Touchy-Feely-PosterFollowing her award-winning Your Sister’s Sister last year, Lynn Shelton returns behind the camera to bring us one of the best dramas of the year in Touchy Feely.

The independent feature made its debut at Sundance at the start of the year, and was thankfully one of the handful of films chosen to screen at Sundance London – you can read our review here. I saw its UK debut back in April and absolutely loved it, and am very much looking forward to a repeat viewing.

Boasting another fantastic ensemble cast, Shelton’s feature will be getting an early VOD release this summer, ahead of a theatrical US release in September. And now Magnolia have released a terrific first trailer for the film.

TOUCHY FEELY is a closely observed examination of a family whose delicate psychic balance suddenly unravels. Abby (Rosemarie DeWitt), is a sought after massage therapist and a free spirit, while her brother Paul (Josh Pais) thrives on routine and convention, running a flagging dental practice and co-dependently enlisting the assistance of his emotionally stunted daughter Jenny (Ellen Page). Suddenly, transformation touches everyone. Abby develops an uncontrollable aversion to bodily contact, which not only makes her occupation impossible but severely hinders the passionate love life between her and her boyfriend (Scoot McNairy).

Rosemarie DeWitt reunites with Shelton after Your Sister’s Sister. And she stars alongside Josh Pais, Ellen Page, Scoot McNairy, Allison Janney, Tomo Nakayama, and Ron Livingston.

Shelton is directing from her own script, with past collaborator Steven Schardt (Your Sister’s Sister, Humpday) producing for her once more.

Touchy Feely is set to be released on VOD on August 1st, with its theatrical US release date falling a few weeks later on September 6th. It’s very much recommended viewing.
