Thor-The-Dark-World-Poster-MalekithHitting cinemas on our shores at the end of next month, Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World will pick things up where Joss Whedon left off at the end of The Avengers last year, just as Shane Black’s Iron Man 3 did earlier in the year.

Black’s Iron Man 3 is the highest-grossing movie of 2013 to date, and it should be very interesting to see how the box office responds to Thor: The Dark World as the second instalment in Phase Two of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The first full-length trailer landed early last month, followed by two new international character posters more recently. And now the studio have released two more posters, this time teasing a look at Thor alongside Jane Foster, as well as a close-up of Malekith.

Marvel’s “Thor: The Dark World” continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s “Thor” and “Marvel’s The Avengers,” Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.

Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, and Tom Hiddleston are of course back in their leading roles once more, with Christopher Eccleston, Anthony Hopkins, Idris Elba, Stellan Skarsgård, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Jaimie Alexander, Kat Dennings, Tadanobu Asano, Ray Stevenson, Zachary Levi, Chris O’Dowd, and Rene Russo leading a terrific ensemble cast.

Alan Taylor (Game of Thrones) is at the helm in place of Kenneth Branagh. And he’s directing from a script penned by the writing duo of Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely (Captain America: The First Avenger, Captain America: The Winter Soldier) and Christopher Yost (The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes).

Thor: The Dark World will be released in 2D, 3D, and IMAX 3D on 30th October in the UK, with its US release date following on November 8th. For now, here are the new posters, which you can click through to enlarge.
