Directed by Kriv Stenders (The Illustrated Family Doctor, Blacktown), written by Dan Taplitz (Chaos Theory, Breakin’ All the Rules, Commandments), the film was shot on location in Western Australia, and is based on the novel by Louis De Bernieres (Captain Corelli’s Mandolin).

Star Wars hits cinemas today with one extra dimension than we saw back in 1999 when the movie was first released, back then there was so much hype and anticipation for the movie that everyone thought was going to be the greatest prequel of all time. Unfortunately, although the movie made an absolute fortune, it is inherently rubbish (feel free to disagree in the comments below) making you want to punch the screen in anger.

This video has found it’s way onto YouTube and is a special MTV screening from 1999 at Skywalker Ranch that George Lucas put on for as many celebs as possible before anyone had really seen it. Like I say, the movie had so much hype that literally everyone wanted to be there as this video shows.

In the video, we get to see interviews with a very young looking Elijah Wood, Justin Timberlake (as part of N-Sync at the time), Ozzy Osbourne, Tori Spelling, Katie Holmes (before she’d married her now-husband Tom Cruise) to name but a few all with The Backstreet Boys playing in the background. It’s all rather surreal but what get’s me is the anticipation for something so great!

Fans of the Jurassic Park trilogy will already be glued to their newly released Blu-ray boxset and following our interview with Ariana Richards at the start of the week we’ve got another interview with someone who, less directly, was also partially responsible for the films.

Filmbeat travelled to Montana to speak with the man who inspired the character of Alan Grant in the Jurassic Park trilogy, Paleotologist Jack Horner. He was also a lead technical adviser for the films. He’s the kind of guy you want doing the commentary for the films and he seems pleased that his work inspired thousands of kids to take up the spade*.

We seem to have gone a little Halloween crazy at the moment but we know that so many of you love a good horror film that it’s hard not to! I’ve the past couple of days, there have been quite a few different featurette’s released on other movie sites for True Grit. You can see the costume featurette on Clothes on Film here, the featurette looking at the cinematography here, a look at the story here on Sky and now Paramount have chosen us to debut our very own featurette giving us a look at the score from the movie.

The score for True Grit was composed by veteran movie composer, Carter Burwell. He has a long relationship wokring with the Coen Brothers and has now scored a multitude of movies including The Big Lebowski, Raising Arizona, Fargo and has more recently worked on The Blind Side, The Twilight Saga to name but a few!

In this featurette, he talks about how he decided to use church music in the score, as well as talking us through how his music tells it’s own story but works seamlessly with the movie’s visuals. He also talks about how he learns from his musicians when they come to record. This featurette really is fascinating if you’re a fan of movie scores like I am and I think you’ll like this one.

We’ve not had True Grit hit the cinema yet but from what we’re hearing about the movie, it’s going to be rather a good one to look out for (our review hits next week). With the Oscars just around the corner, all the studios are doing their best to promote their movies from all the angles they possibly can. THR (via Collider) have released this new featurette which gives us a closer look at the cinematography by Roger Deakins from True Grit. I urge you to have a watch of it as it’s just fantastic.

The Orange British Academy Film Awards take place on Sunday 13 February

It is a film that’s long been on the HeyUGuys radar and in a few weeks the world will return to Flynn’s arcade for Disney’s Tron: Legacy.

The marketing blitz for this film has been greater and more constant than any I can remember, with many trailers, images, featurettes, as well as our own coverage for the film, whetting appetites which will finally be sated on the 17th of December when the film is released.

It’s almost time for Disney to unleash Joseph Kosinski’s Tron: Legacy and I can’t remember a marketing onslaught for a film to be so constant, with new posters and images coming at an alarming rate over the last year.

We’ve seen twenty minutes of footage, spoken to the director , the producer and stars and next month sees the grand unveiling, the return to Flynn’s Arcade for what promises to be a spectacular and visually stunning movie.
