Here’s something a little different for a Thursday evening! We’ve intercepted this brand new audio from what seems to be another galaxy!

In the audio, we can hear Parallax coming at us from every angle in this rather nice 3d audio viral to promote Green Lantern. If you have headphones, make sure you wear them to experience this best.

Green Lantern – Binaural Audio by heyuguysblog

This handsome-looking period yarn stars Ray Winstone (sporting a surprisingly convincing South African accent) as an ex-farmer turned fighter from the Boer Wars of the late 1800’s who, upon arrival in New Zealand, is tasked by the British army in tracking down a Maori seaman (Temuera Morrison) who has been wrongly accused of killing an officer, having been caught during a roll in the hay (literally) with a young English woman.

With a posse in tow and two divergent routes, Winstone splits from the other soldiers and goes it alone. He soon finds his bounty, but what he also (unexpectedly) finds is a growing fondness and kinship towards the Maori, who on top of being on the run for a crime he didn’t commit, has to suffer the indignation of fleeing across land which belonged to his forefathers. Winstone soon finds himself at odds with the British over the prisoner’s fate as he wrestles with his own sense of justice and morals.

Following the briefest of cinema releases and with zero hype or reciving any real coverage before hitting the small screen market, Tracker is one of those rare films which takes you by surprise in terms of the quality on offer for such a seemingly low-key feature. It’s a solid two-hander which sits well above that kind of forgettable DTV material which seems to appear out of nowhere on a weekly basis.

Both stars are excellent. Winstone’s character is buttoned-down and emotionally numb, having lost something far more precious to him in the war than land, and he wears his stoicism well. Morrison still has some of that fire which was evident in his breakout role of Jake “the Muss” Heke in Once Were Warriors (a film which is, shockingly, 17 year-old now!) but he also exudes a warmth and sympathetic nature as the persecuted local (two words you’d never associate with the explosive and unpredictable Heke).

As the two make their way back to the rendezvous point with the British, the odd couple set-up is something we’re seem numerous times before in many incarnations (the early bickering between the two and Morrison’s insistence on perpetually trying Winstone’s patience brings to mind Midnight Run) but it’s handled well, and the constant methods used by the duo to try and outfox each other are both humorous and dramatic at times.

The stunning landscape is another contributing factor to the quality here. The lush New Zealand greenery and breathtaking craggy shorelines can’t help but conjure up memories of that epic Middle Earth trilogy, but director Ian Sharp still manages to bring his own visual stamp to the environment and assisted by some fantastic cinematography, you really buy into the spiritual aspects of the land which Morrison’s character tries to impress upon his captor.

If you’re in the mood for a solid adventure story with a little heart too, this film is well worth tracking down.

Following the lead by Paramount and their new 3d trailer for Transformers: Dark of the Moon, Warner Bros. have now released a 3d trailer for their new movie, Green Lantern. The trailer here comes from Yahoo and is in 2d for viewing on standard computer screens but will air in 3d at capable cinemas.

This new trailer gives a great insight into what the Green Lantern is all about and what we can expect for newbies who may not be familiar with the comic books (that would be me then!)

Warner Bros. have released another poster for Green Lantern which now must surely mean they have released more posters for an individual movie than any other studio ever! Seriously have a look at this link showing you all our Green Lantern coverage and you’ll see what I mean (and we haven’t posted all of them!). I have chosen to put this one up however and it’s rather nice and gives us a good look at Abin Sur played by Temuera Morrison.

Green Lantern seems to have done itself the world of good with its more recent publicity output, allaying fears that it was too light-hearted, too flimsy to compete with the summer’s other big comic book releases.

The recent trailer has succeeded in putting out of our minds the inherent silliness that seemed to be bedevilling the earlier clips and now we have a suitably serious and iconic banner for the film, showing the veritable army of ring-wielding heroes to be presented to us in all their CG-augmented glory, come June 17th.

I am happy to admit that I have changed my tune on this one. It had all looked a little ridiculous earlier in the year, but it now seems to be coming together nicely. I guess it goes to show that a studio hurrying to put out publicity material that is less than fully-formed can do more harm than good.

Here’s some flipping great new images of Ryan Reynolds in his Green Lantern costume courtesy of Breaking News USA. As far as I’m concerned, this is the decent look that we’ve had showing Ryan Reynolds all suited up.

I got to see the 8 minutes of footage from Wonder Con over the weekend at the UK equivalent, Kapow and I liked what I saw. My only criticism was that the voice of Geoffrey Rush as Tomar-Re didn’t really work at all but I’m going to do my best to get over that! The 8 minutes of footage was preceded by Green Lantern: Emerald Knights which runs for 80 minutes and was extremely handy for people like me who knew absolutely nothing about Green Lantern.  Emerald Knights explained where the rings came from and where the 300o odd (yes, that many) Green Lanterns came from. Before that, I thought there was only one!

Watching the Twittersphere light up green last night as footage of Martin Campbell’s superhero film Green Lantern was shown was an excellent gauge of how much it appeared to impress those in attendance at WonderCon.

The hastily assembled trailer released a while ago barely inspired any kind of excitement and those looking forward to seeing Ryan Reynolds don the skin tight green needed something more, a wider look at the world. Last night they got that look, and now so can you.

Ryan Reynolds leads the cast of Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard, Mark Strong, Jay O. Sanders, Temuera Morrison, Taika Waititi, Jon Tenney, Angela Bassett and Tim Robbins and the 17th of June is the UK release date.

In every comic book adaptation war there are casualties, those that fall by the wayside, cast asunder by the movie going public. Who might it be this year? X-Men: First Class? Thor? Captain America? My money is on Green Lantern. Although Ryan Reynolds has “charisma to burn” (or whatever the phrase of choice might be these days), he will struggle to overcome the shortcomings of the material if it is not up to scratch. Just ask Hugh Jackman about the Wolverine spin-off.

Although it is of course far to early to say, although the trailer looks like having some eye-catching moments, although director Martin Campbell has an lot of successful work in his back-catalogue (The Mask of Zorro, Goldeneye, Casino Royale), I am genuinely concerned that it all looks a bit, well, silly.

This latest still of Abin Sur, only serves to compound by anxieties. It looks like a fairly shambolic photo-shop job, rather than some well-crafted make-up and I can only hope it is a joke or hastily composed effort that will be considerably better rendered for the final film. Apparently this is Temuera Morrison (sensational in Once Were Warriors, cropped up in the risible Martin Campbell-directed Vertical Limit, fathered an icon as Jango Fett), though you wouldn’t know just from looking.

For heaven’s sake. He’s bright purple! I’d love to be proved wrong and if you disagree and think this all looks awesome, please comment below and let’s get some lively and healthy debate going!

More Green Lantern goodness with another new image released.

Granted it won’t blow your mind but we get a good look at Peter Sarsgaard as Hector Hammond, looking a little more normal than when we first caught a glimpse of him on set.

17th of June is the UK release date and in a year of superhero related shenanigans Martin Campbell’s film has an excellent cast to entice the crowds, with Sarsgaard joined by jolly Green Lantern himself Ryan Reynolds, and Tim Robbins, Angela Bassett and the mighty Mark Strong, who we recently featured in all his greenery.

The recent trailer for Martin Campbell’s big screen take on Green Lantern gave us a good idea of what Ryan Reynolds would look like in his CG green finery, and while the real world aspects of the story were pushed to the fore a new picture has emerged which shows off a more alien element.

It’s not too much of a surprise to say that we’re always interested when Mark Strong gets involved in a project and his role as Sinestro in Green Lantern has been glimpsed briefly in the trailer but this new image gives us a far better look at his character.

We recently saw Tomar-Re and this image shows another of the Green Lantern Corps, and Strong looks particularly devious in this picture.

All other kinds of trailer and images can be found here, and we have to wait until the 17th of June to see our Mr Reynolds getting his hands on the green ring.

Cine Heroes had it (via Latino Review)

The intriguing visuals of Martin Campbell’s take on DC’s Green Lantern, glimpsed in a few promotional images and the first trailer, are doing a great deal to interest those who perhaps are tiring of the CG superhero slew which made up a big part of the last few years of cinema.

As well as a neat visual identity the cast is phenomenal, with Mark Strong, Tim Robbins and Angela Bassett lining up alongisde Ryan Reynolds to bring this story to life. The backstory for The Green Lantern is relatively complicated but this new image shows off Hal Jordan (our Mr. Reynolds)’s mentor in the Green Lantern gang, Tomar-Re and what a splendid looking chap he is too.

The Daily Blam, aside from having a great name, gave us this image and have this to say about the man/birdface himself,

Growing up on the planet Xudar, Tomar-Re comes from a peaceful avian race that focuses their efforts on the arts and sciences instead of war. His nature to examine everything has led the Guardians of the Universe to appoint him the archivist and protector of the sacred Book of Oa. When not studying the nature of the Corps, Tomar-Re patrols the sector of 2813 where he developed a close friendship with neighboring sector 2814′s Green Lantern, Abin Sur. Tomar has taken an interest in Abin’s replacement, Hal Jordan. Though Hal is not one for details, Tomar hopes to teach Hal what it means to be a Green Lantern.

Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively were on stage last weekend for the Scream Awards 2010 where they picked up an award for my anticipated movie for Green Lantern which is currently in post production. The movie is directed by Martin Campbell and also stars Peter Sarsgaard, Tim Robbins, Mark Strong, Taika Waititi, Temuera Morrison, Angela Bassett, Jay O. Sanders and Jon Tenney.

To coincide with the award, Warner Bros. have released a couple of new concept images from the movie which hits UK cinemas 17th June 2011. We’ve had some posters for the movie but this is the first of the concept art released to my knowledge.

They don’t give away too much in the way of script other than the fact Morrison looks like he’s been beaten up and ‘tracked’ if you will!

Empire have given us a brief run down of the synopsis:

The film is set at the opening of the 20th century, when a guerilla fighter form the South African Boer war called Arjan (Winstone) takes on a manhunt for Maori seaman Kereama (Morrison), who is accused of murdering a British soldier. What follows is a cat and mouse pursuit through the varied landscape of NZ with both hunter and huntee testing their bushcraft and wits against that of the other.
