While we were fast asleep last night, Sony was making some rather awesome changes to the official website for The Amazing Spider-Man updating it with brand new images and full character descriptions for all the main characters. We’ve seen so many Spider-Man films now that it’s becoming a little old hat but that doesn’t stop people clicking to see the new images of which there are many. I absolutely love the image of Garfiled (Spdier-Man) sitting down with the mask looking up at him. In fact, there isn’t an image here I don’t really like!

Last week at Comic-Con Sony Pictures brought about 7 minutes of footage for the forthcoming film 30 Minutes or Less with panelists Nick Swardson and Aziz Ansari.

Unfortunately co-star Danny McBride was wrapped up with shooting Eastbound & Down so he couldn’t make it to the panel, but he did send a hilarious pre-recorded message to the fans at the Con telling everyone how awesome he was. Following the clip Director Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland) rolled some footage from the film showcasing the bank robbery scene. A portion of the clip can be seen at the end of this red band trailer (warning: trailer is uncensored)

The basic premise of the film finds pizza delivery boy Nick (Jesse Eisenberg) kidnapped by Dwayne (Danny McBride) and his partner in crime Travis (Nick Swardson) who force Nick to rob a bank on their behalf. The scene shown at Con takes place once Nick and Chet (Aziz Ansari) are about to enter the bank. In a very Laurel and Hardy fashion the two bicker over what their aliases will be during the heist.

Once they settle on their temporary names, the reluctant duo don their cliche black ski masks and bust through the doors doing their best to threaten the patrons inside. Nick and Chet demand the security guard throw his gun away but as the guard complies he inadvertently slides the weapon right to one of the female hostages. As she quickly pushes the gun away, the gun discharges and shoots another hostage in the leg. Nick and Chet realize they are clearly in way over their heads so Chet instructs the bank clerk put $100,000 cash in a bag from the vault. Nick grabs the bag of cash but before making his getaway he pauses and feels responsible for the wounded hostage. Nick decides to offer some of the money from the bag to the injured man. Adding insult to injury the bag’s security ink explodes all over the man’s face leaving Nick and Chet dumbfounded.

Chet and Nick grab a new bag full of money and mount their escape. The clip ends with a trailer-style sequence featuring a slew of new images from the movie. I must say that Jesse and Aziz have real on-screen chemistry and great comedic timing. All in all the film seems to strike a nice balance between physical comedy and witty dialogue. While some of the lines look like they may be a bit cheesy, but I still laughed out loud on more than one occasion. Hopefully the final product can be just as funny as everything they have shown so far.

30 Minutes or Less releases August 12 for the US & October 7 for the UK.

Jessica Biel (The Illusionist) and Kate Beckinsale (Underworld) have officially signed on to play the female leads, Melina and Lori respectively, in Columbia Pictures’ Total Recall remake.

Biel and Beckinsale will star opposite Colin Farrell (Phonebooth), Bryan Cranston (Little Miss Sunshine) and Ethan Hawke (Before Sunset).

As the nation states Euromerica and New Shanghai vie for supremacy, a factory worker (Farrell) begins to suspect that he’s a spy, though he is unaware which side of the fight he’s on.

Len Wiseman is attached to direct the remake, which is expected to start filming next Monday in Toronto.

Total Recall is scheduled to be released in the UK on August 22, 2012.

If there’s a romcom on the horizon, chances are it stars romcom babe Jen Aniston playing her usual tart but loveably dizzy character – not far removed from her Rachel days in fact. So, without knowing much more, the film immediately sparks interest.

But Aniston teamed up with manly hunk Gerry Butler in The Bounty Hunter last year, and that stank to high heaven. So, Aniston opposite ‘asexual’ Adam Sandler (sorry, Adam) seems a little far-fetched in the chemistry stakes. Sandler may always want to come across as your average man’s man, the likeable ‘guy next door’ – a comfortable stance to take, but setting the gorgeous Aniston’s heart a flutter in a film seems a long stretch.

Well, Aniston helps by dumbing it down for starters in this, playing Katherine, a single mom with two (irritating) kids who is not only Sandler as plastic surgeon Danny’s office manager/medical assistant, but his best friend, and the one who (surprise, surprise) knows him best. After keeping the ‘downtrodden married man’ routine going when an attempt at getting hitched turns sour, Danny finds the woman of his dreams in Palmer, a stunning blonde maths teacher (played by swimwear model Brooklyn Decker) at least 10 years his junior, and tries to convince her he’s the genuine article. Along comes Katherine as the ‘fake ex’ to save the day, and help spin one big fat lie after another. As you can guess, the Doc sees sense at the last minute, and the rest is history in glorious Hawaii.

Aniston attempting to look dowdy aside – greasy hair, specs and a pashmina is not going to convince anyone, there is a warmly witty banter going on between Aniston and Sandler to enjoy that seems effortless. Naturally, neither offers anything new to their history of romcom appearances – including their bog-standard attire, with Sandler still dressed in his trademark baggy jeans as a plastic surgeon (come on), and Aniston letting those famous tanned pins out for an airing in some of the best footwear of the season.

For us females who often scowl and covet for Aniston’s toned physique, there’s an added secret pleasure. It’s the biggest question of the lot: Who’s the fittest in the itsy, bitsy bikini? Aniston or Decker? There is a Bo Derek 10 moment when bikini babe Palmer comes out of the water like a lost Bond girl who’s just gone for a quick ocean swim, so even before you get to the ‘girl pissing contest’ by the Hawaiian waterfall, Decker’s in the lead for the gong for ‘top totty’. Move over, Jen. And to add to the fortysomething’s woes, Decker is a nice surprise – yes, the model can act, and actually gets to deliver some funny lines, albeit in a goofy manner. It’s no easy feat either, considering whom she plays opposite. The only bile-inducing moment is when they wheel in her real-life hubby, Andy Roddick, for a magical meeting cameo in the Mile High club.

The comedy show stealer by far, though, is Nicole Kidman as the ultra-competitive Devlin Adams, Katherine’s acidic-tongued and insensitive school nemesis who has ‘foot-in-mouth’ disease. Kidman in a part against type is utterly hilarious and has an obvious ball in the process, so this comes across well. Musician Dave Matthews is her equally nauseating husband, Ian Maxtone Jones, supposed iPad inventor, who’s in denial of a different sort. There’s a ‘coconut decider’ that involves Devlin, Ian, Katherine and Danny that’s a real hula howler.

The film also stars Nick Swardson as Danny’s egit cousin Eddie, who comes along for the paradise ride, and pretends to be a sheep exporter and Katherine’s new flame as part of the plan. His appearances turn the film back into a Sandler schoolboy farce, but they detract some of the idiocy away from Sandler who comes across as a wiser being in this.

There are the token kiddies meant to twang the heartstrings, with Bailee Madison as a little Cockney (in the very loosest terms) haggler and Griffin Gluck as her shy brother, Michael, who wants to swim with the dolphins – queue Hawaii. As young actors go, they irritate the hell out of you as they try to be as funny and quirky as their adult counterparts, but are a necessary evil in the plot. The film also has some highly bizarre injects of ‘humorous’ scenarios or set-up shots, like the kid getting Mom with a drink in the car park as Danny’s ‘family’ stride with purpose towards the camera in the background. It’s one of the many slow-mo moments for those who haven’t quite realised how stunning Katherine/Aniston is now she’s all scrubbed up. Plus Palmer does a proper slow-mo Bo moment for sheer titillating purposes, so something for the boys to enjoy.

As the title suggests: just go with it, and take it how you think it will be – you’ll be spot on, either way. You will find some sunshine laughs, though. This isn’t a Devlin by far – you need to see the film to understand this in context, but rest assured there will be plenty using this turn of phrase afterwards, so pity any real Devlins out there. There are far worse romcoms out there at present – not looking at anyone in particular, Kate Hudson…

Columbia Pictures have unveiled the official Super Bowl TV spot for upcoming romantic comedy Just Go With It.

Directed by Dennis Dugan, Just Go With It stars Adam Sandler, Jennifer Aniston, Brooklyn Decker, Dave Matthews, Nick Swardson, Bailee Madison, Heidi Montag and Nicole Kidman.

Danny (Sandler) is a successful plastic surgeon who pretends to be unhappily married to get women. When he finally meets a girl (Decker) he believes to be the woman of his dreams, he doesn’t use his method on her, but she soon finds the wedding band he uses. Afraid of telling her the truth, he tells her he’s getting a divorce, to which she requests to meet his soon-to-be ex. He asks his office manager Katherine (Aniston) to pose as his wife in order to prove his story, but one lie turns into another that brings Katherine’s children into his scheme, resulting in a trip to Hawaii that will change all their lives.

Just Go With It will be released in the UK on February 11.

Columbia Pictures have revealed the official Super Bowl TV spot for upcoming sci-fi invasion film World Invasion: Battle Los Angeles.

Directed by Jonathan Liebesman, World Invasion: Battle Los Angeles stars Aaron Eckhart, Michelle Rodriguez, Bridget Moynahan, Michael Peña, Lucas Till, Ne-Yo, Joey King, Noel Fisher and Taylor Handley.

For years, there have been documented cases of UFO sightings around the world - Buenos Aires, Seoul, France, Germany, China. But in 2011, what were once just sightings will become a terrifying reality when Earth is attacked by unknown forces. As people everywhere watch the world’s greatest cities fall, Los Angeles becomes the last stand for mankind in a battle no one expected. It’s up to a Marine staff sergeant (Eckhart) and his new platoon to draw a line in the sand as they take on an enemy unlike any they’ve ever encountered before.

World Invasion: Battle Los Angeles will be released in the UK on March 11.

What is curious about Len Wiseman’s remake of Paul Verhoeven’s 1990 Mars-based action movie Total Recall, with Arnold Schwarzenegger as its lead, is that is a remake of the Paul Verhoeven’s 1990 Mars-based action movie Total Recall and not a direct adaptation of the Philip K. Dick story We Can Remember it for You Wholesale on which Verhoeven’s movie was based.

Colin Farrell is said to be poised to jump into the future shoes of Arnold in this remake, due to shoot next year, and Kurt Wimmer is writing the script and news reaches us today that Toronto will be home to the production, which the report has valued at $200 million. Pinewood Toronto has the largest sound stage in North America and is the largest of its kind in Canada so securing the production is a huge coup for the facility. No word as of yet on how close it’ll stick to the 1990 film or if a third dimension will be involved in any way, but it’s a great story, perhaps ready for a twenty first century makeover.

Chance of a Schwarzenegger cameo? Slim. Sharon Stone? Maybe.

The Toronto Star braved the festive ice to deliver us this tale, and Coming Soon were in on the act too.

Dan Brown has taken over writing duties on the proposed film adaptation of The Lost Symbol.

Columbia Pictures are developing the adaptation which sees Brown’s regular protagonist, symbologist Robert Langdon, get mixed up with the Freemasons in Washington, D.C.

This is the first time Brown is adapting one of his own novels. Akiva Goldsman penned the script for The Da Vinci Code, while David Koepp adapted Angels & Demons.

Ron Howard has not yet committed to directing The Lost Symbol, neither has Tom Hanks officially signed on to reprise his role as Robert Langdon.

RopeofSilicon have divulged a brand new poster for Columbia Pictures’ romantic comedy How Do You Know.

Written and directed by James L. Brooks (Spanglish), How Do You Know stars Reese Witherspoon, Paul Rudd, Owen Wilson, Jack Nicholson, Dean Norris, Andrew Wilson and Kathryn Hahn.

How Do You Know will be released in the UK on January 28, 2011.

A romantic comedy centered on the love triangle between professional softball player Lisa Jorgenson (Witherspoon), a corporate executive (Rudd), and a major-league pitcher (Wilson) for the Washington Nationals.

Variety are reporting that Colin Farrell has been offered the lead role in Columbia Pictures Total Recall remake.

Farrell was previously tipped a few weeks back, along with fellow hot property actors Tom Hardy (Inception) and Michael Fassbender (Fish Tank).

Total Recall is loosely based on Philip K. Dick’s novelette We Can Remember It for You Wholesale and will be directed by Len Wiseman (Underworld).

Columbia Pictures recently hired Kurt Wimmer (Salt) to write the screenplay, with a release date set for late 2011.

The original, released in 1990, was directed by Paul Verhoeven and starred Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sharon Stone.

Synopsis: A plastic surgeon (Sandler), who is afraid of commitment, tells his much younger girlfriend (Decker) that he’s married, with children to avoid having a serious relationship with her. When she starts to believe he’s lying and threatens to leave him, he asks his office manager (Aniston) and her children (Madison and Gluck) to pose as his family in order to prove his honesty.

Sally Field and Martin Sheen are reportedly in talks with Columbia Studios to star in Marc Webb’s hotly-anticipated Spider-Man reboot.

Sheen is circling the role of Uncle Ben, while Field is interested in portraying Aunt May.

If their casting is finalised, they would star opposite Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone and Rhys Ifans.

Production on the as-yet-untitled Spider-Man reboot is set to commence in December, with a release date scheduled for July 3, 2012.

Columbia Pictures have released a brand new poster for The Green Hornet, a forthcoming action-thriller based on the character originally created by George W. Trendle and Fran Striker.

Directed by Michel Gondry, The Green Hornet stars Seth Rogen as the titular character, Cameron Diaz, Jay Chou, Christoph Waltz and Tom Wilkinson.

Rogen co-wrote the screenplay with Evan Goldberg.

Synopsis: Britt Reid (Rogen), the son of wealthy newspaper publisher James Reid (Wilkinson), is a ne-er do well playboy who inherits a media empire after his father dies. One day, he meets an employee named Kato (Chou), who’s more than he appears. After realizing that Kato secretly has a cache of weapons and utilities, Britt decides that the two should become crimefighters, taking on the identity of the Green Hornet. With the help of his new secretary, Lenore Case (Diaz), Britt discovers that a man named Chudnofsky (Waltz) controls the city’s criminal underworld. Meanwhile, Chudonfsky has united all of the gangs of the city and seeks the Green Hornet, believing him to be a direct threat to his elaborate grand plan.

A few days after the trailer dropped, Columbia Pictures and Imagine Entertainment have released the official trailer for Restless, their forthcoming teen drama.

Directed by Gus Van Sant from a script by Jason Lew, Restless stars Mia Wasikowska, Ryo Kase, Jane Adams, Henry Hopper, Chin Han and Schuyler Fisk.

Restless will be released on January 28, 2011.

Synopsis: The story of a terminally ill teenage girl who falls for a boy who likes to attend funerals and their encounters with the ghost of a Japanese kamikaze pilot from WWII.
