There’s only a week to go until we get our look at the latest 80s franchise update to tear through the nostalgia barrier and arrive with the Nimrod Antal directed/Robert Rodriguez produced Predators, and in amongst the sheer tonnage of marketing there are still new sights to see.

There’s two new clips around today which have Adrien Brody, Alice Braga and friends working out where (and why) they are. In the first clip, the team have an interesting encounter with someone who is not what he seems, check that out below…

Then there is another nicely chosen clip to set the film up – it gives away the basic premise of the film, so keep out of the way if you want to be untrampled by the spoiler bus, but it’s very clear what Adrien Brody and his team of militarised misfits are doing in the jungle.

The clip is an exclusive to JoBlo and it’s well worth your time before the 8th of July hits and the Predators eat our eyeballs for popcorn.

Any more images or trailers from Nimrod Antal’s Predators get released and we’ll have seen it all, so ubiquitous has this marketing push been.

Having said that nothing so far has disappointed and this particular weekend sees our US cousins get not one, but two big screen 80s reboots in the form of The A-Team and The Karate Kid, and the early birds are tweeting that they’re not too bad.

So hope abounds for Robert Rodriguez’s next producing gig where he’ll throw a thousand volts through the corpse of the Predator series and in this new TV spot there’s some new footage to intrigue and seduce you into speculation – what was that flying thing? Do Predators have an equivalent of hunting dogs? When is the film out anyway?

By now you’ll have seen so many Predators posters that one more won’t hurt, and with Nimrod Antal’s film out in a few weeks this new poster calls back to one of the defining images of the original.

The whole thermal imaging thing worked well in the previous Predator films, and it’s nice to see the marketing people use it here for this new image of Adrien Brody and Alice Braga.

It’s a pretty low res version, I’m guessing someone snapped this with their phone camera and so far it’s the best we’ve got so be thankful for small mercies.

So, if you still ain’t got time to bleed take a look, and prepare for the Predators to finally be unleashed at the start of July.

I’m sure that the constant drip feeding of images, posters and trailers from the Nimrod Antal directed Predators has created the right amount of buzz for Robert Rodriguez’s alien hunters, and now there’s two new posters to further whet your voracious appetite.

Nothing much new here but it’s still good to see Adrien Brody and Alice Braga tooled up and ready to face whatever Antal and Rodriguez have in store for them. Brody and Braga star along with Danny Trejo, Laurence Fishburne, Topher Grace and Walter Goggins to make up a nicely eclectic cast.

MovieWeb plastered these images over the internet, and we’re in their debt.

We’ve championed the outstanding Let The Right One In on the site, and news of the inevitable English language adaptation of the John Ajvide Lindqvist novel made us more than a little sad.

Yet we’re curious at the first images coming from the production, and the first official still to emerge is encouraging to those who loved the Swedish film of last year.

The L.A. Times have a very interesting interview with director Matt Reeves in which he deals with the poisoned chalice of post Cloverfield expectation, and he concludes with this,

In the same sense I want the photography to have this kind of messy realism, to be beautiful but gritty..I want the effects to feel believable. I want people to think back later and say, ‘I don’t even know if that’s an effect.’ I don’t want anything that pulls you out.

Beautiful and gritty? I can get behind that, and if you’re at all familiar with the Swedish version you’ll know the effectiveness of a deliberately slow pace, and Reeves goes on,

It’s not going to feel like a movie with a crazy number of effects. It’s, hopefully, going to feel like an intimate coming-of-age story.

Which is exactly what made Let The Right One In so compelling, and it really is the key to the film. Kodi Smit-McPhee and Chloe Moretz are pictured below in a scene which was a favourite from the first film.

Whatever happens, do seek out the original before this one hits the big screen.

Following the new image of Laurence Fishburne as Noland posted a moment ago, HeyUGuys has been given this exclusive image from the eagerly awaited Robert Rodriguez produced Predators.

Director Nimrod Antal has assembled a fine cast and in this image below we can see Adrien Brody, Alice Braga and Walter Goggins happening upon a skull strewn battlefield, looking nice and afraid.

The more I see of this film the more I like it, the trailer worked perfectly as a tease to the fans of the series and hearing Rodriguez and writer Alex Litvak talk about their aim to stay true to what made the original so compelling is refreshing.

Predators is out in the US in July and we here in the UK get it a few weeks after. Can’t wait.

I’m sure you’ve seen enough of the forthcoming Robert Rodriguez produced Predators to convince you that this is no mere rehash of an 80s monster movie.

Adrift in the torrent of publicity we’ve seen of the Nimrod Antal directed picture, due out in the States in July, are numerous stills, a great trailer and some nicely produced character featurettes (check them all out here).

The good guys at /Film showed off their new picture of Laurence Fishburne as the (other)world-weary warrior Noland, and if you’re in the mood to find out even more about Fishburne’s character you can check out the featurette here.

You can’t accuse Robert Rodriguez of not taking his producing duties seriously – the guy is a Predators marketing machine and in this new video he’s introducing us another of the Predators cast – Laurence Fishburne’s Noland.

When it was announced that Fishburne was joining the Predators cast there was a positive reaction from the expectant Predators fanbase and while we’ve seen numerous Predators featurettes (all of which you can find here – there’s plenty to catch up on) we’ve not seen so much of his character thus far.

As with all these featurettes Rodriguez is front and centre, talking about Noland’s place in the film and it is well worth a watch if you’re keeping up with this one.

There’s a lot of buzz surrounding Jason Eisner’s unambiguously titled Hobo With A Shotgun and when we bought you the first video clip last week it showed off Rutger Hauer as the title character, and now there’s a better look as the first official image has surfaced.

Looking suitably bedraggled and (of course) toting his shotgun, Hauer’s mission is to clean up the streets ‘for future generations’. Stemming from a Grindhouse trailer competition Eisner’s entry won and now the ultraviolent movie is a few weeks into production so you can expect to hear a lot more about this one in the near future.

Universal’s companion piece to 2008′s Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Get Him to the Greek, has a new poster which does the job of explaining the film’s premise in case anyone was unsure.

The film sees Russell Brand reprising his role as Aldous Snow from Forgetting Sarah Marshall and new boy Jonah Hill (who has his perplexed look in every shot I’ve seen so far) as a music industry lackey who has to Get Him to a comeback concert. The conceit is that he’s a bit of a womanising egomaniac, so expect hilarity to ensue.

The red band trailer didn’t look all bad, and with Brand making waves in Hollywood (with a role in the forthcoming remake of Arthur) this one could lead the way for the US to take him into their trousers and arms like most of the people in the UK seem to.

As if the new picture of a slightly terrified bunch of humans wasn’t enough Predators for you all 20th Century Fox (via ComingSoon) have released another of their character specific video profiles, and it’s a good one.

Danny Trejo has one of the most recognisably badass appearances going, and he’s sure to be a match for the tooth jawed Predators and this little video delves a little deeper into his character, Cuchillo.

Producer Robert Rodriguez is unsurprisingly a visible presence in the marketing campaign and I always get the impression that he loves his films and really wants to make them the best he can, and as a fan of the series I’m hoping this one will live up to the expectation he is setting.

The more I see of Robert Rodriguez’s reinventing of the Predators franchise the more I like it. With the numerous featurettes and images released I wonder how much director Nimrod Antal and co. are holding back, but if you’ve seen the trailer then you’ll have a pretty good idea if you’re looking forward to this one.

In this new image we see Adrien Brody as Royce, Walter Goggins as Stans and Alice Braga as Isabelle looking at something nasty in the distance, and while it’s not the most exciting of images it’s all about building up the anticipation for the film which opens in the US on the 9th of July and the UK a few weeks later on the 22nd.

I’d rather see Danny Trejo sticking a Predator or two on the end of a rusty pole but that’s just me, and I’m hoping the film will make good on its promises.

MTV had this one first, and good for them.

The door is opening ever wider on Christopher Nolan’s Inception and following the Wondercon Dream Machine T-shirt (which we didn’t get our hands on when we were there) but keen QR code people decrypted the imprinted logo on the back of the shirt and wonder of wonders, it pointed to a viral web site for the film.

The site it points to is www.pasivdevice.org/ which has a lovingly created online manual for the Dream Machine and which culminates in a rudimentary interactive activation of the machine which then leads onto a further site www.mind-crime.com where there’s a web game which reveals a few more clues to exactly what this film is all about.

It’s worth a play, don’t expect too much though, and if you’re after hard answers it’s probably only going to frustrate you all the more.

Future X-Cops is the new film directed by Wong Jing and starring Andy Lau. For those fans of Hong Kong cinema you will probably already be familiar with Andy Lau and Wong Jing but for those that are not I can recommend God of Gamblers (Wong Jing) and Infernal Affairs (starring Andy Lau and Tony Leung) as good places to start if you are interested.

Wong Jing is a prolific director and one whose films are often ridiculous and slightly demented but also very enjoyable (the God of Gambler films were some of my favourite films as a teenager) and this year sees the release of his new science fiction film, Future X-Cops. Reportedly costing $20 million the film looks pretty insane, with ludicrous special effects and very cheesy action sequences. This will certainly not be a cinematic masterpiece but I’m a sucker for this kind of light hearted cheesy genre cinema and hopefully you are to. I know this trailer is bad, I know the film looks terrible but I still can’t wait to see it, it just looks so fun.

A cop goes back in time to the present to protect a scientist who holds the key to mankind’s future.

In the future, scientist DR MASTERSON averts an energy crisis that threatens the existence of mankind by developing a solar substitute. In doing so he unleashes the wrath of a ruthless oil cartel who dispatch a team of half human, half machine hit men to assassinate him. Policeman ANDY (Andy Lau) is assigned to protect Dr. Masterson and repels the assassination attempt, but his wife MILLIE (BingBing Fan) and cyborg captain KALON’s (Louis Fan) younger brother are killed during the battle. Andy and Kalon both vow revenge.

Still determined to regain control of the world’s energy, the cartel send Kalon and his cyborgs back in time to the present to kill Dr. Masterson as a teenager. Now with the fate of the future in his hands, Andy must follow the assassins back in time to protect the future savior of planet earth. But the only way he stands a chance against the super powered cyborgs is to relinquish his humanity and become one of them.

Future X-Cops is released in China on March 30th.

The first image to emerge from the Mickey Rourke/Megan Fox film Passion Play is here, and it looks as if the two are dancing on the set of The Wizard of Oz in this one.

Megan Fox is a angel, trapped in a carnival sideshow while Rourke is a down and out trumpet player who saves Fox’s character from the oppressive hand of Happy Shannon, not the head clown in the circus, but a vicious gangster played by Bill Murray. Well, I was sold on Bill Murray but this looks to be a nicely low key tale of redemption and salvation (with Bill Murray).

This is Mitch Glazer’s first film behind the camera and there’s something about the duo of Rourke and Fox that clicks for me, so I’ll be keeping an eye on this one.

We’ve seen James Purefoy stalking the land with an enormous sword already, but today the official poster for Ironclad, Jonathan English’s tale of a band of knights who defend Rochester Castle against the growing tyranny of King John, is here.

This has a great cast and I can’t wait to see Paul Giamatti slice and dice as King John (unless he simply stands at the back stroking his beard and calling for the archers to fire), but this should be Purefoy’s film. Currently shooting John Carter of Mars, Purefoy is also to be seen shortly in Solomon Kane and Ironclad will round off an amazing year for the actor.

The poster was an Empire exclusive, and it arrived complete with portentous full stops after each word of the tagline. Blood. Will. Run. isn’t as inspiring as it could be, but the image is a great one and points the way for a bloody, dirty mess when the film finally reaches the screens later this year.

It’s been a crazy day for The Dude, and Jeff Bridges getting the nod for the Best Actor Oscar was, while expected following other recent success, good to see after so many years of awards passing him by.

And there’s a nice new image of Bridges from Tron Legacy direct from Disney Pictures, and he looks rough. There’s virtually nothing to be gleaned from this shot but if you’re a fan of the original then I’m sure you’ll be keeping an eye on this one.

With a new image of a behelmeted Robert Downey Jr. sending a mild tremor through the rampant Iron Man fanbase a few days ago, more footage has become available thanks to a music video from AC/DC named Shoot to Thrill.

It’s not exactly a new trailer but there’s enough to warrant a post and the whole video really captures the bombastic feel of the first film, hopefully to be redoubled in the sequel. I remember the Guns ‘n’ Roses video You Could be Mine for Terminator 2, and silently cursing Arnie’s cameo at the end (as he failed to terminate the band), and I think of the hauntingly beautiful trailers for Spike Jonze’s Where the Wild Things Are as perfect examples of how a music video can draw an expectant crowd.

While it’s all promotion it all helps to stoke the fire of expectation. An excerpt from the press release follows,

The debut video from AC/DC: Iron Man 2 is the AC/DC’s classic album cut “Shoot To Thrill,” which was filmed live last month in Buenos Aires during the band’s highly acclaimed Black Ice World Tour, the second highest grossing world tour of 2009 according to concert industry trade publication Pollstar. When Iron Man hit the big screen there was no telling how big it would be. Jon Favreau has taken a fairly established and interesting, though not instantly recognisable, comic book character and made a thoroughly entertaining movie and created a real momentum for the inevitable sequel.

The trailer released recently pressed all the right buttons, and given the success of superhero sequels recently Iron Man 2 should be an improvement and make for a great film.

So, with anticipation growing it’s good to see Favreau and company giving us all a little bit of what we want with this new image from the production. ComingSoon.net have the scoop and you can see it below.

As part of their look at the movies that hit in 2010 the L.A. Times have the first official photo from Christopher Nolan’s Inception and it’s suitably non committal.

Inception is a film Nolan is keeping very close to his chest, but this new image is very revealing. We know now that, at some stage, Leo’s character holds a gun…

Leonardo DiCaprio stars with Michael Caine, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Cillian Murphy and Ellen Page in Nolan’s follow up to The Dark Knight, and big things are expected from this one.
