He may not be particularly well known, but Ben Foster is an actor destined for big things, and he’s now been cast in another brilliant role, playing the son of mob boss John Gotti, Sr., in Gotti: In The Shadow Of My Father, Deadline report.

That role is to be taken by the amazing John Travolta, perfect for the part, and I can’t wait to see Foster and Travolta starring opposite each other leading what’s sure to be an immense mob film.

We first heard back in January that Travolta was set to star as Gotti, Sr., so things have been looking pretty great from the get-go with this project. Alongside Travolta and Foster, the film is also set to star Kelly Preston, Joe Pesci, and someone you may or may not have heard of from earlier mob films, Al Pacino.

According to Deadline, though, Pesci is currently in the process of suing producer Fiore Films over the film, saying that he had been promised the role of Gotti, Sr.’s right-hand man, Angelo Ruggiero, along with a $3m. paycheque, and now they’re offering him $1m. and a lesser role. So whether or not Pesci will be staying on board for the project, and in what role we’ll be seeing him in if he does, remains unknown.

Originally, the project was to be helmed by Nick Cassavetes (The Notebook, Alpha Dog), and written by Leo Rossi (Analyze This), but Cassavetes has since exited the film and has been replaced by Academy Award-winning director Barry Levinson (Rain Man), who will now also be working on script work with Rossi and James Toback. Rossi, who’s been working on the project from the beginning, has also been meeting with real-life Gotti, Jr., who has been helping give an inside look and answering questions about events in order to create as authentic a feel as possible for the film, which is,

“Based on the life of John Gotti, Jr. and his relationship with his infamous father. The movie reveals the relationship of a father who lived and died by the mob code and a son who chose to leave that world behind and redeem himself. Never before has there been such an inside look at the life of one of the Gotti family and their world of danger, betrayal and redemption.”

It was first to be titled, Gotti: Three Generations, but I’m loving the new subtitle, In The Shadow Of My Father, much more. It certainly suggests that Foster’s role is going to be front and centre on this project, and I can’t wait to see him lead this with Travolta.

He was exceptional in Alpha Dog back in 2006, and again in 30 Days of Night a year later, and we’ll soon get to see him alongside Woody Harrelson in Rampart, in Ridley Scott’s highly anticipated Prometheus, and in next year’s thriller, Contraband, with Mark Wahlberg, Kate Beckinsale, and Giovanni Ribisi. If you aren’t already, Foster is definitely a rising actor to keep your eye on.

It’s unavoidable now to talk about Kevin Spacey’s latest film, Casino Jack, without mentioning the very sad news of the death of director George Hickenlooper at the age of only 47.

And as the marketing push behind the film carries on and tributes are paid to the man who directed the Apocalypse Now documentary Hearts of Darkness and Factory Girl, we’ve got a new poster for the film, which centres on the political shenanigans of con/business-man Jack Abramoff.

Yahoo have debuted a new clip from Kevin Spacey’s new movie, Casino Jack. I’ll let the synopsis do the talking but tghe movie also stars Barry Pepper, Kelly Preston, Rachelle Lefevre and Jon Lovitz. It’s directed by George Hickenlooper and in this clip shows Spacey losing a $50k bet in one swing of golf – on a runway (sort of!)!

Synopsis: Jack Abramoff plays in the same game as the highest of rollers and resorts to awe-inspiring levels of conning, scheming and fraudulent antics to get what he wants. Aided by his business partner Michael Scanlon, Jack parlays his clout over some of the world’s most powerful men with the goal of creating a personal empire of wealth and influence. When the two enlist a mob-connected buddy to help with one of their illegal schemes, they soon find themselves in over their heads, entrenched in a world of mafia assassins, murder and a scandal that spins so out of control that it makes worldwide headlines.

Casino Jack is released in the US this December. No news as to when we get it yet I’m afraid.

Disgraced Washington D.C. businessman and lobbyist Jack Abramoff has already inspired the documentary Casino Jack and the United States of Money by Alex Gibney and now there’s a new trailer out for the big screen Kevin Spacey version of the sorry tale.

Originally titled Bagman to avoid confusion, Casino Jack sees Spacey as the business/con man doing deals and defrauding left, right and centre, while spinning in the most exclusive of political circles.

As this is a recent real-life story the trailer doesn’t hold back and there’s seemingly enough flair in George Hickenlooper’s direction and with Barry Pepper and Kelly Preston on hand to lend support Spacey looks like having another winner on his hands.

I know there’s the Lex Luthor connection but there are moments, particularly towards the end of the trailer where Spacey is a dead ringer for Gene Hackman.

The film, and Abramoff himself, will be released in December of this year.

Just got home from the preview screening of The Last Song (directed by Julie Anne Robinson) and I thought I’d share a clip with you that Disney just sent over.

The Last Song is Miley Cyrus’ new movie about a teenage girl called Ronnie (Cyrus) who, with her brother (Bobby Coleman), is shipped off to live with their father (Greg Kinnear) for a summer vacation. Things haven’t been going too well at home and her mother (Kelly Preston) decides a summer vacation in the sun, sea and sand of Georgia will do her some good… especially when she meets Will (Liam Hemsworth).

The last song is based on the book by Nicholas Sparks so immediately, you know it’ll be a tear jerker!

The Last Song is released 30th April and stay tuned for some exclusive interviews in the coming weeks.

Quite possibly the most annoying girl on the planet, Miley Cyrus has a new trailer out for her new movie, The Last Song which has been debuted on Yahoo. It’s directed by Julie Anne Robinson and also stars Liam Hemsworth, Greg Kinnear and Kelly Preston.

The movie is based on the book by Nicholas Sparks (author of The Notebook) and tells the story of a rebellious teenager has to spend the summer with her estranged father who is a concert pianist.

Anyway, this movie brings John Travolta together with Robin Williams in a new Disney comedy which looks like it might be quite entertaining. It has a great supporting cast which includes Kelly Preston, Seth Green, Ella Bleu Travolta, Lori Loughlin and Matt Dillon.
