Turbo

Earlier today the US trailer for Dreamworks’ Snail-racing CG animated film Turbo arrived on the shores of the internet. And there was a modicum of rejoicing.

This is the oft-told tale of the underdog snail who miraculously attains super-speed and loses his sense of identity before proving himself in a very fast race. David Soren is leading the pack here and he’s got the likes of Ryan Reynolds, Samuel L. Jackson, Paul Giamatti, Michael Peña and Michelle Rodriguez to lend their larynxes to the proceedings. It’s an odd choice of subject matter but time (and a tight script) should prove me wrong.

Here’s a synopsis to entice,

From the makers of Madagascar and Kung Fu Panda, TURBO is a high-velocity 3D comedy about an underdog snail who kicks into overdrive when he miraculously attains the power of super-speed. But after making fast friends with a crew of streetwise, tricked-out es-car-goes, Turbo learns that no one succeeds on their own. So he puts his heart and shell on the line to help his pals achieve their dreams, before Turbo-charging his own impossible dream: winning the Indy 500.
