When visiting the set of Ruben Fleischer’s upcoming comedy film 30 Minutes or Less, ShockTillYouDrop.com learned from Jesse Eisenberg that an early draft for Zombieland 2 has been written and turned into Sony by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.

Fleischer confirmed this by saying:

Yeah, I read it […] I mean, it’s an early draft and we have plenty more to do to work on it, but I think it’s going to be amazing, I’m really excited about it.

Even if Reese and Wernick finish the script, it may not be Fleischer’s next project:

I got a couple irons in the fire, so we’ll see, but I’d be psyched to do it. I have this buddy cop movie that I sold to DreamWorks that’s pretty cool that these guys Arnold and Poole are writing. There’s a movie that Mike White wrote called ‘Babe in the Woods,’ that’s a really cool script, so those kind of exist and I guess we’ll see what happens.

It sounds like Zombieland 2 will happen eventually, just not as quickly as most of us had hoped.

In the meantime, 30 Minutes or Less will be released in Autumn 2011 and centers on two fledgling criminals who kidnap a pizza delivery driver and force him to rob a bank within 30 minutes.

If that doesn’t interest you, you could always watch Zombieland on DVD/Blu-ray another hundred times.
