Terence-Stamp-and-Gemma-Arterton-in-Unfinished-SongPreviously titled Song for Marion, it looks like The Weinstein Company have pulled another Cogan’s Trade / Killing Them Softly, and re-titled the musical dramatic comedy Unfinished Song (in the US at least, it’ll still be Song for Marion in the UK).

The film debuted at TIFF back in September to positive early reviews, and with a leading cast headed up by Gemma Arterton, Vanessa Redgrave, and Terence Stamp, there’s a lot of promise here.

We saw the first trailer a few months back, when it was still going by Song for Marion. And with its release coming in just over a month, Yahoo Movies have debuted a new trailer, which reveals the film’s new title, and leaves us wondering whether it will be getting a title change on our shores too, with the UK poster we saw last year bearing the original title.

“A wonderfully, heart-warming story of a loving marriage between grumpy pensioner Arthur (Terence Stamp) and the ever-cheerful Marion (Vanessa Redgrave).

Cantankerous but doting husband Arthur does not share his wife Marion’s passion for performing. While she is happy to sing her heart out with the unconventional local choir, Arthur would prefer to hide himself away and complain about how embarrassing it all is.

But when heartbreak strikes, Arthur is forced to re-think his outlook on life. With the steady perseverance of choir director Elizabeth (Gemma Arterton), Arthur begins to find a way to come out of his shell and in the process forms a touching relationship with Elizabeth as well as a desire to build bridges with his estranged son James (Christopher Eccleston).”

Christopher Eccleston completes the leading cast nicely, with Paul Andrew Williams (London to Brighton) directing from his own script.

Unfinished Song has its UK and US release date set for 8th February, and here’s to hoping that it will find success when it lands. For now, here’s the latest trailer to set the tone. Enjoy.
