With awards season in full flow, it’s time to announce the nominations for the Razzie Awards 2011! For those of you unfamiliar with the Razzie Awards, they were created to celebrate the worst of the worst films of the year paying tribute to just how terrible they really are and I’m pleased to tell you that this year, they will be broadcast on TV (more info on the official site)!

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse seems to have done very ‘well’ this year picking up a massive 9 nominations including Worst Film, 2 in the worst actor category for Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner as well as Worst Actress for Kristen Stewart! They must all be so proud! And how could I forget the entire cast nominations for Twilight: Eclipse, The Last Airbender and Sex and the City 2 – again a great achievement!

The Last Airbender has picked up a total of nominations this year! Congrats!

So, check out the full list of nominations below and let us know if there’s anything they missed! We can’t see Skyline on there but maybe that didn’t quite make this year’s nominations! Let’s see if any a-listers have the guts to turn up to the awards this year!

Today is the day folks.

The third film in the Twilight saga, Eclipse, is out in the UK and if you’ve got your tickets to a screening tonight and need your Twilight fix now then we’ve got some great footage from the recent press conference held in London from our good friends at Upbeat.

British director David Slade talks about his take on the latest installment of Stephanie Meyer’s immensely successful saga and Ashley Greene (Alice Cullen), Nikki Reed (Rosalie Cullen), Kellan Lutz (Emmett Cullen),  Xavier Samuel (Riley – newborn),  Alex Meraz (Paul – wolfpack) were all in attendance and you can see the footage below.

It seems that Twilight: Eclipse isn’t only smashing records in the US but also on our own fair isle too! Last week, we reported that the new movie to star Robert Pattinson, Tatlor Lautner and Kristen Stewart had broken the record for the US  midnight opening. Today, Vue cinemas have reported that the same occurred at their midnight showings here in the UK taking the title away from New Moon, which preceeds Eclipse.

This morning, they tweeted the good news and have told me that over the weekend during their exclusive Twilight triple bill showing Twilight, New Moon and Eclipse back to back, they had indeed broken the record with over 40 000 Twilight Saga fans watching the movie at the same time.

Fans of the Twilight films, or “Twi-hards” as fans like to be known, helped Vue smash all records with the highest attendance EVER for a midnight screening, with over 40,000 fans seeing The Twilight Saga: Eclipse for the first time, delivering a massive +27% increase on attendance to similar midnight previews for the previous instalment, The Twilight Saga: New Moon last year

Whether you’re a fan of the vampire / werewolf franchise or not, this is great news for UK cinema. Even in the midst of a worldwide recession, Hollywood is still pulling audiences across the world into local cinemas across the world and no less in the UK.

Mark de Quervain, Sales and Marketing Director for Vue cinemas summed it up nicely by saying:

“It’s great news for UK cinema and shows that cinema-going right across the UK is still as popular as ever. Our customers know that the cinema is still terrific value for money for two or three hours of entertainment and escape – or in the case of the special Twilight screenings, about 6 and half hours of thrill and suspense!”

Vue have given me access to this video which shows some of the Twihards at Vue Westfield, the new flagship cinema in the new shopping center which shows just some of the fans of the Twilight movies watching the movie and what they thought. It really is a phenomenon! So I guess when Breaking Dawn comes out, we’ll have a record? Or will Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I smash it to pieces? Guess we’ll have to wait and find out!

Twilight: Eclipse may not be the most critically acclaimed movie in the world but there’s no denying the fans are mad for it. No doubt some of them have already seen the movie 5 time just to see Taylor Lautner take his top off, or Robert Pattinson kiss Kristen Stewart (AGAIN!)! The movie directed by British Director, David Slade took $68.5m at the US box office this weekend but failed to beat the 4th July record set by Spider-Man 2 which clocked in a huge $88m when it was released in 2004. Since it’s release last Wednesday, Eclipse has managed a $161m haul with the UK to still open it’s Twilight doors on Friday 9th July.

M. Night Shyamalan’s new 3d movie, The Last Airbender also did very well this weekend bringing in $41.6m with Disney’s Toy Story 3 earning a further $30.1m to it’s already increasing takings count.

Last night, London saw the UK premiere for one of the most anticipated movies of the teen (if you’re a teenager anyway!) in the form of Twilight: Eclipse. The movie stars Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart in the third movie based on the books by Stephanie Meyer,

British director David Slade helmed this third installment and he was there last night along with his supporting cast which included Ashley Greene (Alice Cullen), Nikki Reed (Rosalie Cullen), Kellan Lutz (Emmett Cullen),  Xavier Samuel (Riley – newborn),  Alex Meraz (Paul – wolfpack), Booboo Stewart (Seth – wolfpack) and director David Slade.

Our friends at Upbeat were at the premiere and managed to get interview with all the cast in attendance. You can see all that happened in the footage embedded below.

The time has finally come when the third installment of one of the most popular teen franchises in the history of cinema comes to the big screen. Twilight: Eclipse is officially released on the 9th July but this weekend sees some advanced preview screenings of the third movie in the saga that has made Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner and our own Robert Pattinson household names.

With news that Eclipse has already broken the box office record for a midnight opening in the US, you’d hope we’re in for some good things. Read on to find out what I thought.

I’ve not read any of Stephanie Meyer’s books before seeing any of The Twilight Saga which I guess is good and bad. Good because I go into the cinema not knowing what is before me and bad because I have nothing with which to base the movies on. The books became a worldwide phenomenon well before the movies did and for good reason. Teenagers (mostly, but not exclusively) were able to lose themselves in the imagination of a book where Vampires had treaties with Werewolves, a Royal Family and struggled to pass through life as us humans. Merge this into a love story where a human falls in love with both a vampire and a werewolf and we have the Twilight Saga. But does this translate to the big screen to make a good movie?

Synopsis: In THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE, Bella once again finds herself surrounded by danger as Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge. In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between Edward and Jacob — knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the struggle between vampire and werewolf. With her graduation quickly approaching, Bella is confronted with the most important decision of her life.

In this, the penultimate book, we get to see Bella having to make a choice between the two loves of her life and most of the script in Eclipse is spent in dialogue with either Bella and Edward, or Bella and Jacob. There’s no question that this movie is much darker than the previous movies, Twilight and New Moon, and that is thanks mainly to the British director, David Slade who was brought on to the project specifically to give it that darker edge. Slade is responsible for movies such as 30 Days of Night which is another vampire movie yes, but one of the darkest movies I’ve seen.

The cast for Eclipse is extensive and far reaching with stars being made of Anna Kendrick for example while shooting other movies in between the  Twilight series. She is sadly underused and I was surprised to see Michael Sheen (one of my favourite characters from New Moon) not making an appearance in Eclipse, but then he never appeared in the book (although I’m told he’s back with a vengeance in the final movie(s)). Kendrick is just one example of underused characters but I had to keep reminding myself that the books are based around the three main characters and I think that’s where the movies fall down.

I don’t know if reading page after page of dialogue in a book translates better than it does on the film as you find yourself getting bored. There were certain scenes in the movie where vampires were attacking humans in extremely dark scenes and I loved those, it why Slade was brought into Eclipse and it’s what he does so well, but the script is just so long winded and repetitive. That said, there were a couple of lines in the movie which had the audience roaring with laughter (I wont spoil them here) intentionally and that worked really well. Obviously there are the essential scenes of Taylor Lautner with his top off which again, had the audience laughing, especially when Pattinson asks the question:

“Doesn’t he have a shirt?!”

The sub story to the movie is the fact that Bella is being hunted by Victoria after Edward killed her mate in the original twilight movie. In Eclipse, she amasses an army that will have the Cullen family destroyed and Bella taken away from Edward which gives us an epic battle as the climax to the movie. I just wish that more had been made of this storyline than the love story. But that’s why the Twihard’s love it so much isn’t it?

Although critically, Twilight: Eclipse isn’t the best film ever made, you have to take your hat off to Summit Entertainment and E1 for making such an popularfranchise. The fan base is huge and I must remember, I am most definitely not the target audience.

OK Twilight fans, don’t say we never give you anything. Last night, the cast of Twilight: Eclipse were on Jimmy Kimmel live and got asked some rather random questions as well as attempting to get Justin Bieber in the 4th movie!

Good news for all your fans desperate to see the new trailer for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I. Warner Bros. have announced that the first trailer for the movie is to be attached to Twilight: Eclipse which is released in the US this Friday (win tickets to the UK Premiere here) and that it will be released online on Monday. You can see the initial teaser they released here.

We’ll obviously bring it to you as soon as we can but we thought we’d give you a heads up on the good news!

Harry Potter finished filming just over a week ago, exactly a week before the Wizarding World of Harry Potter opened. The first installment of the final movie which is split into two parts is released in the UK 19th November 2010 and the second part 15th July next year.

So, Twilight fans are very keen to see their heroes and villains disrobe and suck face and blood in the new film from The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, which premieres in Los Angeles tomorrow.

This is not news – we all know that self proclaimed Twihards will talk up Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Launter, and the Stephanie Meyer books a storm given half the chance, but the reports coming out of the Huffington Post (among others) of Twilight fans taking over the Nokia Plaza with a ‘tent city’ are testament to the film’s enormous magnetism and how fandom manifests itself.

Twilight Eclipse Premiere Queue - Fans Camp Out

I remember hearing of Star Wars fans camping out in anticipation for the release of The Phantom Menace, and I’m sure that down the years other film franchises have inspired similar events – that the Twilight: Eclipse premiere is the latest will come as no surprise. These events are great publicity and unless there’s a huge Team Edward/Team Jacob bunfight in the offing I’m sure it’ll be great fun for all those involved.

There’s a tendency to mock, but I’d rather see fans of any film get truly excited about the cinematic experience – regardless of its quality – and I hope they all have a fangtastic time.

One thing’s for sure – they’ll be enough fanfic written in those tents to fill the British Library, and if they get hungry they can always bid on this bizarre item on eBay…

(someone will have to tell me who he is though!).

Twilight: Eclipse is released in the UK 9th July with the premiere on the 1st July. We’re hoping to attend the UK press conference where we’ll be able to bring you footage from the event too so stay tuned for much more on Twilight: Eclipse.

From what we’ve seen so far, the new movie which stars Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart actually looks OK! Let’s face it, it can’t be any worse than Twilight: New Moon!!

This new TV spot has been released on the official Twilight YouTube channel and is called ‘Epic’.

A brand new clip / featurette has been released by Moviefone for Twilight: Eclipse which is release in the US in just 2 weeks on 30th June. We get it on the 9th July on the weekend of the World Cup final but I guess Summit Entertainment and thinking that they’re main audience won’t be too bothered by blokes kicking a ball around a park!

The clips just keep on coming for the third installment in the Twilight franchise, Twilight: Eclipse. The movie sees Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner all back to fight for their right to be a vampire, human or werewolf!
