The-Amazing-Spider-Man-2-Triptych-BannerSony launched the first trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 at the start of the month, brilliantly introducing the new villains soon to be coming our way in the anticipated sequel.

Coming alongside last week’s announcement, that the studio will be expanding the Spider-Man Universe with movies centred on Venom and The Sinister Six, the studio has released a new international trailer, focusing a little more on the comedy, of the kind that sat so nicely alongside the action the first time around.

In The Amazing Spider-Man 2, for Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield), life is busy – between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can’t come quickly enough. Peter hasn’t forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen’s father to protect her by staying away – but that’s a promise he just can’t keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.

Emma Stone takes the female lead opposite Garfield once more, alongside Jamie Foxx, Dane DeHaan, Paul Giamatti, Felicity Jones, Sally Field, Martin Sheen, Chris Cooper, Brian Haley, Colm Feore, and B.J. Novak.

Marc Webb returns to the helm for the second instalment in what will at least be a trilogy, directing from a script penned by Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (Star Trek, Transformers) and Jeff Pinkner (Lost, Fringe), based on a previous draft by James Vanderbilt (The Amazing Spider-Man).

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will be released in 3D and IMAX 3D on 18th April 2014 in the UK, with its US release date set for comic book movies’ favourite weekend, May 2nd.
