Joseph-Kosinski-OblivionLast week I got to see Oblivion before pretty much anyone which was an absolute privilege as I thought the movie looked absolutely stunning. I’m still not sold on the story but am very eager to see the film again. After seeing the movie, I got to sit down and talk to Director Joseph Kosinski about the process of making his latest creation. He originally penned the idea for it in 2005 so this has been a long time in the making and it’s great to see his latest project hitting both standard and IMAX cinemas today.

In the interview we find out about his work changing it from a concept to the big screen, working with his cast which includes Tom Cruise, Olga Kurylenko, Andrea Riseborough, Morgan Freeman and also to him about working with Daniel Simon on the concept art for the movie and where he currently is with Tron: Legacy. He tells us that all the cast from Tron: Legacy will be returning to Tron 3 (which we assume means we may see Jeff Bridges back) as well as opening up some new spots for new cast members.

I focus quite a lot of the interview on the Sky Tower which when you’ll see the movie is used an awful lot. He specifically shot a months worth of footage on the top of a volcano in Hawaii then projected those scenes around the set of the Sky Tower so the cast felt immersed in it and it also helped to light the stage. Below the interview with Joseph is the featurette that I mention and it’s well worth a watch.

Oblivion is out in UK cinemas today and it’s really well worth seeing. You can see all our coverage from Oblivion here including our premiere interview with Tom Cruise.
