Thor:-The-Dark-World-Poster-LondonThe countdown is slowly winding down to the arrival of Thor: The Dark World at the end of next month, with the Marvel Cinematic Universe continuing with its second instalment in Phase Two following the release of Shane Black’s Iron Man 3 earlier this year.

Like the preceding instalment, Thor: The Dark World will pick up where Joss Whedon left off at the end of The Avengers, and everyone’s looking forward to seeing how Thor handles his relationship with Jane Foster, having not thought to pay her a visit whilst the world was on the cusp of defeat. The recent posters that we’ve seen have shown them looking pretty cosy, so clearly there doesn’t seem to be much bad will there. And now a few new international posters have landed online, translating the location to London on the first, giving us a new look at Loki and Malekith in the background of the second, and a banner-sized look at Thor in the third.

Marvel’s “Thor: The Dark World” continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself.  In the aftermath of Marvel’s “Thor” and “Marvel’s The Avengers,” Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.

Chris Hemsworth is naturally front and centre once more as the eponymous hero, with Natalie Portman reprising her role as Jane Foster in the female lead. The ensemble cast is as terrific as you’d expect, with new and familiar faces alike joining them, led by Tom Hiddleston, Christopher Eccleston, Anthony Hopkins, Idris Elba, Stellan Skarsgård, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Jaimie Alexander, Kat Dennings, Tadanobu Asano, Ray Stevenson, Zachary Levi, Chris O’Dowd, and Rene Russo.

Alan Taylor (Game of Thrones) is at the helm, with Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely (Captain America: The First Avenger, Captain America: The Winter Soldier) penning the script alongside Christopher Yost (The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes).

Thor: The Dark World will be released in 2D, 3D, and IMAX 3D on 30th October here in the UK, with its US release date following on November 8th. In the meantime, here are the latest posters, which you can click through to enlarge. And in case you missed it last month, be sure to catch up on the first full-length trailer.
