Jonah Hill is a busy man, and with his a sojourn in 21 Jump Street in our future we sat down with the man to talk about his latest film, The Sitter.

The film has David Gordon Green​ behind the camera whose recent Your Highness wasn’t the success the talent promised and it is hoped that The Sitter is a return to form. Along with Hill the film stars Ari Graynor​, Eddie Rouse, Max Records​, Sam Rockwell & D.W. Moffett.

Here’s a succinct synopsis to tease and intrigue,

A comedy about a college student on suspension who is coaxed into babysitting the kids next door, though he is fully unprepared for the wild night ahead of him.

If you’ve missed the trailer and our over coverage from Jesse Eisenberg’s new movie, 30 Minutes or Less, then click here as they’re well worth a watch. The movie is directed by Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland) and stars Aziz Ansari , Jesse Eisenberg , Danny McBride, Michael Pena and Nick Swardson.

As you’ll see from the trailer, it looks pretty silly just like Zombieland was but no doubt will be a pretty good hoot (a word not used enough these days!).

Synopsis: Nick is a small town pizza delivery guy whose mundane life collides with the big plans of two wanna-be criminal masterminds. The volatile duo kidnaps Nick and forces him to rob a bank. With mere hours to pull off the impossible task, Nick enlists the help of his ex-best friend, Chet. As the clock ticks, the two must deal with the police, hired assassins, flamethrowers, and their own tumultuous relationship.

This new poster released by Columbia Picture is pretty similar to the ones we’ve seen already.

30 Minutes or Less is released in UK cinemas 23rd September and US cinemas August 12th.

The title of this post pretty much does what it says on the tin! New movie, The Sitter is in fact, an 18 rated version of 1987 movie Adventures in Babysitting and therefore it looks awesome! Where as AiB starred Elizabeth Shue, this one sees Jonah Hill take the reigns as the babysitter in what has the potential to be a very funny movie!

I discovered Jaume Balaguero and Paco Plaza’s first Rec film this week in preparation for our Rec 2 review on the latest episode of the Mouth Off Podcast, and I was suitably enthralled with is claustrophobic nastiness.

You can read our review of the Rec sequel which hit UK cinemas yesterday, and listen to us chew over the merits (or lack) of the Rec series on the podcast, and if you’re waiting to see what the creators have in store for the sequel then you can check out this new Red Band trailer which debuted today.

Be warned though – it does gives pretty broad hints as the deeper mystery explored in the film, so if you want to remain unspoiled as the pure white snow then look away now…

Universal’s companion piece to 2008′s Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Get Him to the Greek, has a new poster which does the job of explaining the film’s premise in case anyone was unsure.

The film sees Russell Brand reprising his role as Aldous Snow from Forgetting Sarah Marshall and new boy Jonah Hill (who has his perplexed look in every shot I’ve seen so far) as a music industry lackey who has to Get Him to a comeback concert. The conceit is that he’s a bit of a womanising egomaniac, so expect hilarity to ensue.

The red band trailer didn’t look all bad, and with Brand making waves in Hollywood (with a role in the forthcoming remake of Arthur) this one could lead the way for the US to take him into their trousers and arms like most of the people in the UK seem to.

The excellent people at Live For Films showed us the way with this one, thanks be.

Get Him to the Greek will reunite the tight-trousered oddball Russell Brand with his Forgetting Sarah Marshall director Nicholas Stoller (who is himself busy with the new Muppet Movie), to tell the story of a rock star with an ego the size of Belgium getting to a comeback gig.

Throw Jonah Hill in the mix this film starts to look like another hit for Universal. Russell Brand is an acquired taste, but has made quite a name for himself over the pond and while Aldous Snow is little more than an extension of Brand’s well known comedy persona there’s a glimmer in his eye that makes for interesting viewing.

The latest trailer to hit for this one in anticipation of its June 2010 release is a red band one, which in English is 18+ so those younger than that will have to click away now.

The fever pitch surrounding this film almost precludes the necessity of writing anything other than the title to this post.

If you’re looking forward to Matthew Vaughn’s comic book adaptation Kick-Ass then you’ll love this new red band (18+ for us Brits) trailer for the film, which contains a lot of the footage we’ve seen before but splices in some new stuff we’ve not seen.

There is a tangible excitement to watching the footage Lionsgate are putting out for this one, and if you’re in the mood for a bit of the new ultraviolence on a Friday afternon – why not take a look below.

When not railing against the airline industry on Twitter Kevin Smith has a new film coming out, a buddy movie previously known as A Couple of Dicks, now retitled Cop Out, and there’s a new clip on the internets today.

There’s been a great theatrical trailer (and its hilarious red band version) for the Bruce Willis and Tracy Morgan comedy, and the new clip gives us an excellent look at the smart, foul mouthed hilarity that only Smith can deliver.

It involves Willis and Morgan trading jokes with an arrested felon (Seann William Scott) as it acts as a great teaser to the balls out wit that is sure to permeate the film.

MovieWeb had the goods on show first, and the clip is embedded below, working people may not wish to play this one out loud while the boss is hovering…

We’ve seen the green band trailer for Bruce Willis’ Cop Out already but what’s the point in watching a trailer for a 15 / 18 movie without seeing it in it’s true light? Today, MySpace have released the new red band trailer for the movie and it looks excellent.

Cop Out also stars Tracy Morgan, Seann William Scott, Rashida Jones, Kevin Pollak and is directed by Kevin Smith. It’s set for release 26th February and we’ll hopefully get a review of it soon for you.

Remember this is red band so you have to be 17 to watch it.

When the green band theatrical trailer came out for, ‘She’s out of my League’, it was pretty obvious that they’d had to tone it down to get it into cinemas. But the wonders of the internet are such that red band trailers come out when you least expect them to and they can contain the version that the makers of the movie, in this case Paramount and Dreamworks, actually want you to see.

Synopsis: In the comedy “She’s Out of My League,” Kirk (Jay Baruchel, “Knocked Up,” “Tropic Thunder”), an average Joe, can’t believe his luck.  Though he’s stuck in a seemingly dead-end job as an airport security agent, against all odds, Molly (Alice Eve), a successful and outrageously gorgeous babe, falls for him.  Kirk is stunned. So are his friends, his family and even his ex-girlfriend. Now he has to figure out how to make the relationship work, even though he’d be the first to admit she’s totally out of his league.

She’s out of My League is released 23rd April. Check out the new red band trailer below, as long as you’re over 17 of course!

What do you do when you think your husband (Liam Neeson) is cheating on you? Confront him, leave him? Not if you’re Julianne Moore in Chloe,  oh no! You hire an attractive escort in the form of Amanda Seyfried and get her to seduce him to find out, when, if he’s propositioned, what exactly he’ll do. Obviously, things don’t go completely to plan as you’ll see in this new French red band trailer for the movie directed by Atom Egoyan.

Chloe is based on the French movie, Nathalie and premiered at the London Film Festival. Jon’s review is up here if you’re eager to find out what happens. If not, it’s released 5th March at your local cinema and you can check out the new trailer below. Beware, it is red band for a reason!

A brand new red-band trailer has been released for From Paris with Love which stars John Travolta and Jonathan Rhys Meyers courtsey of BeyondHollywood.com. It’s directed by Pierre Morel who is tipped to direct the Dune.

From Paris with Love should be with us 5th March and after seeing this red band trailer, I’m not looking forward to seeing it more than I was before!

It’s a whole new year so why not celebrate with a brand new red brand trailer for one of the movies we’re looking forward to seeing. Michael Cera’s new movie, Youth in Revolt is released 5th February and this new red band trailer gives us a better look at Cera doing what he does best…. making us laugh with his usual craziness!

Youth in Revolt also stars Portia Doubleday, Jean Smart, Mary Kay Plac and is directed by Miguel Arteta.

Synopsis: Youth in Revolt is a tale of love, drama, and comedy. Twisp sees everyone around him in relationships and more importantly making love. He meets Sheeni and through many failed attempts at seducing her, decides that he must create an alternate persona for himself that can do and be all the things that he can’t. This new persona is older, contemptuous of authority, and irresistible to women. Youth in Revolt seems to continue Cera’s comedic style of awkward situations and quick witted commentary.

Tis the season and all that – and we’ve seen a blood-Red Band Trailer for Kick-Ass which was featured Hit Girl on a rampage and now we’ve got a look at Repo Men, directed by Miguel Sapochnik and starring Liev Schreiber,  Forest Whitaker and Dr. Watson himself, Jude Law.

Law looks like he’s having the time of his life in this trailer, and the whole premise of artificial organs being repossessed by force is an interesting one and Sapochnik appears to have cast his film well – Whitaker and Law make for a likeable pair.

It’s a Red Band trailer so be warned, but I think it captures the kinetic spirit of the film, though it doesn’t fuel the bloodstream like Hit Girl did earlier this week…

It’s a slow week for movie releases, with Fantastic Mr. Fox the only release of note in the UK, along with Cirque Du Freak. Most of the remaining big films this year are due out in November and December.  

So, with the big winter films already hyped to the max, and with Iron Man 2, Clash of the Titans and Robin Hood being the highly anticipated movies this Spring, I thought i’d take a look at some Spring movies that maybe aren’t getting the attention they deserve – The Losers, Green Zone, A Couple of Dicks, Machete and Kick-Ass. Note, this is a list of the films i’m personally looking forward to, so you won’t necessarily agree with me…

 The Losers

When is it? – 9th April.
 
Where is it? – Currently filming in Puerto Rico
 
Who is it? – Directed by Sylvain White, starring Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Chris Evans, Zoe Saldana, Jason Patric.
 
What is it? – Based on the short lived DC comic series, it follows members of a CIA black ops team that are betrayed and left for dead. The team goes out to hunt down the people that tried to kill them.
 
Why am i excited? – Jeffrey Dean Morgan is brilliant in everything he does, from John Winchester to The Comedian. Zoe Saldana is one of the hottest properties in Hollywood, with roles in this years Star Trek and the upcoming Avatar. And Chris Evans is vastly under-rated, having to try and shine in films like Fantastic Four and Push. The plot actually sounds very similar to next year’s The Expendables, and whilst Sly’s action all-stars will easily out-gross The Losers, the great source material means The Losers should have a much better storyline. Word has it this movie will roughly follow issues 1 to 12, leaving ample material for a franchise if its successful.
 
But? – White is an inexperienced director, with I’ll Always Know What You Did Last Summer one of his few credits. And writer Peter Berg was responsible for the mess that was Very Bad Things.

 Kick-Ass

When? – 16th April (USA)
 
Where? – In the can
 
Who? – Directed by Matthew Vaughn, and co-written with Mrs Jonathan Ross Jane Goldman. Starring Nicholas Cage, Aaron Johnson and Christopher Mintz-Plasse.
 
What? - A young schoolboy decides to become a superhero, despite a distinct lack of super powers.
 
Why? – Kick-ass was struggling to find a distributor, due to some slightly questionable content – said to be mainly due to the presence of Hitgirl, an 11 year old schoolgirl assassin. Vaughn took some footage to comic-con, which got a standing ovation, and a bidding war was triggered. Lionsgate won, but considering they’ve been distributor for every Marv Films production (Vaughn’s production company), this wasn’t all that surprising. The leaked trailer showed a fairly even mix of comedy and stylistic action. 

 But? – The team of Vaughn and Goldman achieved success with their first film Stardust, but will have to have stepped up their game for Kick-Ass – Vaughn hasn’t really done action, and worryingly there were rumours he ducked out of X-men as he felt out of his depth.

 Green Zone

When? – 12th March
 
Where? – In the can
 
Who? – Directed by British director Paul Greengrass, and written by Brian Helgeland. Starring Matt Damon, Jason Isaacs, Greg Kinnear and Brendan Gleeson.
 
What? - A thriller about a pair of CIA agents on the trail of WMDs, and a foreign correspondent following their mission 
 
Why? – Greengrass has shown great talent for compelling drama with Bloody Sunday and United 93, and great action with Bourne’s Supremacy and Ultimatum. This, coupled with his working relationship with Damon developed during those Bourne films, makes him the perfect man for the job. United 93 was based on a politically and socially sensitive subject, and the majority feel he handled it well. Damon’s career has improved dramatically thanks to his work as Jason Bourne, and this year has shown his diversity with a career performance in Steven Soderbergh’s The Informant. The book it is based on is a non-fictional account of the early days of the invasion of Iraq, when political relations were perched on a knife edge. The book was written by real life journalist, so historic details should be fairly accurate.

But? – Some attendees of very early focus group screenings have criticised perceived overuse of shaky-cam, but the film wrapped some months ago, so there’s been plenty of time for post-production.

 Machete

When? - 16th April (USA)
 
Where? – In post
 
Who? – Written and Directed by Robert Rodriguez, and starring Danny Trejo, Cheech Marin, Jessica Alba, Robert de Niro, Lindsay Lohan, Don Johnson.
 
What? – Based on the fake trailer shown between Tarantino and Rodriguez’ Grindhouse double feature of Death Proof and Planet Terror. Based on an idea formed by Rodriguez back during Desperado, the titular Machete, Danny Trejo, is an assassin on the FBI’s payroll. He is double-crossed, and is now out for revenge, pursued by FBI agent Alba.
 
Why? – The trailer is really cool, in a crazy over-the-top kinda way. Word is Rodriguez has cut all the scenes from the trailer into the movie, and built the rest of the story around them. Rodriguez had a big hit with Sin City, which suggested he may be beginning to find his form again. Danny Trejo is due a lead role, following two decades of bit-part characters. Cheech Marin is always great to watch, and is reunited here with Johnson; they’ve worked together in Tin Cup and tv series Nash Bridges.
 
But? – Once Upon a Time in Mexico was a bit off a mess, and the Spy Kids pictures Rodriguez is now known for are as far removed from this kind of movie as you can get.

 A Couple of Dicks/A Couple of Cops – Now Cop Out!

When? – 26th February  

Where? – In post
 
Who? – Directed by Kevin Smith, written by Mark and Robb Cullen. Starring Bruce Willis, Sean William Scott, Michelle Trachtenberg, Adam Brody.
 
What? – The dicks in question are two cops, and the movie follows them through a series of hilarious situations.
 
Why? – This is the first movie Smith has directed that he didn’t write, so he must have been impressed by the screenplay. As listeners of Smith’s Smodcast podcasts know, he is a genuinely funny guy with a great feel for comedy. Despite a career based mainly on action movies, Willis has also shown a talent for comedy. He did, after all, start off in comedy series Moonlighting. After meeting Smith, Bruce took a liking to him and specifically wanted to work with him. 
 
But? – This is Smith’s first feature without regular producer, Smodcast co-host and friend, Scott Mosier. Willis has a reputation for poor script choices, and, barring 2005′s Sin City, hasn’t had a big hit for 10 years.
