This year, film fans have been treated to a number of hotly-anticipated sci-fi and fantasy releases, not least Ridley-Scott’s Prometheus. Next on the list, and one that we are particularly looking forward to, is the third instalment of the Christian-Bale-led Batman franchise.
The Dark Knight Rises see Batman battle against Bane, a super-strong and super-intelligent villain, played by Tom Hardy. Anne Hathaway appears as Selina Kyle, while Christian Bale continues to play the brooding, handsome millionaire Bruce Wayne, and Michael Caine as Alfred, Wayne’s long-suffering butler.
With this latest incarnation of the Batman narrative, many of us will be interested in seeing how it compares to The Dark Knight, a box-office-busting film that is one of the top 10 highest grossing films ever. Not only that, but how will Christian Bale, whose Batman was such a perfect foil to Heath Ledger’s crazy Joker, play against a villain who is completely different – not only intelligent but super-strong to boot?
Whether this newest film lives up to the hype surrounding it, and also the quality of its predecessors, remains to be seen, but that hasn’t stopped individuals and businesses alike enjoying the excitement of this new release.
