Piranha 3d looks like it could quite possibly be terrible but I’m still looking forward to it! It stars Eli Roth, Dina Meyer, Adam Scott, Ving Rhames, Richard Dreyfuss, Elisabeth Shue, Brook, is directed by Alexandre Aja and is released 20th August in the UK.

The movie is based on the Warren Ellis’ comic book and is directed by Robert Schwentke. The movie looks like a real blast and great fun. The supporting cast includes Karl Urban, Richard Dreyfuss and Brian Cox.

Synopsis: Frank, Joe, Marvin, and Victoria used to be the CIA’s top agents — but the secrets they know just made them the Agency’s top targets. Now framed for assassination, they must use all of their collective cunning, experience and teamwork to stay one step ahead of their deadly pursuers and stay alive. I’ve got no release date for this movie in the UK but it’s out in the US 15th October.

Piranha has a pretty good cast of Hollywood has-beens but a lot of them are still legends in my mind. Elizabeth Shue reappears after a while away from the big screen, Christopher Lloyd pops up alongside Richard Dreyfuss, Ving Rhames and Eli Roth. It really is an eclectic cast in a movie that looks like it’s going to be rather average. The CGI on the fish looks pretty ropey from the trailer but i guess we’ll have to wait and see what the finished product looks like.

All that said, will i go and see it?! Heck yeah!!! Piranha 3d is released in the UK 20th August and the US 27th so it looks like we get another film before them over there again! YAY!

Predictably this new Piranha film,directed by Alexandre Aja, is being released theatrically in 3D. Although it has hard to have high hopes for this remake the film  looks truly terrible based on the teaser below. Although I am a fan of schlocky B movies I wonder if Piranha 3-D actually has anything new or interesting to offer. Check out the teaser and see what you think.

Not a Walt Whitman ‘Bright Star’ type biopic, Leaves of Grass sees Norton joined by Susan Sarandon, Richard Dreyfuss and Melanie Lynskey for this pharmaceutical comedy which sees Norton play twin brothers whose lives took a divergent turn, one who leaves their hometown for the academic heights of the Ivy League and the other who stays behind to deal drugs. The trailer has found its way online and is available below (please note it contains swearing).

Hoisted back to his hometown by some tragic news the brothers reunite to deal with small town drug lords, the fragmentation of the family and a whole lot of green. What seems an Adaptation inspired movie, Leaves of Grass has a great cast and looks to make the most of them.

One to watch.
