The-Conjuring-PosterIt’s been a good few weeks since we last had a full-blown horror movie in theatres, so naturally I’m looking forward to James Wan’s The Conjuring that much more.

Wan’s past credits really speak for themselves, boasting the likes of Saw and Insidious, and he returns to the director’s chair for another two horror films this year, kicking things off this month with The Conjuring, before coming back in the autumn/fall with Insidious: Chapter 2.

The former has long been on our radar as something to get excited about, with the film earning an R rating in the US for simply being ‘too scary’. Whilst I remain sceptical about the true-story nature of the movie, as touted by the latest trailer, the film itself looks awesome, and we’ve got a great new TV spot to prove it.

Before there was Amityville, there was Harrisville. Based on a true story, “The Conjuring” tells the horrifying tale of how world renowned paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren were called upon to help a family terrorized by a dark presence in a secluded farmhouse. Forced to confront a powerful demonic entity, the Warrens find themselves caught in the most terrifying case of their lives.

Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga lead the cast as investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, starring alongside Ron Livingston, Lili Taylor, Joey King, and Mackenzie Foy.

Wan is directing from a script co-written by brothers Chad and Carey Hayes (House of Wax, The Reaping).

The Conjuring will be released on July 19th in the US, with its UK release date following shortly after on 2nd August. In the meantime, here’s the new TV spot to set you on edge.
