The-Amazing-Spider-Man-2-Poster-sliceIn the past couple weeks, Sony has done a brilliant job of launching The Amazing Spider-Man 2, kicking things off with an awesome first trailer at the start of the month.

Since then, not only have we had an international trailer, teasing a little more of the comedy that worked so well in the first film, but we’ve also heard that the studio is expanding the Spider-Man Universe, developing Venom and The Sinister Six movies.

Adding to that, they’ve now released a new teaser poster, with Spidey striking the same pose as the rather epic triptych banner, but this time with a lightning-filled NYC skyline.

In The Amazing Spider-Man 2, for Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield), life is busy – between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can’t come quickly enough. Peter hasn’t forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen’s father to protect her by staying away – but that’s a promise he just can’t keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.

Andrew Garfield is of course back as Peter Parker / Spider-Man for the second instalment, with Emma Stone opposite in the female lead as Gwen Stacy. The duo are joined by another great ensemble, led by Jamie Foxx, Dane DeHaan, Paul Giamatti, Felicity Jones, Sally Field, Martin Sheen, Chris Cooper, Brian Haley, Colm Feore, and B.J. Novak.

Marc Webb is back behind the camera once more, this time directing from a script by Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman (Star Trek, Transformers) and Jeff Pinkner (Fringe, Lost), based on a previous draft by The Amazing Spider-Man’s James Vanderbilt.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will be released in 3D and IMAX 3D on 18th April, 2014 here in the UK, with its US release date following on May 2nd.
