The-Hunger-Games-Catching-Fire-PosterAll but guaranteed to be one of the biggest films of the year, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire has been gearing up nicely in recent weeks, releasing a set of Capitol Portraits, following the first Victory Tour posters earlier in the year.

The first trailer is set to debut at the MTV Movie Awards at the end of the month, and now MTV have debuted a teaser for that trailer, giving us a snippet of footage and our first good look at the upcoming blockbuster.

THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE begins as Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour” of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever.

Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, and Liam Hemsworth reprise their roles from the first film, starring alongside old and new faces alike, led by Elizabeth Banks, Stanley Tucci, Jena Malone, Sam Claflin, Woody Harrelson, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Willow Shields, and Donald Sutherland.

Francis Lawrence (I Am Legend) is directing from a screenplay first written by the Oscar-winning Simon Beaufoy (Slumdog Millionaire, 127 Hours), with Michael Arndt (Toy Story 3, Star Wars Episode VII) hired for a rewrite. And the film is based on the original novel, Catching Fire, by Suzanne Collins.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is set for release on 22nd November in the UK and US, and this is definitely a sequel we’re looking forward to this year. For now, here’s the first teaser ahead of the trailer, which is set to drop later in the month. Be sure to come back to watch it in full when it lands.
