The-Iceman-PosterDebuting at Venice last year to excellent early reviews, Ariel Vromen’s The Iceman has the promise to be one of the year’s finest crime-thrillers.

Michael Shannon leads an all-star cast, based on the true story of Richard Kuklinski: loving husband, devoted father, and ruthless killer.

We saw the first trailer arrive as the film debuted out in Venice, and now Millennium have released a great new trailer ahead of its release in the US this May.

“Inspired by actual events, The Iceman follows notorious contract killer Richard Kuklinski (Academy Award® nominee Michael Shannon) from his early days in the mob until his arrest for the murder of more than 100 men. Appearing to be living the American dream as a devoted husband and father; in reality Kuklinski was a ruthless killer-for-hire. When finally arrested in 1986, neither his wife nor daughters have any clue about his real profession.”

Starring alongside Shannon is a fantastic cast, headed up by Winona Ryder, Chris Evans, Ray Liotta, David Schwimmer, Robert Davi, and Danny Abeckaser, with cameos coming from Stephen Dorff and the ever-prolific James Franco.

Vromen (Simple Lies) is directing from a script he co-wrote with Morgan Land (Simple Lies).

Shannon has been very much deservedly on the rise in recent years, with the acclaimed Take Shelter giving him a chance to shine in the leading role back in 2011. He’s been one to watch for a long time now, and we can’t wait to see him back in another leading role, before hitting the big screen this summer as General Zod in Zack Snyder’s highly anticipated Man of Steel.

The Iceman will be released in the US on 3rd May, with its UK release date set slightly later on 7th June. For now, here’s the latest trailer to set the anticipation rising. Enjoy.
