Turbo-PosterFollowing the anticipated release of The Croods this month, DreamWorks will be bringing us another brilliant animated blockbuster this summer in the form of Turbo.

We saw the first teaser trailer towards the tail-end of last year, giving us a great look at the Ryan Reynolds-led adventure-comedy. Since then, we’ve more recently seen the first poster, bearing the tagline, “Slo No Mo.” And now the first full-length trailer has arrived, and you can’t help but get even more excited.

The studio have recently announced that they’ll be partnering with Netflix to launch the online network’s first original series for kids, which is set to debut in December. And that alone suggests that both parties see a big potential here for the film and a franchise beyond.

“From the makers of Madagascar and Kung Fu Panda, TURBO is a high-velocity 3D comedy about an underdog snail who kicks into overdrive when he miraculously attains the power of super-speed. But after making fast friends with a crew of streetwise, tricked-out es-car-goes, Turbo learns that no one succeeds on their own. So he puts his heart and shell on the line to help his pals achieve their dreams, before Turbo-charging his own impossible dream: winning the Indy 500.”

Reynolds leads an all-star voice cast, and is joined by Paul Giamatti, Michael Peña, Michelle Rodriguez, Bill Hader, Luis Guzman, Richard Jenkins, Ken Jeong, Maya Rudolph, Ben Schwartz, Kurtwood Smith, Snoop Dogg, and Samuel L. Jackson.

David Soren (Merry Madagascar) is making his feature directorial debut, directing from a script he co-wrote with Robert D. Siegel (The Wrestler) and Darren Lemke (Shrek Forever After), based on Soren’s own original concept.

Turbo will be released in 3D on 19th July in the US. The UK release date is unfortunately still a while away, set for 18th October, but it definitely looks like this is going to be worth the wait. For now, here’s your first full-length look at Turbo. This is going to be awesome.
