World EndingAlthough it’s Christmas time, mistletoe and wine, children singing something rhyme, there’s a sense of dread slightly dampening the mood. Getting into the spirit is difficult when some Mayans have selfishly predicted the end of the world just four days before Jesus’s birthday.

There’s a sense of gloom from our impending doom that has been predicted. What better way to think of the gloom then to dwell in it and surround yourself with end of the world films; whether they’re surviving a post-apocalyptic event or it’s a countdown to a full demolition of the world. Let’s look at the best films that depict the end of the world, celebrate with these, and maybe even take notes on how to survive.

Here’s the list of films about the end of the world before the world ends, whether they’re films that are great to make you feel bad about the world ending but you could even watch a few that are so bad that’ll it’ll deserve to end.

Seeking a Friend for the End of the World 7) Seeking a Friend for the End of the World

May as well start with the latest for this one. This sees Steve Carell and Keira Knightley team up in preparation for the end of the world. With an asteroid plummeting with no way of stopping it, everyone becomes care free and lives as if it’s their last days… because they are.

Steve Carell’s Dodge has been unhappily married for years and on this news of the asteroid, his wife leaves him. Not even subtly: she gets out of the car and runs. In this, he finds the necessity to find his old high school sweetheart who he should’ve married. Keira Knightley’s Penny is a care-free hypersomniac who lives next door and, amidst her break-up with boyfriend Owen (Adam Brody), ends up bonding and sharing a trip with Dodge.

It’s a pretty nice film, even with the gloomy doom of it all. At times, it can be sad and wrenching to watch but other times utterly joyous. It brings emotions that are wonderful and all positive emotions that you shouldn’t expect come out. If this is how the world ends for everyone then it wouldn’t be the worst way.
