Drawing Robert Zemeckis back from the dead-eyed soulsea of CGmation is Flight, a self-styled provocative film which closes the New York Film Festival this month before making its way into US cinemas in November.
The first trailer was released recently and it’s good to see Zemeckis back in the real world, and with a cast led by Denzel Washington and comprising of John Goodman, Don Cheadle, Kelly Reilly and Melissa Leo the signs are good for this thriller. The lead character’s name is Whip Whitaker for instance.
There’s a fustian synopsis which has a spoiler for an early part of the film but really if you’re spoilerphobic then you won’t be reading it will you?
In this action-packed mystery thriller, Academy Award winner Denzel Washington stars as Whip Whitaker, a seasoned airline pilot who miraculously crash-lands his plane after a mid-air catastrophe, saving nearly every soul on board. After the crash, Whip is hailed as a hero, but as more is learned, more questions than answers arise as to who or what was really at fault, and what really happened on that plane?
Yes Denzel. What happened?
