Weird & Wonderful First Images from Michel Gondry’s Mood Indigo with Audrey Tautou

Having just debuted his latest film, The We and the I, at Cannes last month to critical acclaim – you can read our own five-star review for it here – Michel Gondry’s next feature, Mood Indigo, is already looking incredibly intriguing.

Adapting Boris Vian’s original 1947 novel, L’écume des jours, the film stars the ever-brilliant Audrey Tautou (Amélie) and Romain Duris (The Beat That Skipped My Heart) in the leads, and now the brilliant and engaging first official images have surfaced online.

Mood Indigo,

“tells the tale of Colin (Duris), the wealthy inventor of an olfactory musical instrument, the pianocktail. He marries Chloe (Tautou), but unfortunately, she falls ill during their honeymoon thanks to a water lily that enters her lung, and the only way to treat the ailment is to surround her with fresh flowers – an expense that soon drains his funds.”

The Oscar-winning Gondry (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind) is directing from a script written by Luc Bossi, who makes his solo feature screenwriting debut.

No word yet on when we can look forward to it on the big screen, but these images are certainly promising something interesting. And before that, we’ll hopefully soon be seeing The We and the I in theatres as well, which is definitely something to look forward to. You can enjoy the first trailer for that here. And as usual with these images below, you can click to enlarge.
