The-Green-InfernoEli Roth is without a doubt the king of horror for his generation, and so naturally I’m really looking forward to seeing him finally return behind the camera for his fourth feature, The Green Inferno.

After starring alongside them in Aftershock – the brilliant horror movie is due out later this year, and you can read our review here – Roth has once more joined forces with the fantastic Lorenza Izzo and Ariel Levy, casting them here in The Green Inferno.

And now a very bloody first image from the film has been released. And Roth himself has released the official synopsis through his blog, telling us to ignore any others floating around online.

“A group of student activists from New York City travel to the Amazon to protect a dying tribe, but crash in the jungle and are taken hostage by the very natives they saved.”

Starring alongside Izzo and Levy will be Sky Ferreira, Nicolás Martínez, Kirby Bliss Blanton, Aaron Burns, Magda Apanowicz, and Matías López.

Roth is directing from a script he co-wrote with Guillermo Amoedo, with whom he also worked on Aftershock. And Roth is once more serving as producer as well, alongside Nicolás López (Aftershock), Miguel Asensio (Aftershock), Molly Conners (Killer Joe), and Christopher Woodrow (The Sacrament).

The Green Inferno is currently without a release date. But we’re hoping that it will be getting a wide release across the US and UK. Roth is pretty much guaranteed to bring us another awesome horror here, and I can’t wait to see what he’s got in store for us here. The synopsis coupled with this first image promise something fantastic.
