With a bonus material-packed Blu-ray of this summer’s blockbuster hit Captain America: The First Avenger on its way, Marvel have given us a sneak peak at one of the deleted scenes from the film to stir up anticipation ahead of its release in early December.

The short clip begins with one of The First Avenger’s more lighthearted moments – a USO show in which Cap (Chris Evans) is seen on stage with a lineup of beautiful, high-kicking dancers – before cutting to the Battle at Azzano, a fierce gunfight in which Dum Dum Dugan (Neal McDonough), Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) and their team find themselves confronted by a terrifying new HYDRA weapon that threatens to turn the tide of the war.

Unlike a lot of deleted scenes that pop up on DVD and Blu-ray this one is seriously good quality and virtually complete, with only the final visual effects shot of HYDRA’s weapon remaining unfinished. And while the sequence doesn’t add anything new to the film’s plot, it’s still an enjoyable glimpse at a minute and a half of cut footage from what I think we would all agree was one of this summer’s more enjoyable blockbusters.

ComingSoon.net have got a nice new set of photos that have been released from the upcoming Marvel summer blockbuster, Captain America: The First Avenger, which is due out at the end of this month, on 29^th July.

They show us more of Chris Evans kitted out in his superhero costume, which I’ve really been warming to over the past few months, as well as a number of the other leads in the film and some pretty mean looking HYDRA operatives.

The film stars Chris Evans, Hugo Weaving, Tommy Lee Jones, Hayley Atwell, Sebastian Stan, Stanley Tucci, Dominic Cooper, Neal McDonough, Toby Jones, and Derek Luke. The photos aren’t incredibly revealing, and follow the same feel the rest of the ad campaign for this film, which has been just what I like; no major spoilers, but they still give you a nice taste of what to expect. The last picture is my personal pick of the bunch, simply because five of the six guys in the shot have identical weapons, and the sixth (Derek Luke) on the far right seems to have an ever so slightly more advanced one. A bit of a case of “Shotgun!” I think.

If you missed it a few days ago, we were also treated to some excerpts from the film’s score (which you can hear here), and if you’ve got a few minutes spare, I highly recommend listening to at least the first clip, which starts at the 2:34 mark, because it really does get you excited and into a Captain America mood. With only three weeks to go now, there’s really not long to wait to see what director Joe Johnston’s done with the iconic Marvel character. Without further ado, here are the new photos. Due out at the end of this month on 29^th July, Captain America: The First Avenger is undoubtedly near the top of a lot of people’s lists of films to see this summer, mine including.

I’ve loved all of the images and trailers that we’ve been privy to so far (brownie points to everyone who saw the nod to Captain American in Iron Man 2 last year), and now ComingSoon.net have a number of great samples taken from the upcoming film’s score.

The film has been scored by twice Oscar-nominated Alan Silvestri (Forrest Gump, The Polar Express), whose music I must say I’m not extremely familiar with; his name is not one that personally comes to mind like Hans Zimmer, John Williams, Danny Elfman, or James Newton Howard. Listening to the clips from the score though, I’m definitely impressed by what I’ve heard of it so far, and am even more excited now to see the film itself.

New York City’s WQXR played the clips at the weekend during their Movies on the Radio segment, and ‘ReallrOnMan’ was kind enough to put up the clips online for us all to benefit from. They start at 2:34 minutes into the clip and continue on, fading in and out between tracks. Interspersed throughout, and kicking them all off, is an incredibly American-oriented theme, which is absolutely perfect for the film. From what we can hear so far, Silvestri has got the soundtrack spot on; and I really can’t wait to be able to listen to the rest of it and watch the film to see what music goes with what visuals.

Alan Silvestri’s Captain America: TFA (OST)… by IrOnMaNSM

So, a whole assortment of comic book characters are out of the blocks and the reviews and numbers are coming in.

Critically speaking, Thor and X-Men: First Class seem to have fared best, with Green Lantern taking a bit of a pounding. Commercially, Thor has done pretty well ($430m+ so far), X-Men is closing in on $300m (with no 3D uplift and having been out for less time than Thor so far) and Green Lantern posted an impressive $50m+ opening weekend in the US. Whether those savage reviews will send it tumbling down the charts before long, only time will tell.

Next into the fray? The First Avenger himself, Captain America. Before they sorted out the silly wings on his mask he looked a bit daft, but now he seems to look okay. Whether Chris Evans’ considerable charisma can help compensate for the fact that Captain America is a less well known Marvel character, we will have to see.

Ryan Reynolds should have been able to rescue Green Lantern from some of its ridiculousness and pomposity, but it wound up a little po-faced when it should have enjoyed some of Thor’s humour and silliness. Will Captain America get the tone right, or will it fail to engage us?

After all of that speculation and philosophising, here are some concept stills as well as a couple of on set shots, to help get you further in the mood for Joe Johnston’s film, which gets its release on 22nd July in the US and 29th July here in Blighty.

Jurassic Park, Steven Spielberg‘s prehistoric opus, along with it’s two sequels, is set to début on Blu-ray – now at least 65 million years in the offing.

The Digital Bits (via /Film) have allegedly confirmed with Universal Pictures that the franchise – consisting of two Steven Spielberg films and Joe Johnson’s criminally underrated second sequel – will land on Blu-ray some time in 2012.

With another sequel rumoured, however – providing Spielberg can OK a script, Johnson is apparently enthusiastic to direct – it is unlikely this will be the definitive collection.

Whatever the future holds, the franchise has a lot to offer and will likely prove a welcome addition to the Blu-ray medium. Although unofficial at best, Blu-ray.com have hinted at the potential packaging.

So, will you be returning to Jurassic Park?

It’s a very slow Monday news-wise but CBM have come to our rescue spotting this seriously cheesy photo via @briantruitt‘s twitter account showing the cover of USA Weekly with a couple of Chris’s on there! They aren’t just anyone though, they are Chris Hemsworth (aka Thor) and Chris Evans (aka Captain America from Captain America: The First Avenger) in their civvies!

Let’s face it, this photos is completely cheestastic. It made me laugh and I hope it did you too! Looking at it a bit more closely, anyone thinking that the Chris Hemsworth photo might be CG? Either than or it’s been Photoshopped to the hilt!

Following on from the full length trailer that Paramount / Marvel released last week, we’ve got a few new images from their new movie, Captain America: The First Avenger. One of the images (that would be the explosive one!) shows Hayley Atwell from when they were shooting in Manchester and is one of the first images that we put up for the movie last year. The next image shows Atwell and conducting a scene in Surrey, another place where I got to visit to grab some photos from Captain America. You can see the photos I got from my visit here. I think I just missed the filming though unfortunately but the set was pretty much all still there.

The Superbowl TV spot for Captain America was our first real look at the world Joe Johnston has created and it did its job admirably, and now there’s a new trailer out for Marvelites to enjoy thanks to the guys at The Insider and a massive nod to the fine chaps at CBM for the heads up.

So frustrating!!! It would appear that Paramount have opted for released the first full-length trailer for Captain America: The First Avenger in multiple 6 second clips meaning if we have a two minute trailer on our hands, we have another 17 of these to come! Just release it already!!

This is all getting rather annoying as we all just want the full length version which is rumoured to either hit this evening or tomorrow. The second it’s up, we’ll get it posted but in the meantime, here’s another 12 seconds to accompany the previous one!

This is when the world becomes a rather silly place in the world of film. Twitter has been alive today with the news that the first proper trailer for Captain America: The First Avenger is going to be released tomorrow. Then I see Paramount Pictures tweet the this new Twitvid with 6 seconds of the trailer in it. I guess it’s our fault for posting this sort of stuff but they know what the people want!

It’s low res the first image nonetheless of Dominic Cooper as Howard Stark in the new movie, Captain America: The First Avenger. We’ve had something new from the movie every day this week which we’re hoping means a trailer is imminent. I think it was yesterday we had a trailer for the trailer which seems to be the way that Hollywood like to get our attention these day but teasing their property as much as they possibly can!

Ever wondered what life would be like as an American G.I. at the height of World War II and being given your orders by a sour-faced Tommy Lee Jones? Of course you have. More importantly, though, do you want to see new footage of Marvel’s First Avenger throwing his shield, presumably at some dastardly Nazis? Of course you do – and you’ve come to the right place for both!

Though it can sometimes be hard not to cringe at Entertainment Tonight’s promotional style (remember that voice-over which made The Lovely Bones sound like some sort of action packed zombie revenge epic?), there’s also no denying that they get their hands on some great stuff. This Captain America footage is no exception. A fast montage of clips, it provides several great “blink and you’ll miss it” moments, including the first shot of Cap throwing his trademark shield.

EW have released this rather nice new image of Red Skull from Captain America: The First Avenger. Hugo Weaving plays the character who’s name is Johann Schmidt when he doesn’t have the even better name, Red Skull!

Composer Alan Silvestri (who was behind last summer’s score for The A-Team) will be lending his talents to another big tent-pole release, Captain America: The First Avenger.

Collider is reporting Silvestri (who has over 100 feature film credits to his name) was chosen over big names like Michael Giacchino and John Powell to score Joe Johnston’s much-anticipated comic book adaptation.

Let’s hope the composer can create a score which is up there with some of his best-known and celebrated work, particularly those stemming films from his long and successful collaboration with director Robert Zemeckis (would Back to the Future have reached those same giddy heights without Silvestri’s involvement?) .

Some of these images we’ve seen before but they were scans from the latest issue of Empire Magazine. Now, the biggest movie magazine in the world has released the Marvel images officially + a couple of new ones.

These images tie in nicely with the first footage from CapAm that we got to see last night during the Super Bowl. We were up all night blogging every new movie related TV spot for you and you can see the fruits of our labour right here.

Big news this afternoon as Marvel have just released the very first poster for Captain America: The First Avenger!!!!

I’m rather liking it although interestingly they haven’t put the full title anywhere on the poster. All they add is the word, ‘Avenge’ with Captain America in the URL of the web address. It’ll be interesting to see what people who don’t spend their lives on movie blogs make of it. My guess is a lot of them won’t know who or what it is but I have a feeling the Captain America marketing machine is about to go into overdrive. Bring on the Superbowl!
