Halle Berry has been absent from cinema-screen’s since 2007′s Things We Lost in the Fire to concentrate on raising her newly born child. It seems she’s about to make an overdue comeback. Deadline are reporting that she’s been cast in the ensemble comedy, Shoe Addicts Anonymous. The film, an adaptation of Beth Harbison’s bestselling novel, will see Berry play “an agorophobe who feeds her addiction with online shoe purchases”.

Synopsis: The comedy looks at the lives of four Chicago women from different ethnic backgrounds, bonded by two things. They are shoe addicts who wear the same size. They form a support group, swap 7.5s and become—wait for it—sole sisters. Eventually their bond goes beyond footwear.

Paul Weiland (Made of Honour) will direct from a screenplay by Kristen Buckley and Brian Regan (How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days). Filming is expected to start in the Autumn. Shoe Addicts Anonymous will be a co-production between Parallel Media and Galgos Entertainment.

This film could go either way. It does have promise but, considering most ensemble comedies, including last year’s Valentine’s Day, end up disappointing, that’s not saying much. It is, however, about time time Berry made a full-blown comeback.

The number one may surprise you unless of course you’ve already looked at the title of this post!

Australian, Naomi Watts has been named by Forbes as the number 1 actress bringing the best return. For every $1 she was paid, Watts managed to bring in $44. Other actresses to perform well were Jennifer Connelly ($41 / $1) , Rachel McAdams ($30 / $1) , Natalie Portman ($28 / $1) and Meryl Streep who brought in $27 for every $1 she was paid.

The next five to complete the top ten list are Jennifer Aniston ($26 /$1), Halle Berry ($23/ $1), Cate Blanchett ($23 / $1) Anne Hathaway ($23 /$1) and finally Hilary Swank who brought also brought in $23 for every $1.

Notice that Angelina Jolie doesn’t feature in the list at all. So I guess just because you have a major name in a movie, doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re going to make as much as the box office. Why pay Jolie $10m+ when you can pay Watts or any of the other actresses above half as much and get a better bang for ya buck? After seeing this list, I don’t expect to see Watts out of work much in the near future!

Head over to Forbes for more details on each actress and how they’ve made the studios their money…..
