After getting a brilliant new TV spot for the film during the Super Bowl at the weekend, followed by a great set of new images yesterday, we’ve now got another epic new TV spot to share with you, along with a new international poster.

This new minute-long TV spot, courtesy of ComingSoon.net, adds to all of the awesome things we’ve seen from Disney’s upcoming blockbuster already, showing a terrific array of special effects, with all kinds of great alien creatures, explosions, and more.

“Synopsis: From Academy Award(R)-winning filmmaker Andrew Stanton comes “John Carter”–a sweeping action-adventure set on the mysterious and exotic planet of Barsoom (Mars). “John Carter” is based on a classic novel by Edgar Rice Burroughs , whose highly imaginative adventures served as inspiration for many filmmakers, both past and present. The film tells the story of war-weary, former military captain John Carter (Taylor Kitsch), who is inexplicably transported to Mars where he becomes reluctantly embroiled in a conflict of epic proportions amongst the inhabitants of the planet, including Tars Tarkas (Willem Dafoe) and the captivating Princess Dejah Thoris (Lynn Collins). In a world on the brink of collapse, Carter rediscovers his humanity when he realizes that the survival of Barsoom and its people rests in his hands.”

Led by Taylor Kitsch in the titular lead role, the film also stars Lynn Collins as the warrior Princess lead female, Mark Strong, Bryan Cranston, Dominic West, Samantha Morton, Willem Dafoe, Ciarán Hinds, and James Purefoy. Andrew Stanton, best known for his Oscar-winning direction of Finding Nemo and WALL-E, will be making his debut with live-action, and it looks like an immense debut at that.

John Carter will be with us in 3D on 9th March, so literally just over one month before we get to see this epic film unfold before us on the big screen. I can’t wait. Until then, here’s the brand new TV spot and Israeli poster, via IMP Awards, to feast your eyes on. And the music in the new spot is suitably more than a little bit epic, so plenty for your ears to enjoy too.

Disney’s upcoming animated comedy, Wreck-It Ralph, inspired by the old 8-bit video arcade games, got a great update last summer from the film’s director, Rich Moore, as well as an official synopsis that sounds rather excellent.

We’ve now got the first look at the film to share with you, courtesy of CineHeroes via Rope of Silicon, and they give us a terrific indication of some of the things we can expect from the film.

John C. Reilly is leading the cast as the eponymous Wreck-It Ralph, with Jane Lynch, Jack McBrayer (best known for playing Kenneth in 30 Rock), and Sarah Silverman also lending their voices for what is looking like another instant Disney classic.

“Wreck-It Ralph (voice of Reilly) longs to be as beloved as his game’s perfect Good Guy, Fix-It Felix (voice of McBrayer). Problem is, nobody loves a Bad Guy. But they do love heroes… so when a modern, first-person shooter game arrives featuring tough-as-nails Sergeant Calhoun (voice of Lynch), Ralph sees it as his ticket to heroism and happiness. He sneaks into the game with a simple plan—win a medal—but soon wrecks everything, and accidently unleashes a deadly enemy that threatens every game in the arcade. Ralph’s only hope? Vanellope von Schweetz (voice of Silverman), a young troublemaking “glitch” from a candy-coated cart racing game who might just be the one to teach Ralph what it means to be a Good Guy. But will he realize he is good enough to become a hero before it’s “Game Over” for the entire arcade? “

Back last summer, Moore spoke a little bit about the film and his interest in the project, saying,

“I love the idea of a very simple 8-bit video game character struggling with the complex question: ‘isn’t there more to life than the role I’ve been assigned?’ In his quest for the answer, we journey with our hero through three visually distinct video game worlds. It’s unlike anything anyone’s seen before, and I’m thrilled to be to creating it here at Walt Disney Animation Studios.”

And these great first three images seem to show us at least two those visually distinct video game worlds that he mentions. (The third image I’m not entirely sure about. I can’t decide if it’s a world of its own, or if it’s the kind of map of all the levels available, but I’d guess that the three images correspond to the three worlds we can look forward to delving into.)

Wreck-It Ralph is due to be released in the US on 12th November, and here in the UK on 26th December, which puts it up against Tarantino’s Django Unchained, and quite possibly Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby, both of which arrive in the US on Christmas Day. Naturally, each of the three films have a largely different audience (though of course many, like myself, will be in the centre of a three-circle Venn diagram), and should make for a fantastic end to 2012 in UK cinemas.

For now, here are your great first look images for your viewing pleasure. As usual, you can click to enlarge and enjoy them in even more detail. I love that first image of Wreck-It Ralph upon the hill, contemplating his lot opposite the building scalable by Donkey Kong-esque ladders.

We can now add to that, along with all the other excellent things we’ve seen so far, a new batch of seven images from the film, taking a closer look at Lynn Collins playing the warrior Princess, Taylor Kitsch as the eponymous John Carter, some awesome alien creatures, and a stunning look at the futuristic cities and life on Mars.

Along with Kitsch in the lead and Collins as the lead female, the film also stars Mark Strong, Bryan Cranston, Dominic West, Samantha Morton, Willem Dafoe, Ciarán Hinds, and James Purefoy.

Director Andrew Stanton’s credits already has two Oscars to his name, with his credits including Finding Nemo and WALL-E, so there’s every reason to expect great things from John Carter as he ventures into his live-action debut.

Previously titled John Carter of Mars, John Carter will be with us in 3D here in the UK on 9th March, which means we’re only just over a month away from getting to see it on the big screen, and no doubt having our jaws dropped from what look to be very impressive effects. And here are the great new images to prove it. As usual, you can click to enlarge.

Here’s Disney Next Big Thing – John Carter, of Mars don’t you know? This is a pretty nifty spot for the film which sees the mighty Andrew Stanton doing the whole ‘live action’ thing. And he’s great so it’s bound to be pretty good right?

The cast is certainly large and has Taylor Kitsch leading Lynn Collins, Samantha Morton , Mark Strong, Ciaran Hinds, Dominic West, James Purefoy, Daryl Sabara, Polly Walker, Bryan Cranston, Thomas Hayden Church, Willem Dafoe. Blimey.

Here’s a synopsis,

From Academy Award(R)-winning filmmaker Andrew Stanton comes “John Carter”–a sweeping action-adventure set on the mysterious and exotic planet of Barsoom (Mars). At the event is this exhibit for Pixar’s new movie, Brave and as we’ve seen with pretty much everything released so far, it’s looking pretty great! The source of the images is BanksLee‘s twitter account via Stitch Kingdom who found them.

I simply love the moulds they have of the characters in the movie and as I said in a post recently on the John Carter concept art, the attention to details never ceases to amaze me!

Brave follows the story of Princess Merida voiced by Kelly Macdonald and has a cast which also includes Emma Thompson, Billy Connolly, Julie Walters, Kevin McKidd, Craig Ferguson and Robbie Coltrane. This is one that we’re very excited about, especially as they’re bringing out so many great images for the movie.

Brave is set in the mystical Scottish Highlands, where Merida is the princess of a kingdom ruled by King Fergus (Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (Emma Thompson). An unruly daughter and an accomplished archer, Merida one day defies a sacred custom of the land and inadvertently brings turmoil to the kingdom. In an attempt to set things right, Merida seeks out an eccentric old Wise Woman (Julie Walters) and is granted an ill-fated wish. Also figuring into Merida’s quest — and serving as comic relief — are the kingdom’s three lords: the enormous Lord MacGuffin (Kevin McKidd), the surly Lord Macintosh (Craig Ferguson), and the disagreeable Lord Dingwall (Robbie Coltrane).

Brave is set for release 13th August here in the UK. Click here for the rest of our coverage.

After The Lion King 3D did tremendously well at the box office towards the end of last year, Disney and Pixar announced that they would be bringing back four from their collection – two each – to the big screen in 3D.

Kicking things off will be Beauty and the Beast, which the States are set to get this coming weekend – alas, I think we have to wait until May in the UK – and then following towards the end of the year will be Finding Nemo, and DisneyPixar’s YouTube have just put up the first trailer for the re-released film. After Finding Nemo is re-released, we can then look forward to seeing Monsters, Inc. and The Little Mermaid in all new dimensions next year.

“Nemo, an adventurous young clownfish, is unexpectedly taken to a dentist’s office aquarium. It’s up to Marlin (Albert Brooks), his worrisome father, and Dory (Ellen DeGeneres), a friendly but forgetful Regal Blue Tang, to make the epic journey to bring Nemo home. Their adventure brings them face-to-face with vegetarian sharks, surfer dude turtles, hypnotic jellyfish, hungry seagulls, and more. Marlin discovers a bravery he never knew, but will he be able to find his son?”

Along with Albert Brooks and Ellen DeGeneres, the film also found a supporting cast lending their voices to the animated family favourite that included Alexander Gould as the eponymous Nemo, Willem Dafoe, Brad Garrett, Allison Janney, Stephen Root and his NewsRadio co-star Vicki Lewis (if you haven’t seen the show, I highly recommend it), Geoffrey Rush, Eric Bana, and many more.

Directed by Andrew Stanton, Finding Nemo’s first run back in 2003 saw it take just under $900m., making it, unadjusted for inflation, the 26th-highest-grossing film of all time, going on to win an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. Pretty impressive stuff.

I missed it when it was first released in the cinema, and am still yet to see it in the years since then – which I am frequently told is a crime whenever the film is mentioned – so I’m already quite looking forward to seeing this when it gets its re-release. The US are set to get it on 14th September this year, and hopefully we won’t have long to wait after that to see it here too. Here’s the new trailer to begin the excitement.

Now I said in the title that it is very ‘Disney’ and that is no surprise since after-all, it is a Disney movie! But that said, the posters they’ve used up to now have been more like Clash of the Titans or even Tron Legacy with the look logos and close up shots of the characters from the movie, this one is more about the journey!

John Carter is based on the books by Edgar Rice Burrows. Andrew Stanton who previously directed Finding Nemo and WALL·E and this time ventures into live action.

The movie stars Taylor Kitsch , Lynn Collins, Samantha Morton , Mark Strong, Ciaran Hinds, Dominic West, James Purefoy, Daryl Sabara, Polly Walker, Bryan Cranston, Thomas Hayden Church, Willem Dafoe.

Synopsis: From Academy Award(R)-winning filmmaker Andrew Stanton comes “John Carter”–a sweeping action-adventure set on the mysterious and exotic planet of Barsoom (Mars). In a world on the brink of collapse, Carter rediscovers his humanity when he realizes that the survival of Barsoom and its people rests in his hands.

In the past month, we’ve seen some terrific things from Disney’s upcoming John Carter. At the very end of last month, we saw the film’s first full-length trailer, and it gave us such an impressive new look at the film.

Since then, we’ve seen a great set of posters, two brilliant TV spots, a new image of Lynn Collins as the Princess, and most recently a fantastic new Japanese trailer for the film. We’ve now got an excellent set of concept artwork made up of a dozen images, courtesy of FilmoFilia.

The film is led by Taylor Kitsch in the lead as John Carter himself, with a great supporting cast headed up by Lynn Collins, Mark Strong, Bryan Cranston, Dominic West, Samantha Morton, Willem Dafoe, Ciarán Hinds, and James Purefoy,

In a world on the brink of collapse, Carter rediscovers his humanity when he realizes that the survival of Barsoom and its people rests in his hands.”

Director Stanton already has two Oscars under his belt, with his directing credits including Finding Nemo and WALL-E, and he’ll be making his live-action debut with John Carter. Everything we’ve seen so far suggests he’s done a terrific job, making a seamless transition, naturally bringing his knowledge of CGI into play for what look to be incredible special effects. John Carter will be released in 3D here on 9th March next year, which is definitely a date to mark down in your calendars. Until then, here are the great concept art images to enjoy.
As the notoriously slow animation process pushes new projects to the farthest reaches of 2013, the studio’s next conceivable release will now likely be Frozen, a long-gestating adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen’s The Snow Queen. Due for a 3D release on November 27, 2013, the film appears to have usurped the release date previously held by Pixar’s Untitled Dinosaur Project.

The Snow Queen, a seven part fairy tale often considered amongst Andersen’s best work (but no doubt subject to change by Disney), follows the exploits of Kai and Gerda, who are forced apart when a shard of glass from the devil’s magic mirror gets caught in his eye. Unable to see the beauty and happiness around him, Kai’s personality changes, leaving him angry and spiteful, and causing him to run away from his home and family which he now views as hateful and ugly. Finding solace in The Snow Queen, an entity able to somehow bypass the mirror’s curse, Kai soon finds himself trapped, and reliant on the ingenuity and dedication of Gerda to escape The Snow Queen’s grasp. Or something.

Frozen, touted as a potential Disney release since 2002, has had a very troubled production. Recent reports, however, indicate that the project is to receive a new lease of life, as it re-enters production.

Over the course of the year, we’ve been seeing some terrific things from Tim Burton’s Frankenweenie and Pixar’s Brave, both of which will be getting their big-screen release in the year to come.

For Brave, we got our first look at the trailer back in the summer, and have seen plenty of other wonderful things from the film before and after that. And from Frankenweenie, we’ve most recently been treated to a handful of images, both official and from the set, in the past few months.

We’ve now got a new image from each of the films, courtesy of Stitch Kingdom via The Playlist, and they both look excellent.

Tim Burton’s Frankenweenie is a remake of his own 1984 short film of the same name, and the images we’ve seen so far have been very impressive. This new image shows us the lead character of Victor Frankenstein lying up in bed, looking down at his dog Sparky who’s set up shop beneath it.

“A heartwarming tale about a boy and his dog, young Victor harnesses the power of science to bring his best friend back to life — with just a few minor adjustments. He tries to hide his home-sewn creation, but when Sparky gets out, Victor’s fellow students, teachers and the entire town all learn that getting a new ‘leash on life’ can be monstrous.”

With Pixar’s Brave, we similarly get an image of the lead character with Merida drawing back her bow, her sights clearly and determinedly set on something.

“Brave is set in the mystical Scottish Highlands, where Merida is the princess of a kingdom ruled by King Fergus (Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (Emma Thompson). Also figuring intoMerida’s quest — and serving as comic relief — are the kingdom’s three lords: the enormous Lord MacGuffin (Kevin McKidd), the surly Lord Macintosh (Craig Ferguson), and the disagreeable Lord Dingwall (Robbie Coltrane).”

The attention to detail in both of the images is of course impressive, and you’d expect nothing less from the likes of Tim Burton and Pixar. Both films are being distributed by Disney (which is no doubt why we’re getting them together), and both will be released in 3D. Brave will be the first one out the gate next year on 17th August here in the UK, followed a few months later by Frankenweenie on 5th October. Without further ado, here are the terrific new images. As usual, click to enlarge.

‘Disney’ and ‘Seth Rogen’ are three words you probably wouldn’t expect ever to hear in the same sentence, but the movie industry is full of surprises, and if Robert Rodriguez can include Spy Kids and Sin City in his credits, then there’s nothing to stop Seth Rogen from coming on board to produce a Disney film.

Variety are reporting that Rogen, fresh from his turn in the indie comedy 50/50, which has been doing brilliantly in the past few months, is now set to board Disney’s spy comedy The B Team as a producer, with an eye to star in it too.

The project focuses on,

“a top secret agent being kidnapped, leaving his tech support team and researchers to rescue him.”

Disney picked up the project back in 2008, buying a pitch from the writing team of Derek Guiley and David Schneiderman (Chasing Liberty), with Charles Segars set to produce and the writers’ manager, Ilan Breil, to executive produce.

I’m a huge fan of all of Rogen’s work, so any news about potential future roles for him is a win in my books. The thing I’m most interested to see about how this turns out is the audience it will be targeted at. Naturally, the majority of Disney’s films are mostly aimed at a younger audience, and a spy comedy could well go that way, as Rodriguez’s films have shown. But there are plenty of Disney films aimed at an older audience, so The B Team at least has potential/precedence to go down that path too.

The premise isn’t quite enough to go on for sure, but I’d guess that it’ll be aimed at a young adult audience, with the same Rogen that we all know and love – and if you don’t, then you really should – but without an F-bomb in sight. It is Disney, after all.

I’m really hoping that Rogen will star in the film, as well as produce it, because it’s always a welcome opportunity to see him on the big screen. If he does, keep your fingers crossed that he’ll take a hand at working on the script too to customise it to his own tastes, because as his writing credits on Superbad, Pineapple Express, and many more prove, the man is a bit of a comedy genius. More news as we get it.

In short, it looks like it’s going to be everything we wished this year’s Green Lantern could have been.

We’ve now got two great new thirty-second TV spots to share with you, courtesy of Yahoo Movies, and the film really does continue to look awesome. Writer-director Andrew Stanton (Finding Nemo, Wall-E) will be making his live-action feature debut with John Carter, with a plot line that looks a little like this:

The film stars Taylor Kitsch as the eponymous John Carter, with a great supporting cast that includes Mark Strong, Lynn Collins, Bryan Cranston, Dominic West, Willem Dafoe, Ciarán Hinds, and James Purefoy.

It’ll be our first time seeing Kitsch leading a film as big as this, and after seeing his talents as Gambit in X-Men Origins: Wolverine a couple of years back, I’m really looking forward to watching him lead a film of his own. John Carter will be released here in 3D on 9th March next year. Mark your calendars, and catch up on all our coverage of the film so far here.

I still can’t get used to Kermit standing, nor Gonzo’s ‘heroic’ pose but any poster with Fozzie in it is worth taking a gander at. The film is out in the UK next year (yes, still annoyed about that) but our US cousins had their fix last week. Turns out it’s a great film… marvellous!

The Muppets is directed by James Bobin and stars Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Gonzo, Animal, Jason Segel, Amy Adams, Chris Cooper, Walter and Rashida Jones.

On vacation in Los Angeles, Walter, the world’s biggest Muppet fan, and his friends Gary (Jason Segel) and Mary (Amy Adams) from Smalltown, USA, discover the nefarious plan of oilman Tex Richman (Chris Cooper) to raze the Muppet Theater and drill for the oil recently discovered beneath the Muppets’ former stomping grounds. To stage The Greatest Muppet Telethon Ever and raise the $10 million needed to save the theater, Walter, Mary and Gary help Kermit reunite the Muppets, who have all gone their separate ways: Fozzie now performs with a Reno casino tribute band called the Moopets, Miss Piggy is a plus-size fashion editor at Vogue Paris, Animal is in a Santa Barbara clinic for anger management, and Gonzo is a high-powered plumbing magnate.

It’s not often we get to see a feature-length nature documentary on the big screen, but Disneynature’s Chimpanzee certainly looks as though it has the potential to be pretty successful next year.

We got the teaser trailer for the film back in April, and now Yahoo Movies have put up the film’s first full-length trailer, and it’s pretty dramatic and intense stuff! There’s something about nature documentaries, they seem to have a way of being able to have such a wide reach, and the true story of a three-year-old orphaned chimpanzee who is then raised by an adult chimp should make for a dramatic documentary.

The film is co-directed by Emmy-winning directors Alastair Fothergill and Mark Linfield, who’ve worked with Disneynature before on 2007’s Earth, which took more than $100m. at the box office four years ago. Let’s hope they can reproduce some of that success with Chimpanzee.

Without further ado, here’s the brilliant first trailer for the documentary. We get the amazing band Switchfoot’s song, This Is Home, taken from The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian soundtrack, playing through the trailer, which is a perfect match for the drama/inspiration we see in the visuals. Enjoy.

We heard a few months back in the summer that Reese Witherspoon had come aboard Disney’s Wish List, leading the film as a career-driven woman whose childhood dreams are granted twenty-five years late.

THR now report that Disney are moving ahead nicely with the project, hiring the Emmy-winning writing team of Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger to pen the script.

The film will see,

“an overly imaginative little girl who makes ten wishes at a wishing well. They don’t come true because her coin never reached the bottom and eventually she loses her inner child and becomes a full grown and ambitious career woman. Some 25 years later, the coin is dislodged, falls to the bottom and she has to deal with the ramifications of 10 kid wishes coming true all at once.”

Aibel and Berger’s credits are pretty impressive, including both Kung Fu Panda films, as well as DreamWorks’ Monsters vs. Aliens, for which Witherspoon lent her voice, all of which have done really well at the box office. Wish List will be their first fully live-action feature film, and I’m looking forward to seeing it take shape. As much as I’m probably not the film’s target demographic, I think it should be a good film for all ages, even if it’s billed as a family comedy/fantasy.

Wish List was originally set up at Disney ten years ago, and was at that time intended to be a vehicle for a male lead. Now that Witherspoon’s signed on, the project will naturally be taking a new direction, and Aibel and Berger sound like solid choices to pen the script for the newly reimagined film.

The plan is for the writers to get working on Wish List after completing the adaptation of Hasbro’s board-game, Candyland, with an expected release date sometime in 2013. We’ll next be seeing Witherspoon opposite Tom Hardy and Chris Pine in McG’s This Means War next February, which should also be a great film, albeit for a totally different audience.

I appreciate that other opinions may be available, but his resumé is frankly astonishing. Seven, Fight Club, Panic Room, Zodiac, The Game, The Social Network, Benjamin Button. What we’ve seen so far of his re-working of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo looks mightily impressive as well.

Impatient lot that we are, talk quickly turns to next projects and although he has a lot of irons in the fire, Fincher may next turn his attention to a remake of Disney’s 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea, itself based on a Jules Verne novel about one Captain Nemo and his futuristic proto-submarine the Nautilus. The original film was most celebrated at the time for the impressive finale, with a giant squid doing battle with the Nautilus, though as we might expect, those effects have since become exceedingly dated. Quite what Fincher will do with the material is anyone’s guess.

Tone-wise, an interesting dimension is that Andrew Kevin Walker (who scripted Fincher’s “Seven” and cameoed as a neighbour in Panic Room) looks set to work on the script and although he has never returned to the high water mark of Seven, his work since has remained within the horror/gothic milieu (The Wolfman, Sleepy Hollow, 8mm), which would surely mean a departure from the none-more-Disney stylings of the original.

Fincher may sign up for a reworking of Cleopatra instead, though either way this is going to wind up as a second remake on the trot for him, which seems unusual for so individualistic and unique a director. We will let you know as soon as we do. In the meantime, check out the trailer below for the original 20,000 Leagues. Can you see Fincher doing this?

UpcomingPixar have got the first two posters for the film’s Oscar campaign, with Pixar setting their sights on the Best Animated Feature category for the John Lasseter-directed film, as well as Best Original Song and Best Original Score, for Michael Giacchino’s work scoring the film.

The summer film did expectedly well at the box office, taking just over $550m. at the box office from its $200m. budget, which is impressive work. The response from the critics was more mixed, so which side of the line the Academy will fall is anyone’s guess.

I think given some of the other candidates from this year – including Rango, The Adventures of Tintin, and Winnie the Pooh – Pixar might be about to break their four-year winning streak. But of course, only time will tell. The nominations will be announced on 24th January next year, followed by the awards ceremony on 26th February. So expect more For Your Consideration ad campaigns in the coming months, in the Best Animated Feature category as well as all the others. Without further ado, here are the new posters Pixar would like to present for your consideration. As usual with the second poster, click to enlarge.

The Muppets is in US cinemas today and we have to wait flippin ages until February 2012 to see it. No, we are NOT happy! Another reason that we are not happy is that the short film which will sit in front of The Muppets is a new one from Pixar using Toy Story and has the name Small Fry. We’ve seen a couple of images and a clip already but I think this one might be my favourite as it shows Mini Buzz getting to meet Mini Zurg. I guess if he met normal-sized Zurg it would be an unfair fight!

The voice cast is comprised of Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, John Ratzenberger, Wallace Shawn, Joan Cusack, Estelle Harris,Don Rickles, Jane Lynch, Teddy Newton, Emily Hahn, Angus MacLane, Lori Alan, Josh Cooley, Jess Harnell, Bret Parker, Emily Forbes, Kitt Hirasaki, Peter Sohn, Carlos Alazraqui, Bob Bergen, Timothy Dalton, Jason Topolski, Jim Ward with Angus MacLane helming the short.

Buzz Lightyear is left behind at a fast food restaurant when a kids’ meal toy version of Buzz takes his place. While Bonnie’s toys are stuck with the annoying three-inch-tall Buzz impersonator, the real Buzz is trapped in the restaurant at a support group for discarded toys. As Woody and the gang devise a way to rescue their friend, Buzz tries to escape the toy psychotherapy meeting.
