Christmas Day may have been and gone but we’re still feeling very festive here at HeyUGuys and since we’re still in the twelve days of Christmas, we thought it would be a lovely idea to show off five different clips from five of the Harry Potter movies that celebrate this festive time of year! 1) Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone

We’ll go in order and that means starting off with the very first movie – Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. This movie broke the mould when it comes to all things Potter, set the scene and introduced us to three actors (among many others) who we’d come to see on the big screen for the next eleven years. Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint are now household names and this is why…..

In this scene we get all festive seeing Hagrid (Robbie Coltrane) pulling in the Christmas Tree into Hogwarts followed by Professor Flitwick (Warwick Davis) decorating it in a rather unique way. We then get to see Ron (Grint) and Harry (Radcliffe) playing chess which comes in very handy for the climax of the film while Hermione (Watson) gets ready to go home for the Christmas holidays.

Senna is released in UK cinemas today and I’ve been banging on about the world seeing it ever since I caught a very early screening of it at SXSW this year. It’s finally here for all to see and I’m so pleased that pretty much every single review of the documentary directed by Asif Kapadia is not just good but staggeringly brilliant!

I got to catch up with Kapadia to talk about the movie which you can see here and if you haven’t seen my review yet, check it out here. We’ve been sent a vast array of clips from the film which in total are around 12 minutes long. If you’re not sure whether this movie is for you, have a watch of the below. Good Sunday everyone, this is The Sunday Lunch, HeyUGuys’ excuse to let down our Movie News blogging hair and enjoy the lighter side of movies.

This week’s Sunday Lunch funny comes from a clip that Jon Lyus sent me which put the biggest smile on my face.

It shows Jim Henson, being voiced by Kermit the frog, showing how to make puppets out of anything and then giving them more of a personality than those muppets from Big Brother.

It’s 15 minutes long and is just wonderful to see Jim Henson in action, he’s a true genius. Check it out below.

The clip of Jim Henson working his magic gave me a taste for anything Muppet so I’ve hunted down some of the best Muppet clips for your viewing pleasure and it proves what a brilliant and universally loved program the Muppet Show was.

Muppets do Bohemian Rhapsody, Genius

Swedish Chef, Animal and Beaker sing Danny Boy, this is very very funny.

One of the funniest jokes ever told by Seymour and Pepe (the King Prawn) from the short lived Muppets Tonight series. This makes me laugh so much.

Fozzie Bear, funnier than the average bear.

Another musical number from the Muppets, it’s all about their expressions and personalities that make such a simple concept work.

Following on from the really well received Inception Simplified picture from last week there seems to be a real good sense of humour in movie fans and we hope to exploit this by bringing you more of the same, we fully encourage your input, feedback, submissions, links and own creations as long as it’s funny and movie related, and we will put them up on the site for the HeyUGuys Sunday Lunch spread.

For the first Sunday Lunch I thought I’d start by bringing the Expendables back down to Earth from the testosterone fuelled macho rampage that has dominated the movies recently. These guys are not so tough, below is the proof.

Last week Gary posted this exhaustive look at the cinematic death dealt out by the main actors in Slyvester Stallone’s bombastic 80s action heroes class reunion, The Expendables.

Taking the gory initiative artist Stephen Wildish compiled this excellent infographic to illustrate the macabre tally and we wanted to share it with you.

With the biggest, greatest, most over the top action film of all time coming out on 19th August in the form of The Expendables (our review here), HeyUGuys is bringing you the ultimate run down of the kill count that these historic action actors have each tallied up.

From throat rips to decapitations, martial art assassins to robotic killers and Yippee Ki-Yay’s to Asta La Vista’s, they have dealt death in every way possible with every weapon imaginable.

Each death reaches the same conclusion but each actor carries it off in their own unique style, often adding a personal touch. Be it an Arnie verbal send off like “Stick Around” after being stuck with a huge knife against a post or adding some humour by playing games with the baddies like John McClane in Die Hard ” Now I have a machine gun, Ho Ho Ho”. A memorable death greatly adds to the enjoyment of watching baddies/goodies perish at the hands, feet, guns, knives, robotic limbs of these iconic action movie stars.

Although this rundown is never going to be 100% accurate I have tried to find as much information to build the most definitive totals of bloody deaths in action film lore. I’ve also added a guess of how many kills each actor racked up in The Expendables, it was an impossible task, but I think Jason Statham came out on top after recording 41 kills in one scene pushing him ahead of his nearest competitor.

This is the Expendables body count run down that totals over 2000 dead bodies in over 300 films combined.

MICKEY ROUKE

First up is the rejuvenated Mickey Rourke who never really started off as an action movie star but has slowly become a very dominant actor in the action movie genre.

With starring roles in the excellent Sin City as Marv and as Ivan Vanko in Iron Man 2 being recent highlights, Rourke has shown an incredible natural ability to add a villainous menace or a convincing powerful force to his roles which makes him such a watchable actor in action films. Rourke again gives a great performance as ‘Tool’ in the Expendables, easily the best actor in the whole film.

Probably one of the toughest actors on the list, as an amateur boxer he reportedly had 12 consecutive first round knockouts and also went undefeated in 8 professional boxing matches from 1991 -1995 winning 6 and drawing 2 bouts before retiring to go back to acting. Rourke needed facial surgery to correct his disfigurement due to injuries suffered from boxing and a balls up from his plastic surgeon left him with his drastically different looking features.

Rourke’s first film was alongside Jon Belushi and Dan Akroyd in Spielberg’s war spoof ’1941′ and he went on to star in 9 1/2 weeks, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, Sin City, The Wrestler and Iron Man 2 and he also turned down the roles of Axel Foley in Beverly Hills Cop, Stuntman Mike in Tarantino’s Grindhouse episode Death Proof, Johnny Ringo in Tombstone and Butch Coolidge in Pulp Fiction.

Along with Stallone, they are the only Oscar nominated actors from the Expendables and Rourke got his Oscar nod for the role of Randy Robinson in the Wrestler

JASON STATHAM

Jason Statham is our next hard man in the list and a surprise action star considering he came from nowhere to appear in Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and two years after that starred in Snatch. All of a sudden he became a martial artist action movie star who took off in ‘The Transporter’ a film which spawned two further sequels, which Stathem then topped with the insane, ridiculous and guilty pleasures ‘Crank’ and ‘Crank 2: High Voltage’ where he played the delightfully named Chev Chelios, a man trying to keep his ticker ticking by doing adrenaline pumping antics or otherwise he dies. Love it.

He has already faced off against Expendables Jet Li in War and The One as well as Mickey Rourke in 13 and has had leading roles in Bank Job, Revolver, Deathrace with further supporting roles in Italian Job, Mean Machine, Ghost of Mars and as the lead villain in Cellular.

When you watch a Statham film you can expect a few things from them. 1, there will be action and some very OTT action at that. 2, there will be some very well choreographed martial arts that include props and the scenery around him which is very reminiscent of the classic Jackie Chan films which it makes his films more than your average martial art film and very accessible. And 3, there will some quirky humour.

Statham has blossomed into a well loved Hollywood actor who must be in heaven starring in The Expendables with such iconic action movie heroes and fully deserves his major role as the co-star alongside Stallone. For me he was one of the many highlights of The Expendables with his knife killing skills.

BRUCE WILLIS

Bruce Willis is only third in the list of the action stars in terms of on screen kills but is easily one of the most loved due to his success as John McClane in the Die Hard movies; despite how poorly received the fourth movie was, the lure of seeing McClane back on the screen was the main draw, and that’s thanks to Willis.

He had his first staring role in the non action movie ‘The Return of Bruno’, a “Hilarious Rock Comedy” which was followed by Rom-Com ‘Blind Date’ starring alongside Kim Basinger. It looked like Bruce Willis was heading towards being a comedy actor with his next role being in ‘Sunset’ with James Garner, but after that the legend was born with Bruce Willis being cast as Detective John McClane in 1988′s Die Hard apparently beating actors Richard Gere, Don Johnson and Richard Dean Anderson in the process and the rest is history.

Willis has performed in over 60 films and numerous TV shows with highlights being Pulp Fiction, 12 Monkeys, The Fifth Element, Sin City, Armageddon, Sixth Sense and Unbreakable. Moonlighting was the highlight of his TV Career winning a Global Globe with his performance as David Addison and also had appearances in Friends and Ally McBeal, but in the end he will always be known as John ‘Die Hard’ McClane.

JET LI

Next on the list is Jet Li and it’s also a step up in kill rates per film for the action stars, in fact Triple the amount of Bruce Willis.

Jet Li (real name Li Lian Jie) is arguably the most natural action fighting star in the film with an incredible knowledge of martial arts under his belt with the mastery of Wushu, Tai Chi, Drunken Fist, Praying Mantis Fist as well as weapon skills that make him the real fighting machine who could probably take on any of the guys on this list and win.

Jet Li’s first entry into movies was the successful Shaolin Temple films that were followed by the Once upon a time in China trilogy, Fist of Legend and High Risk that developed him into one of the greatest martial artists on the big screen of all time. Inevitably it wasn’t long before Hollywood came calling when he appeared in Lethal Weapon 4 in his first ever role as a villain which was then followed by his first Hollywood leading role in Romeo Must Die.

Li continued to make films back in China as well as in Hollywood with the pick being the stunning Hero but also he starred in The One, Cradle 2 the Grave, Unleashed, The Mummy 3, Fearless and The Forbidden Kingdom which would all be pretty abysmal or average films if it wasn’t for the killer moves and presence of the great Jet Li appearing in them.

Not many martial art actors have earned world wide recognition but Jet Li has fully earned his place alongside the greats of Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan as the best.

SYLVESTER STALLONE

The man who brought them all together in Expendables and the man who holds the second highest amount of kills in one movie for his throat ripping, machine gun firing and knife chopping killing spree in 2008′s Rambo. From his most innocent kill from dropping dead weight in Cliff Hanger to shooting a soldier pointblank repeatedly with the biggest machine gun in Rambo 4, Sylvester Stallone is quite possibly the first name that would spring to mind if you were asked to name an action movie star on Family Fortunes, he is and always will be an action movie star.

Complications during his birth left Stallone with a severed a nerve in his head which left him with partial paralysis in his face, slurred speech and his sagging lower lip, but something that could have seriously limited most actors chances to succeed, it  has become as much a part of his character as his bulging muscles and killing machine personality.

His career has had its up and downs with Stop! or my Mom will Shoot being a horrible low and Rocky being a triple Oscar winning high. Stallone has a fine collection of franchise movies with Rocky producing six highly enjoyable films and Rambo forging four well loved movies with Rambo 4 giving Stallone the second highest kill rate in one film from our list with a staggering 87, he just knows how to create iconic characters in his movies.

Stallone is one of the biggest box office earners, one of the greatest movie stars of all time and one of the most recognisable actors in the world. Action movies wouldn’t be anywhere near as enjoyable without his contribution.

ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER

Although having little screen time in the Expendables, the Guvnor of California will be rightfully represented in the movie and he will forever been known as one of the best and most consistently enjoyable action movie stars that there ever will be. If not for his amazing array of movies, he is memorable for his quotable and trademark one liners or the characters he has portrayed; the man is an action hero.

Arnie started off as a body builder winning Mr. Universe at the age of 22 and entering movies in his debut as Arnold Strong in Hercules in New York. Arnie then went on to get a ‘Best acting debut’ Golden Globe for his role in Stay Hungry (1976) alongside Jeff Bridges and Sally Field but it was Conan the Barbarian that launched him into the Action Movie Hall of Fame which subsequently lead to his role as The Terminator. After dominating the movie business for 20 years he then did the unthinkable and became Governor of California where he has served to this day.

Arnie holds the record for most kills in one film with the awesome Commando where he slaughtered a phenomenal 102 bad guys. It’s the ultimate display of killing but it was no way his greatest moment, most people will instantly say Terminator is his defining moment and it’s hard to argue with that. His turn as the killing machine sent from the future to kill Sarah Connor, then protect her son John Connor in James Cameron’s sequel, is one of the finest in Sci-Fi history and one he will be forever remembered for.

In his prime Arnie made arguably the finest collection of Action movies that have ever been made by one actor, easily beating everyone on this list in terms of variety, enjoyment, cult status and personality in his films, Arnie has proven to be possibly the most popular action movie star of all time. Listing the films just proves this:

Conan, The Terminator, Commando, Raw Deal, Predator, Running Man, Red Heat, Total Recall, Terminator 2 and True Lies that (for me) was his last true classic Action Movie. Arnie is my favourite action movie star of all time and in my opinion, No one comes close.

Arnold Schwarzenegger – 513 Kills on screen – 31 Films – 16.5 per film

Most Kills – 102 as Matrix in Commando

DOLPH LUNDGREN

And finally the winner of the most kills combined and with a staggering 632 kills in an average of 17.5 people per film, it’s Dolph ‘He-Man’ Lundgren.

To be honest I know little of Lundgren’s films, I know he was in Masters of the Universe, Rocky 4, The Punisher, Universal Soldier films and Blackjack but apart from those, the others I’ve never seen or ever really heard of but that doesn’t make his career insignificant. Dolph is a killing machine and has killed almost more people than Rourke, Statham, Willis and Jet Li put together and has a higher average per film to boot.

Dolph Lundgren was born in Sweden and it the largest of the Expendables at 6’5″ who has a third Degree Black Belt. His career in action films started in a small role in James Bond A View to a Kill due to being the real life body guard to Grace Jones, but it was his best and most well remembered role as Ivan Drago in Rocky IV that set him onto the path of becoming a major action movie star.

He followed Rocky with his most high profile role with the live adaptation of He-Man, he played the lead role of Adam Prince of Eternia in a fantasy/action movie that I still have fond memories of seeing, but one that I haven’t seen since the late 80′s, It can’t be that bad…

After Masters of the Universe, Lundgren went on to star in Red Scorpion, The Punisher and Universal Soldier alongside Jean Claude Van Damme that turned out to be his last major movie for many years as he slipped into low profile straight to DVD movies where he has made a living from since including turning to directing in 2004 with the movie Defender.

Lundgren was considered for the role of Ben Richards in The Running Man and was also offered the role of Captain America in the 1980 version but due to doing the Punisher, he turned it down. It’s a shame as he could have easily of had a career like Schwarzenegger, but he made a better villain than a hero and the bad guy rarely becomes the big star.

THE BLOODY FACTS:

TOTALS: 2149 Combined Kills in 302 Films.

1. HOW HIGH – If you laid all the bodies these guys have racked up in their movies and stack em up like a single tower morbid game of Jenga it would be the height of 2149 feet, 655 metres or 0.4 of a mile which is roughly the same size as five London Eye big wheels, Two Eiffel Towers or as tall as 13 Godzilla’s (Japanese 1954 original version)..

2. HOW FAR- Alternatively if you don’t fancy stacking you could lay each body-bag head to toe (presuming each guy exterminated was 6 foot tall, which is about right height for your average villain) it will total up to about 12,894 feet, 2.5 Miles or 3,930 metres in Length. That’s 9.8 times around an Olympic track that would take Usain Bolt about six minutes to reach the end of running at full pelt..

3. BLOODBATH! – If the average human body contains 5.6 litres of blood and presuming after each life our action stars takes the bodies loses around half that, then there would be enough blood to fill 10,588 pints of beer, 22.3 baths of water and is three times the amount of blood used to blast out of the bed in A Nightmare on Elm Street!

So, Twilight fans are very keen to see their heroes and villains disrobe and suck face and blood in the new film from The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, which premieres in Los Angeles tomorrow.

This is not news – we all know that self proclaimed Twihards will talk up Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Launter, and the Stephanie Meyer books a storm given half the chance, but the reports coming out of the Huffington Post (among others) of Twilight fans taking over the Nokia Plaza with a ‘tent city’ are testament to the film’s enormous magnetism and how fandom manifests itself.

Twilight Eclipse Premiere Queue - Fans Camp Out

I remember hearing of Star Wars fans camping out in anticipation for the release of The Phantom Menace, and I’m sure that down the years other film franchises have inspired similar events – that the Twilight: Eclipse premiere is the latest will come as no surprise. These events are great publicity and unless there’s a huge Team Edward/Team Jacob bunfight in the offing I’m sure it’ll be great fun for all those involved.

There’s a tendency to mock, but I’d rather see fans of any film get truly excited about the cinematic experience – regardless of its quality – and I hope they all have a fangtastic time.

One thing’s for sure – they’ll be enough fanfic written in those tents to fill the British Library, and if they get hungry they can always bid on this bizarre item on eBay…

Twilight: Eclipse is released in the UK 9th July and in the US 30th June.

I said yesterday that Summit Entertainment were in danger of showing us their entire movie, Twilight: Eclipse with all the clips that they’re releasing. Well, looks like I’m a bit closer to being right with these 3 new clips (one is an extended version) from the movie courtesy of ComingSoon.net.

Twilight: Eclipse is the third installment of the Twilight franchise which stars Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner, all of whom can be seen in these clips. These are released on the same day that Twilight: Breaking Dawn, the fourth installment of the book series by Stephanie Meyer is to be two separate movies.

Twilight: Eclipse is directed by David Slade and is released 30th June in the US and 9th July in the UK.

This brilliant Mortal Kombat video has been doing the rounds recently and seems to hint at the possibility of an entirely new Mortal Kombat movie that’s losing its supernatural roots for a more gritty and more realistic approach and quite frankly I’m very impressed.

The Video was brought to our attention from Joblo.com who state that it’s a teaser for the new game in the popular game franchise called Mortal Kombat Rebirth which is due to hit at the huge gaming event E3 this year but the trailer is so dam good it has since been touted around Hollywood for a much needed reboot and everything about it should get the studios pretty excited and if they can find a way to stick to everything this video is hinting at with the interesting take on the characters, the darkness of the story and shear brutality of it all then it would certainly make an exciting film to look forward to.

Mortal Kombat was a huge part of my childhood having regular battles with HeyUGuys founder Jon and I’m sure it will raise a huge amount of interest from fellow gamers and even beyond that niche due to its brilliant production values and some pretty decent performances from some noticeable cast. Here’s hoping it gets picked up, check out the video below also in fine HD quality.

While recovering from the thousand hand backslapping he took at last night’s National Movie Awards here in the UK, Tom Cruise’s appearance reminded us that he’s got a new film coming out on the 2nd of July here in the UK and two new clips for Knight and Day are online now.

With a remit approaching something like Mission: Charlie’s Angels Cruise and Diaz are more than capable of rolling with the punches and explosions while still keeping the charm/sass factor high.

The clips linked below give a fairly good indication of what we have in store when this James Mangold directed spy comedy hits.

I’m a big fan of Julianne Moore and while the films she has appeared in haven’t always set the world on fire she is always a strong presence, and I’m looking forward to her turn in this new supernatural thriller.

Following the recent trailer and first clip from her new film Shelter we’ve been given seven clips from the Mans Marlind and Bjorn Stein directed thriller, so if you don’t mind being spoiled have a long, hard look at this one before it’s 9th of April release.

Here’s the synopsis,

The post of the first four minutes from the new season of LOST we posted here earlier today got me excited about the start of the final season but like Dave I can’t watch it yet and ruin it for myself and will hold out till it shows on TV in the UK.

So i started looking around YouTube to find some other movies about LOST and found some nice stuff made by fans that I found really enjoyable to watch and well worth a post and some trailers for the new season which just add to the anticipation of season 6.

The first one is an excellent real time clip of the crash of Oceanic 815 using clips from the previous series to show how all the events that occurred around the time of the crash look when played in sequence. Its a cracking effort that works really well and makes complete sense of the first three seasons plane crash, Hatch and the Others connecting storyline. Enjoy and beware of spoilers if you haven’t seen all the series, especially season 5.

Next up is a trailer, presumably fan made, that just gave me goosebumps with Jacob and “the Man” discussing the loop hole and his hatred of Jacob and Locke explaining the two sides of Black and White to Walt, its so intriguing and in all probability the basis of the plot of season 6, the war of the two sides. The music is a bit loud at times but still its a nice teaser.

This is a lovely Spanish Promo for season 6 of LOST, its beautifully told using a chessboard to show the characters as pieces of a game. It’s in black and white and is by far the best LOST clip I’ve seen.

This clip is funny and pretty much asks the questions every LOST fan wants to know about all the plot holes, unexplained mysteries and that we need ANSWERS, all in a nice little song.

At the risk of giving you all a Lovely Bones overdose, here’s a brand new poster and two new clips to coincide with the Royal World Premiere which took place in London tonight. We have some photos from the evening which you can check out here.

The new poster is as beautiful as everything else that we’ve seen of this movie and although we didn’t make it to the world premiere, we’re hoping that we’ll get a screening soon so we can bring you our review.

The poster (click it above to enlarge) and one of the clips debuted on MySpace earlier this evening with the other being hosted on MSN (which you’ll have to visit as it won’t let me embed it). The Lovely Bones is directed by Peter Jackson and has a great cast which includes Mark Wahlberg, Rachel Weisz, Susan Sarandon, Stanley Tucci, Michael Imperioli and Saoirse Ronan. It’s out 29th January and is based on the critically acclaimed best-selling novel by Alice Sebold.

The Lovely Bones Exclusive Clip

Four years ago, the first of Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight Saga novels was published. Four novels and one smash hit movie later, and Twilight has become a global phenomena every bit as huge as Harry Potter. Next week sees the release of the second movie in the Twilight Saga, New Moon. Based on the novel of the same name, also the second in the series, the story this time focuses on werewolves, in the shape of the Quileute tribe.

 At the end of the first film, Edward and Bella Swan returned to Forks, Washington together. As New Moon begins, Edward and his family leave town in an attempt to keep Bella safe. Feeling hurt and confused, Bella takes to an old motorcycle and hits the road. Bella has discovered that she can have visions of her love Edward whenever she get’s an adrenaline rush, so she goes out in search of danger. Actress Kristen Stewart returns as Bella. She has recently been quoted in the press bemoaning the amount of attention her personal life has attracted. Linked with Edward Cullen actor Robert Pattison during filming of the first film, there have been rumours this time around that she has been getting up close and personal with co-star and on screen love interest Taylor Lautner. This rivalry echoes the rivalry of the upcoming storyline of the movie, and serves as great publicity for it’s release.

 Lautner of course returns as old friend Jacob Black. Bella and Jacob strike up a deep friendship, and he swears to protect her. It turns out he is a werewolf, a member of the Quileute tribe. Seeing as there is a great rivalry between werewolves and vampires, Bella finds her loyalties are severely tested. There was some doubt as to whether Lautner would be allowed to return for New Moon. The producers felt that with his diminutive frame, Lautner wouldn’t be able to live up to the increased physical presence required, so were keen to recast the part. The young actor was determined to keep hold of the role, and hit the gym big time. Gaining thirty pounds of muscle, he secured the part. His new look is testament to his determination and hard work.

 Not returning this time around however is director Catherine Hardwicke, due to scheduling difficulties. This time around, Chris Weitz is at the helm. No stranger to movies adapted from books, his previous work has included About a Boy, based on Nick Hornby’s novel of the same name, and the first movie from the His Dark Materials series, The Golden Compass.

 In the source novel, Edward doesn’t play a very big part. Robert Pattison fans can be cheered however, at the news that the writers have added plenty of extra scenes for Edward, mostly in the form of Bella’s visions and dreams. Pattison also struggled with all the attention he received as a result of the last film, so may be happier that he is playing a lesser role in this one. Believing that Bella is dead, a distraught Edward travels to Italy to commit suicide. He hopes he can anger the peace loving Volturi, led by Michael Sheen, by revealing the existence of vampires, leading them to destroy him.

 Whilst the first Twilight movie was shot on a relatively low budget, the expanded locations and more epic nature of the second part has meant a cost increase. With the huge profit made from the last film, and the hype machine in overload this time around, the producers won’t be worried. With just last weeks opening 2012 as meaningful competition, and increased interest from both fans and non-fans alike, New Moon is set to smash the box office benchmark set by the previous film. Whilst those who hadn’t read the books didn’t know anything about the series last year, the huge attention drawn by the cast and the rabid fans will draw in many many more movie goers, to see what the fuss is all about.

With a production budget of just over $35m, the original Twilight made a worldwide gross of $385m. New Moon will probably garner close to $500m. After it’s release, fans can look forward to next year’s Eclipse, expected in July, where Jacob and Edward’s rivalry really hots up, as vampires and werewolves unite against a common enemy. Then the final story in the series, 2011′s Breaking Dawn, will round out the Twilight Saga.

Here’s a couple of nice little clips (embedded below) from the Coen Brothers latest, A Serious Man. Jon was lucky enough to see the movie at the London Film Festival (review here) and he loved it. The movie stars Michael Stuhlbarg, Sari Lennick, Richard Kind, Fred Melamed, Aaron Wolff, Jessica McManus and Adam Arkin.

“A Serious Man” is the story of an ordinary man’s search for clarity in a universe where Jefferson Airplane is on the radio and “F-Troop” is on TV. It is 1967, and Larry Gopnik (Michael Stuhlbarg), a physics professor at a quiet Midwestern university, has just been informed by his wife Judith (Sari Lennick) that she is leaving him. She has fallen in love with one of his more pompous colleagues, Sy Ableman (Fred Melamed), who seems to her a more substantial person than the feckless Larry. Larry’s unemployable brother Arthur (Richard Kind) is sleeping on the couch, his son Danny (Aaron Wolf) is a discipline problem and a shirker at Hebrew school, and his daughter Sarah (Jessica McManus) is filching money from his wallet in order to save up for a nose job.

A Serious Man is released 20th November.

Here’s a few new clips from Dennis Quaid’s new movie, Pandorum, directed by Christian Alvart. The movie looks like an action style Event Horizon but from what I’ve heard we should expect good things.

Pandorum comes out in the US on 2nd October and also stars Ben Foster, Antje Traue and Cung Le.

Synopsis: Two astronauts awaken in a hyper-sleep chamber aboard a spacecraft. It’s pitch black, they are disorientated and the only sound is a low rumble and creak from the belly of the spacecraft. They can’t remember anything – who are they? what is their mission? The only way out of the chamber is a dark and narrow airshaft. Corporal Bower, the younger of the two, crawls inside, while the other, Lt. Payton, stays behind for guidance on a radio transmitter. As Bower ventures deeper and deeper into the ship, he discovers that he and Payton are not alone. Slowly the spacecraft’s shocking and deadly secrets come unravelled and the astronauts realise that the survival of mankind hinges on their actions.
