Last night, Ben and I were on the red carpet for Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried’s new movie, In Time. We got to speak to the two main cast-members and their co-star Cillian Murphy all of which can be seen here. Just as we began to start thinking about packing away and heading home to edit the footage we’d collected, Hanna star Saoirse Ronan turned up to have a chat us about her new movie, The Host which is based on the book written by The Twilight Saga author, Stephanie Meyer.

The Host will be directed by Andrew Niccol who has also directed In Time hence the link with her being there. I’ve placed the interview below for your viewing pleasure. Saoirse talks about being excited to work with Andrew but was pleased that last night’s screening wasn’t Alvin and the Chipmunks! I’ve also placed the footage that our friends from Leicester Square TV collected with Saoirse which you can see below our footage.

Open Road Films have committed to U.S. distribution of the latest Stephanie Meyer book-to-film sci-fi thriller, The Host, and given us a release date of March 29th, 2013.

The Host, set in a time where Earth has been invaded and a majority of our bodies have been taken over by an alien race of “souls”, follows one soul named Wanderer, as she attempts to use her recently inhabited human body to locate the small band of uninhabited humans left. What Wanderer does not anticipate is that Melanie Stryder isn’t ready to give up her body without a fight.

Written and directed by Andrew Niccol (Lord of War, Gattaca) with the only confirmed actress being the ever-impressive Saoirse Ronan (The Lovely Bones, Hanna) starring as Melanie Stryder, The Host is shaping up to be a highly anticipated film.

For those of you who have had the chance to pick this book up this will comes as great news as this story made way more of an impression on me than Twilight series. If you haven’t taken the time to give it a read yet, give it a chance if you’re into that sort of thing. We’ll keep you posted as the details of the film continue to unfold!

To follow on from the new images that EW released last week, Summit Entertainment have sent us a nice new batch of images from the fourth installment of their movie, Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 1 which stars Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner.

Twilight Breaking Dawn & Twilight Breaking Dawn: Part 2 also stars Jackson Rathbone, Ashley Greene, Nikki Reed, Kellan Lutz, Anna Kendrick, Elizabeth Reaser, Billy Burke, Dakota Fanning, Michael Sheen, is directed Bill Condon and based on the books by Stephanie Meyer.

We can expect Part 1 in the UK & US, 18th November 2011 while part 2 follows in 2012.

Just in case you didn’t read this post’s title.  I feel obligated to inform you that there are massive SPOILERS below this line.  You have been warned.

As Twilight fans might know, Breaking Dawn, is kind of the odd book out in the franchise.  It marks the point where all the sexual tension and teenage angst from the first 3 novels finally boil over and things become a little less PG than before.  In fact the books first few chapters get so naughty and disturbing, that they have caused many fans to wonder if the content will even make it into the final film.  Oh I wish I could tell you that a certain scene has been cut out.  I wish I could say that Summit Entertainment had some sense and that this was all just a cruel April Fools joke.  Sadly though, I cannot.

It appears that Summit Entertainment is not pulling any punches with ‘Breaking Dawn’.  Images that leaked yesterday show that not only are they planning to push forward with the risque sex scene, but they are also going to show the mildly disgusting birthing scene from the novel.  It seems Summit is becoming more and more like Lions Gate as the years progress!

Under normal circumstances I would say “go for it!”.  Its an interesting scene and I’d be curious as to whether it can be pulled off.  However Summit has already proved to me that its core cast is completely incapable of acting this scene out without making it seem comical.  This is by no way meant as a slight against the films director Bill Condon.  I love his work, and I’m sure the film will have wonderful shots and an interesting look.  It’s the actors I don’t trust.  They could bring in the ghosts of Stella Adler, Constantin Stanislavski, and Elia Kazan for this one little birthing scene, and it still wouldn’t be done right.  So why keep it in?

I never claimed to understand the thought process behind the execs at Summit.  Yes this movie will make a lot of money, but the franchise could have been so much better!  They got things right by removing Catherine Hardwicke, but still have yet to process how much Melissa Rosenberg’s scripts are really destroying their cinematic credibility.  The only thing worse than hearing about the inclusion of the birth scene, is hearing that the movie will be released in two parts.  We’re talking about a long book where for the most part, nothing happens!  Why break it into two films?  The answer my friends, is money.

We’ve seen famous literary character like James Bond receive the prequel treatment before in both print and on the cinema screen, and now it’s the turn of Mary Shelley’s classic creation, scientist Victor Frankenstein.

Coming Soon is reporting that an adaptation of the novel This Dark Endeavor: The Apprenticeship of Victor Frankenstein has been purchased by Summit Entertainment with plans for a cinema release later this year. The story (pitched at the young adult market) follows a young Victor who has to embark on an adventure to uncover the recipe for the Elixir of Life in order to save his gravely-ill twin brother Konrad.

Twilight’s Karen Rosenfelt is attached to produce the adaptation and the studio must be hoping that this will deliver a big money-spinning franchise similar to that of Stephanie Meyer’s vampire romance series.

Summit Entertainment have just sent us some brand new casting information for their top hit, Twilight: Breaking Dawn. We already know that Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson will be back for the 3rd (and 4th) installments whcih will be broken into two movies. This news gives us more information on who’ll be in the other Covans and Nomads!

Both movies are directed by Bill Condon and are based on the novels by author, Stephanie Meyer.

THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN — Casting Update

Summit Entertainment announced today the following have been cast in THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN for roles in The Amazon Coven, The Egyptian Coven, The Irish Coven and The Romanian Coven as well as the American and European Nomads as outlined below.

THE AMAZON COVEN

• The Amazon Coven is comprised of Tracey Heggins as Senna and Judi Shekoni as Zafrina
• Among the oldest vampires in the world, Senna and Zafrina are descendants of an ancient Amazonian tribe.  They have lived outside of civilization for centuries and therefore make no attempt to keep up a human facade. Though they drink human blood, the Amazons have long been allies of Carlisle.

• Higgins is repped by Framework Entertainment; Shekoni is repped by Visionary Entertainment as well as Venture IAB in the US and International Artistes in the UK.

THE EGYPTIAN COVEN

• The Egyptian Coven is comprised of:
  • Omar Metwally (RENDITION, MUNICH) as Amun.
  • Andrea Gabriel (Lost, House) as Kebi.
  • Rami Malek (NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM) as Benjamin.
  • Angela Sarafyan (LOVE HURTS, THE GOOD GUYS) as Tia.
• The Egyptian Coven consists of Amun, Kebi, Benjamin, and Tia, with Amun as the leader. It is stated that even though they are not a biological family, they could pass for one. Amun is extremely protective of his family and fearful of Aro.
• Metwally is repped by Untitled Entertainment and Paradigm; Gabriel is repped by Rebel Entertainment Partners; Malek is repped by WME and Kyle Fritz Management; and Sarafyan is repped by Innovative Artists.

THE IRISH COVEN

• The Irish Coven is comprised of Marlane Barnes (THE TREE OF LIFE) as Maggie, Lisa Howard as Siobhan and Patrick Brennan as Liam.
• The Irish Coven, a relatively young group, was founded by Siobhan and Liam, but Maggie’s talent made her an important element of it. They are not vegetarian but they are civilized.

• Barnes is repped by House of Representatives.

THE ROMANIAN COVEN

• The Romanian Coven is comprised of Noel Fisher (THE PACIFIC, FINAL DESTINATION 2) as Vladimir and Guri Weinberg (MUNICH) as Stefan.
• The Romanian Coven is one of the oldest covens in the world and they were the ruling vampire family until they were unseated by the Volturi.  For that reason they harbor a centuries old resentment of the Italian coven.
• Fisher is repped by New Wave Entertainment and UTA; Weinberg is repped by Howard Entertainment and Defining Artists Agency.

THE AMERICAN NOMADS

• The American Nomads are comprised of:
• Lee Pace as Garrett (Pushing Daisies, THE GOOD SHEPHERD).
• Toni Trucks (MUSIC AND LYRICS) as Mary.
• Bill Tangradi (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles) as Randall.
• Erik Odom as Peter.
• Valorie Curry (Veronica Mars) as Charlotte.

• Turned during the Revolutionary War, Garrett has chosen to live a nomadic existence, wandering the world on his own. Six months is a bit of a wait but I’m sure it’ll fly by. The US RRP is $24.99, no word yet on the UK price, but no doubt it will be available through all the usual outlets.

The Twilight: Eclipse cast have been travelling round the world promoting their new movie with premiere camps and the US box office shuddering under the weight of the third film in this franchise which grows ever larger!

In a series of interviews (check them all out here) Our friend James Kleinmann got to interview Ashley Green and Xavier Samuel about their role in Twilight: Eclipse, the third installment in the Twilight: Saga which has made a household name of Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner and are based on the books by Stephanie Meyer. He’s given the interviews to us as an exclusive premiere as he’s such a great guy!

This may not go down to well but I’ve got some vaguely high hopes for the third installment of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. From what we’ve seen so far, the new movie which stars Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart actually looks OK! Let’s face it, it can’t be any worse than Twilight: New Moon!!

The third movie is based on the book by Stephanie Meyer and is directed by David Slade. It’s out in the UK 9th July.

Yesterday, I put up some behind the scenes footage from the latest movie in the Twilight: Saga, Twilight: Eclipse. Today, we’ve got interviews from the set of the movie with all the main members of the cast and back room staff courtesy of Collider.com which includes Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, Bryce Dallas, Ashley Greene and the author of the novels on which the films are based, Stephanie Meyer.

I’m sure I don’t need to remind anyone, but the third installment of the Twilight Saga will be hitting theaters in just a few short weeks.  Now, upon hearing this news you will do one of two things: 1) squeal with delight saying “OHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGOD” or 2) let out a deep meaningful sign accompanied by a huge exaggerated eye roll that will most likely cause permanent retinal damage.  Either way, the fact remains that the film will be released and it’s going to make a boat load of cash.

I will admit, maybe a bit shamefully that I was at one time on the Twilight bandwagon. I read all four books back to back in a matter of days.  Well, consumed them would be a better description.  I had the first one finished before I saw the first movie and it continued on from there.  I did however draw the line at the films and the books.  I don’t own an Edward life size stand up or anything like that. Seriously, I don’t.

When I started to read the books, I was pretty engrossed, much to the chagrin of my roommates.  But I charged ahead, like an addict looking for that next fix.  About a year after finishing all 4 books, and seeing the first film, I went back to re-read them again before the second film came out.  I know.  You don’t have to say it.  I really don’t know what I was thinking.  As I read through them a second time, I realized that I was reading them in a completely different mindset.  Instead of reading them with stars in my eyes and songs of unrequited love in my heart, my inner sarcastic cynic came out with a vengeance.  Needless to say the romantic was thrown a beating from the cynic. It was a rumble in the jungle and the cynic won.

The second time around was more painful than anything else. Instead of fawning over Edward or Jacob, I really just wanted to reach into the books and slap Bella.  For some reason I guess I didn’t notice on the first time around just how much she talks about how beautiful Edward is.  Ok! I get it! He’s so beautiful it hurts blah blah blah. It’s enough to make a girl pull out her hair or at the very least end up with a mild case of depression.

I went to see New Moon and while I wasn’t as enamored with it as the first one, I still enjoyed it for what it was.  There was a time where after the first one was released that there was no question I would go see every segment in the theater as soon as I could get there.  I just don’t feel the same now.  Perhaps the second read through was the culprit.  Perhaps my vision had cleared and I was no longer dazzled by Edward and his sparkly skin (which, by the way, I ALWAYS found to be utterly ridiculous).

My obsession has since turned to indifference in that I won’t break my neck in order to get to the theater.  If I see it, I see it, if I don’t, I saved $8.  But listen here Stephanie Meyer….I’m on to you.  This new book you released about an inconsequential character from Eclipse is just silly.  If a prequel is in the works at any time, my head is going to explode like that scene from Scanners.

I look back on my relationship with the Twilight Saga and I just have to shake my head.  It’s a lot like 80′s fashion.  Sure, you wore those head bands, the side pony, the legwarmers, jelly shoes and black rubber bracelets, but that doesn’t mean you need to your friends to post those pictures on Facebook as a reminder.

I guess what it really boils down to is this: I don’t think I was ever a great fit for it.  For me it was a phase.  A fleeting urge to ride that pop culture phenomenon .  I don’t begrudge those who love it however.  Go have your Twilight parties and midnight screenings.  I have a 12 year old in my house who would totally do all of those things if she could.  Of course I’ll take her to see Eclipse as well as Breaking Dawn.  But I don’t foresee myself reading the saga for a 3rd time.  Twice was enough and I don’t have enough patience to get through them again.  So go forth you crazy Twi-hards!  I’ll be sitting here patiently waiting for the release of the next film in a franchise that will never get old.  Bring on the next Harry Potter!

On Friday, Robert Pattinson got his own character banner for his new movie, Twilight: Eclipse and therefore it’s only fair that Kristen Stewart gets one too.I expect we’ll see one of Taylor Lautner (Jacob) pop up in the near future.

Twilight: Eclipse sees werewolves (Taylor Lautner), vampires (Robert Pattinson) and humans (Kristen Stewart) come back together for another ‘gripping’ adventure where all three will go up against the vampire Royal Family called the Volturi – let’s just hope it’s better than the second movie, Twilight: New Moon otherwise I’m walking out! This movie is directed by David Slade who has previously brought us another vampire movie, 30 Days of Night so I’m hoping for a really dark side to The  Twilight Saga that we’ve not seen yet in the previous two movies.

The world seems to have gone Twilight: Eclipse poster mad and Robert Pattinson now has his own one for the third installment of the movie which also stars Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart. Now please correct me if you know different but from my Google translation I think this poster is Portuguese but i apologise now if i am completely wrong! Twilight: Eclipse is the third book written by Stephanie Meyer and is directed by David Slade.

The movie also stars Bryce Dallas Howard, Ashley Greene, Billy Burke, Peter Facinelli, Elizabeth Reaser, Nikki Reed, Kellan Lutz, Jackson Rathbone, Michael Sheen and Dakota Fanning.

Summit Entertainment are seriously smashing out the promotional material for Twilight: Eclipse but let’s face it, they’re going to make a return on their money! For some reason, this franchise has gone ballistic and everytime we post something Twilight on here, we’re inundated with Twihard (welcome one and all!).

This new banner is to advertise the fact that Twilight: Eclipse is going to be available in IMAX on the 30th June. In actual fact it’s coming to the UK 9th July so a little longer to wait there. The movie stars Kristen Stewart, Taylor Laytner and Robert Pattinson in their quest for love and happiness!

Summit Entertainment are gearing up for the third installment of the movie that blasted them into becoming a large studio. Twilight: Eclipse is based on the book by Stephanie Meyer and follows Twilight and Twilight: New Moon which was released last year. The fourth movie is scheduled for release 2011 and there are rumour that they’ll break it into two parts.

The movies stars Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart as a vampire, a werewolf and a Human respectively. This new clips shows Dakota Fanning and some of the Volturi (the closest thing that you can get to a Royal Family in the vampire world) watching over a bunch of other vampires attacking their prey. I love the way in which they’ve made their eyes so red with the bleak background accentuating them.

Twilight: Eclipse is released in the US 30th June and the UK 9th July.

In this funny old world of the internet, it seems that we are now getting teaser trailers for teaser trailers…. if that makes sense?! Good news for all the Twilight fans out there, today we have a new 10 second preview of the new trailer for Twilight: Eclipse which is being release tomorrow afternoon GMT / Morning PST.

Twilight: Eclipse is the 3rd book by Stephanie Meyer in the 4 book series. The movie also stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart. If you were worried that Lautner might not be taking his top off again in the 3rd instalment of the movie, fear not as I can confirm that he does!

With New Moon, the second installment of the Twilight saga, on its way to our cinema screens (you may have seen that HeyUGuys has gone a little Twilight-crazy over the last few weeks…) HUG writer Kelly Alyse has taken a look at the first movie Twilight to see why we’ve become so obsessed by the story of this unusual couple.

For a start they are the essence of cool. When you watch Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart in an interview, they’re very laid back and calm. But their relationship in the film is anything but. Director Catherine Hardwicke needed to cast the perfect couple, and you’re intrigued by them from the very first instant you see them.

On first setting eyes on Edward Bella asks the question “˜Who’s he?’, from that  moment we also want to know the answer. Hardwicke uses a close-up of Bella’s face, as the music becomes a lot more intense when Edward walks into the room. The tension builds as there is a mid-shot of Edward’s pale yet perfect body, then there is a tracking shot of Edward’s face to see every reaction possible. We’re not given a moment to rest and there is a gently released close-up on each of their faces. It’s a good job they’re pretty with all these close-ups…

The couple are also placed in a lot of dimly lit situations, which are normally quite romantic; as in the restaurant or on the stand filled with fairy lights at the prom. It creates an idealistic view that every girl wants ““ to be wined and dined by a mysterious, romantic man (well, vampire…). There is a particular scene which is completely captivating, the famous first kiss scene in Bella’s bedroom. The camera remains static on a close-up two shot of both their faces. They gradually begin to get closer, and without any music to distract you from the situation you’re only focused around the action about to take place. When their lips finally meet it is passionate and exciting. But suddenly we’re taken away from it by Edward flying backwards. It basically just leaves you wanting more.

The banter between the two is great. “˜Your mood swings are kinda giving me whiplash’ or “˜so the lion fell in love with the lamb’ are just two of the great quotes this film has created. And with the passionate tone apparently continuing through the second installment, we’re bound to be quoting this film for another year until we’re given Eclipse, the penultimate movie in the series.
