David Ayer (Training Day) brought End of Watch to TIFF last month, where it premiered to strong early reviews. The film topped the US box office in its opening weekend a few weeks back, and after screening last week at the BFI London Film Festival, it’s now set for release on our shores in just over a month’s time.
With its release just around the corner here, the UK quad poster has been released, giving us a look at the brilliant leading duo, Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Peña, front and centre, along with two new images.
“A powerful story of family, friendship, love, honor and courage, End Of Watch stars Academy Award nominee Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Peña as young Los Angeles police officers Taylor and Zavala as they patrol the city’s meanest streets of south central Los Angeles.
Giving the story a gripping, first-person immediacy, the action unfolds entirely through footage from the handheld HD cameras of the police officers, gang members, surveillance cameras, and citizens caught in the line of fire to create a riveting portrait of the city’s darkest, most violent corners, the cops who risk their lives there every day, and the price they and their families are forced to pay.”
Ayer (Training Day, Street Kings) returns behind the camera, directing from his own script, with a fantastic cast alongside Gyllenhaal and Peña, headed up by Anna Kendrick, America Ferrera, Cody Horn, Natalie Martinez, and Frank Grillo.
And in case you need any convincing, you can watch the brilliant red-band trailer right here.
End of Watch will be released in the UK on 23rd November, a date which can’t come fast enough. It’s still playing in a number of theatres across the US, where it continues to perform well both among critics and audiences, already turning its low budget of $7m. into more than five times that. Definitely a must-see film when it lands next month. For now, here’s the new UK poster, which you can click through to enlarge.
