The Place Beyond the Pines was far and away one of my favourite films debuting at TIFF this year – you can read our review here – with utterly brilliant leading performances from Ryan Gosling, Bradley Cooper, and Dane DeHaan.
The film will be released in Spring 2013, and with just a few months before it arrives, Yahoo Movies have released an awesome first trailer, proving why it is a must-see film of 2013.
“Luke (Gosling) is a professional motorcycle rider who turns to bank robberies to support his newborn son, but when he crosses paths with a rookie police officer (Cooper) their violent confrontation spirals into a tense generational fued. THE PLACE BEYOND THE PINES is a rich dramatic thriller that traces the intersecting lives of fathers and sons, cops and robbers, heroes and villain.”
Starring alongside Gosling, Cooper, and DeHaan is a fine supporting cast, headed up by Ben Mendelsohn, Rose Byrne, Eva Mendes, Ray Liotta, Bruce Greenwood, Mahersala Ali, and Emory Cohen.
Derek Cianfrance (Blue Valentine) is re-teaming with Gosling once more – and brilliantly so – having directed the film from his own script.
The Place Beyond the Pines will be given a limited release in the US on 29th March, 2013. Here in the UK, its release date is set for 12th April, and that really can’t come fast enough. I can’t wait to see this again. As I said above, it is very much a must-see film of 2013. Here’s the trailer to prove it.
