Having found impressive success over the weekend with Oz the Great and Powerful, Disney will soon be turning to their summer tentpole, The Lone Ranger.
Its summer release date is fast approaching, and now the studio’s Japanese arm have released a brilliant third trailer, giving us another action-packed look at the upcoming blockbuster.
Native American spirit warrior Tonto (Johnny Depp) recounts the untold tales that transformed John Reid (Armie Hammer), a man of the law, into a legend of justice–taking the audience on a runaway train of epic surprises and humorous friction as the two unlikely heroes must learn to work together and fight against greed and corruption.
Armie Hammer and Johnny Depp take the lead here as John Reid / The Lone Ranger and Tonto, respectively. And starring alongside them will be Tom Wilkinson, William Fichtner, Barry Pepper, James Badge Dale, Ruth Wilson, and Helena Bonham Carter.
Gore Verbinski (Pirates of the Caribbean, Rango) is reuniting here with Depp once more, directing from a script written by Terry Rossio and Ted Elliott, who penned all four Pirates films, and Justin Haythe (Revolutionary Road).
The Lone Ranger will be released on 3rd July in the US, giving it an immensely prominent position in the summer season over the Independence Day weekend. Its UK release date is set a little later on 9th August, but it definitely looks like it’s going to be worth the wait. Here’s the latest international trailer to make that wait a little easier. I have so much love for the Japanese guy who does the voice-over for this trailer.
