#3 – Kill Bill (Vol 1 & 2)
Desperate times call for a desperate bride, which is exactly what we have here in Quentin Tarantino’s homage to Asian revenge movies, martial arts adventures and spaghetti westerns.
Starring Uma Thurman as victim-come-avenger, The Bride, Kill Bill is the story of a woman left for dead by her beloved after his failed attempt at killing her. After four years lieing in a coma, Beatrix Kiddo sets out to avenge the loss of her child and her own almost-death. One by one, Kiddo hunts down the former members of the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad, dispatching them in a variety of graphic ways before her final confrontation with Bill.
Also starring David Carradine as Bill, Vivica A. Fox, Daryl Hannah, Lucy Liu, Michael Madsen and of course the Crazy 88, Kill Bill is a must for anyone looking for less rose petals and more bloodshed.
#2 – Basic Instinct
I have to say I have a lot of respect for powerful women, even those brandishing ice picks and flashing their bits during Police questioning. In today’s testosterone-driven world, it’s good to know that there are women prepared to go toe-to-toe with the boys. But would such a woman make for a great date on Valentines Day?
Well if strong, independent women are your type, you don’t get much stronger than Catherine Tramell, the seductive murderess of Basic Instinct.
Starring Sharon Stone as our Anti-heroine and Michael Douglas as detective Nick Curren, Basic Instinct is a psychological game of cat and mouse between a cold-blooded killer and a detective who really does seem to be thinking too much with his truncheon. Happy Valentines day readers – don’t forget to check under your bed for ice picks!
