Another trailer has landed for the Tom Cruise future-earther (yes, that genre exists) Oblivion and it’s much the same as we’ve seen before.
The marketing for the film makes the mystery alluded to in the basic synopsis redundant (court-martialed soldier sent to alien world to wipe out aliens – all is not what it seems); there will be no big final reveal ala Planet of the Apes.
Tronman Joseph Kosinski can certainly throw together a visual spectacle or two but as with Tron: Legacy Kosinski will need to reign in his love for CG-goodness (something the trailers show off in spades) and cut a tight story out of it.
This new trailer expands on the world a little more, Morgan Freeman appears very annoyed in it and there’s some marvellous FX work going on in well.
The film is out in the UK on the 12th of April, not long now Future-Earther fans…(see?).
