Jamie-Foxx-and-Andrew-Garfield-in-The-Amazing-Spider-Man-2We might still be a little under a year away from Spidey’s return in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t already get excited.

Marc Webb’s brilliant reboot last year set up a new franchise, which Sony have already committed to continuing through to May 2018 with The Amazing Spider-Man 4.

With Comic-Con just around the corner, we were treated to two new images last week, along with a new magazine cover. And now EW have released another image, in which we get to see Andrew Garfield’s Peter Parker / Spider-Man having strong words with Jamie Foxx’s Max Dillon, who will go on to become Electro.

In The Amazing Spider-Man 2, for Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield), life is busy – between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can’t come quickly enough. Peter hasn’t forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen’s father to protect her by staying away – but that’s a promise he just can’t keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.

Garfield and Foxx are of course joined by a truly stellar cast, with Emma Stone returning for the female lead as Gwen Stacy, starring alongside Dane DeHaan, Paul Giamatti, Felicity Jones, Sally Field, Martin Sheen, Chris Cooper, Brian Haley, Colm Feore, and B.J. Novak.

Webb is directing from a script penned by Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (Star Trek, Transformers) and Jeff Pinkner (Fringe, Lost), based on a previous draft by James Vanderbilt (The Amazing Spider-Man).

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will be released in 3D on May 2nd, 2014. Those heading to Hall H this Friday are sure to be in for a treat, with Sony expected to launch the first footage from the film at the convention.
