Welcome-to-the-Punch-Quad-PosterLed by James McAvoy and Mark Strong, Eren Creevy’s Welcome to the Punch is shaping up to be a very promising action/crime-thriller coming our way next month.

The film is one of the most notable British productions of the year, and after seeing a great first trailer late last year, it’s fast emerged as one of the most anticipation films from our shores for 2013.

More recently, we’ve been treated to a pretty sweet UK quad poster, with McAvoy and Strong taking centre stage. And now Momentum have released the first TV spot, giving us another encouraging look at the film.

“Ex-criminal Jacob Sternwood (Mark Strong) is forced to return to London when his son is involved in a heist gone wrong. This gives his nemesis, detective Max Lewinsky (James McAvoy), one last chance to catch the man he’s always been after.”

Andrea Riseborough completes the leading trio very nicely, with the three starring alongside David Morrissey, Elyes Gabel, Peter Mullan, Daniel Mays, and Steve Oram.

The BAFTA-nominated Creevy (Shifty) is once more directing from his own script, with Ridley Scott serving as executive producer.

McAvoy and Strong are two of the finest actors from our shores, and I’m really looking forward to seeing them working opposite each other here. It’s not often enough that we get to see Strong in a (joint) leading role like he will be in Welcome to the Punch, and we definitely ought to take advantage of these chances as frequently as they come. Especially if we want to see more of them down the line – and we really do.

Welcome to the Punch will be released on 15th March in the UK, and has its US release date set slightly later on 27th March. For now, here’s the first TV spot to set the tone. Enjoy.
