Hugh-Jackman-in-The-WolverineHitting us in the height of the summer, The Wolverine is one of the last big blockbusters of the season to get its promotional campaign underway. We had a brilliant teaser poster late last year, when Hugh Jackman and director James Mangold hosted a live Q&A. And that was followed by an awesome motion poster in time for Christmas.

But as we eagerly await the first trailer’s debut, which is expected to land next month, we can enjoy the occasional official images that surface. The latest of Jackman to emerge comes courtesy of the film’s Facebook, and with it comes a shot of him on set from Mangold’s Twitter:

“A production snap from shooting a wood chopping scene in Omishima. We found an eight inch caterpillar that morning. pic.twitter.com/NIBceVz9jF”

And to add to the collection is another photo tweeted by Mangold, from the editing room:

“Late night on @thewolverine. Here is my POV from a couch behind editor Mike McCusker. Last reel. pic.twitter.com/VI4qWxCH”

Jackman is joined by a fine cast, headed up by the awesome Hiroyuki Sanada, Tao Okamoto, Rila Fukushima, Will Yun Lee, Hal Yamanouchi, Brian Tee, and Svetlana Khodchenkova.

“Based on the celebrated comic book arc, The Wolverine finds Logan, the eternal warrior and outsider, in Japan. There, samurai steel will clash with adamantium claw as Logan confronts a mysterious figure from his past in an epic battle that will leave him forever changed.”

Mangold is directing from a script penned by Christopher McQuarrie and Mark Bomback, with Jackman himself producing alongside Hutch Parker, John Palermo (X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Drive), and Lauren Shuler Donner (X-Men, Constantine).

The Wolverine will be released in 3D on 25th July here in the UK, with its US release date following a day later on 26th July. I can’t wait. This is going to be so much fun. Here’s to hoping that that first trailer lands soon.
