The-Worlds-End-Quad-PosterEdgar Wright’s highly anticipated The World’s End will bring a close to one of the greatest comedy trilogies of all time this summer, following on from Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz.

The Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy (a.k.a. the Blood and Ice Cream Trilogy) began almost a decade ago with 2004’s Shaun of the Dead, and was followed three years later by Hot Fuzz. It’s been six long years that we’ve been waiting for The World’s End, and with just over two months to go before it hits, the first teaser trailer has finally debuted, as promised. And it only serves to sky-rocket the anticipation.

20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hell bent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King, a 40-year old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their home town and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub, The World’s End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s. Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries.

Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are of course taking the lead once more for the final outing in the series. And the two joined by another awesome cast, starring alongside Martin Freeman, Paddy Considine, Eddie Marsan, and Rosamund Pike.

Wright is directing from a script he co-wrote with Pegg, and we can’t wait to see what they’ve brought for us to close this epic trilogy with the green mint choc-chip Cornetto flavour.

The World’s End will be released in the UK on 19th July, with its US release date following shortly after on August 23rd. Whilst we count down the days, here is the brilliant first trailer to set the mood. Let us know your thoughts in the comments below. Are you excited as we are for its arrival?
