Many people credit Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody as being the first ever pop music video – but with various musical performances in their five feature films, The Beatles may well beg to differ.

The celebrated four piece (you may have heard of them) John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr, would perform tracks from their latest album within their feature films – not to drive the story forward, and without any dialogue intertwined. Here we count down the top 10 performances from the Liverpudlian quartet, between their films A Hard Day’s Night, Help!, Magical Mystery Tour, Yellow Submarine and Let it Be.


10 – Two of Us – Let it Be (1970)

What is notable about the performance of Two of Us in their final feature film Let it Be, is its simplicity, as the band merely play, in what appears to be an empty room. No jokes and no screaming teenage fans, just the band doing what they do best. There’s a poignancy, of course, given it’s their final film and the pertinency of the lyrics between what had become a tumultuous relationship between Lennon and McCartney.
