With the film-making world in endless pursuit of new ways of treating well-worn premises, The Darkest Hour gives us an alien invasion in Moscow now that London (Attack the Block), South Africa (District 9) and the US (every other alien invasion film I can think of) have had their turn. If you haven’t caught the trailer and other publicity material for The Darkest Hour, do so immediately right here, as it looks like a really interesting way of representing an invading alien horde.
Today’s new addition to the mix is a featurette, running to a little shy of three minutes, showing a lot of on-set footage, sound bites from stars Emile Hirsch, Olivia Thirlby, Max Minghella and Rachael Taylor and director Chris Gorak and some of what we’ve already seen from the trailer. It is perhaps a little spoilerific if you don’t want to see too much of how the aliens attack, what makes them tick and how the heroes begin to fight back, but it looks like the film has a style and alien concept all its own.
We’ve embedded the clip below, though thanks to First Showing for, well, showing it to us.
