It’s an extended scene from the film which shows Chris Pine and Tom Hardy finding out that they are both dating the same girl, a certain Reese Witherspoon.

The movie is directed McG who is the man who brought us Charlie’s Angels and Terminator Salvation so he know knows how to make an action movie. In the clip, we get to see a rather great selection of comedy and action and I am actually really excited to see it!

The world’s deadliest CIA operatives are inseparable partners and best friends until they fall for the same woman. Having once helped bring down entire enemy nations, they are now employing their incomparable skills and an endless array of high-tech gadgetry against their greatest nemesis ever – each other.

You may have already seen the clip from the video where McG serenades me. Remarkably that wasn’t even the first time that had happened that day. In addition to the full interview with McG, where we spoke about his hopes for the movie, the influence the Bond franchise and Oceans 11 have had on the film, and the ‘R’-rating it originally received in the US.

We also spoke with Chris Pine about the relationship between the male leads in the film, and got a quick snippet from Reese Witherspoon about the appeal of This Means War, and her love of small dramatic movies.

Check out the interview below, and check back in a few weeks time for our interview with McG. This Means War is released March 2nd.

Last night, Ben Mortimer and Colin Hart attended the UK premiere of This Means War in Kensington, London (see their full report including interviews with Reese Witherspoon and Chris Pine shortly) and ended up being serenaded by the film’s director.

This footage shows what sort of atmosphere was on the carpet last night as Ben Mortimer’s dreams came true as the Terminator Salvation Director, McG decided to sing Michael Jackson’s song ‘Ben’ to him on the spot!

I’ll say no more but watch on and enjoy!

Here’s the UK poster for Chris Pine, Tom Hardy and Reece Witherspoon’s new movie, This Means War which hits UK cinemas 17th February. It’s directed by McG who recently brought us Terminator Salvation. If you missed the trailer for the movie, you can have a little watch here. I’m not too sure what to make of it if I’m honest. It could well prove to be good harmless fun and time will no doubt tell.

Two of the world’s top secret agents are best friends who never let anything come between them — until they inadvertently fall for the same woman. It’s all-out war, as the two spies battle each other with high-tech surveillance, advanced tactics, and an arsenal capable of bringing down a small country.

This poster is (I think) the same as the previous teaser poster that we saw a while back except this time it’s in colour and has a QR code.

Click the poster to make it grow big and scroll down for a new 60 second TV spot.

The reboot of the franchise was desperately needed and JJ Abrams’ first instalment was a sensational shot in the arm for a series that had become bogged down since the high water mark of First Contact.

What is not especially welcome news is that Abrams is looking at shooting the sequel on film and then post-converting it into 3D. Obviously the “shooting on film” bit is not of concern, it is the dreaded “post-conversion” which is troubling, given the poor application of the technique up until now.

JJ Abrams is no mug and has certainly proved himself a steady and dependable pair of hands so far, but this does very much feel like a step in the wrong direction. At a time when (at least here in the UK), 3D ticket sales are on the wane, it seems unnecessary to gear up for a post-conversion.

Having said that, it might yet prove to be an astute move. Prior success or not, Abrams is as susceptible as anyone to studio pressure and may have therefore negotiated a deal to post-convert, hoping that either 3D will have fallen out of favour by then and he won’t need to, or that the technology will have improved, leaving the results more impressive. Either way, that is a massive leap of speculation on my part and in no way grounded in any sort of information or insight.

JJ Abrams also wants to shoot some of the film in IMAX format, which he is thoroughly enthusiastic about, though he remains predictably tight-lipped about story arcs, characters, villains and the like, all of which will no doubt unfold in due course.

MTV have this story, together with a few more quotes from Abrams regarding his aspirations for the sequel.

Some, understandably, cannot forgive him for the double-slap that was Charlie’s Angels, others are critical of his contribution to the Terminator franchise. Personally, I loathed the Charlie’s Angels films, but found Terminator Salvation pretty interesting and enjoyable and I’m prepared to give McG a chance to continue to redeem himself.

His next effort in that rehabilitation is This Means War, which sees Chris Pine (Star Trek, Unstoppable) and Tom Hardy (Bronson, Inception) as secret agents/spies/something exciting who find out that they are both dating the same woman, Reese Witherspoon. They appear to fall out over her in a big way, as the existing trailer amply demonstrated.

We now have a new international trailer, though there is very little that is new here. What remains clear is that getting Pine and Hardy on board was a massive coup for what could have been (and what might yet be) a deeply terrible film. They both have bundles of charisma and charm and fit effortlessly into the blend of physicality and light-hearted banter that their respective roles require. McG can direct action, but whether he can give us something about which we truly care is another question entirely. This could be throwaway nonsense, or it could be a lot of fun (or both). We will see. For now, watch and enjoy.

Just yesterday, we got the news that Peter Weller, the original RoboCop, had joined the new additions to the cast of JJ Abrams’ upcoming Star Trek sequel, along with Alice Eve and Benicio del Toro. (You can catch up on all our Star Trek-related coverage right here.)

Del Toro was the first of the new additions to be announced last month, and over the past few days there’s been some speculation as to what villain he’d be playing, with Khan surfacing as a possibility. Abrams was thought to have denied that del Toro would be playing Khan, but Vulture, via The Playlist, are now reporting that his wording was a slight technicality, in that del Toro is now exiting the project, and that the film’s villain is indeed set to be that of Khan.

I must confess that I’ve never seen any of the Star Trek films, including Abrams’ first film in 2009, but I’m a big fan of del Toro’s work, and thought that he was a brilliant addition to the original cast, which is headed up by Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, and Anton Yelchin.

Unfortunately, it looks as though that’s no longer the case, with the report citing issues over wages being the breaking point for negotiations, which is a real shame. The show, of course, must go on, and so the search will no doubt be on to re-cast the villain’s role in del Toro’s place. With production scheduled to start next month, for a release date currently set at 17th March, 2013, it’s not unreasonable to expect an announcement coming soon, hopefully in time for Christmas.

Weller is best known for his role as the original RoboCop back in 1987, and has more recently been seen in TV’s Dexter, Fringe, and half a season of 24 back on Day 5 as Christopher Henderson.

Much of the original cast, including Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, and Anton Yelchin, are expected to reprise their roles for the sequel, with del Toro heading up the new additions in the form of the as-yet-unannounced villain.

Naturally, plot details are being kept under wraps, including what Weller’s role will be, but with a script coming from frequent collaborators Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, whose credits include the original 2009 film, Transformers, and TV’s Alias and Fringe, and with their Cowboys & Aliens co-writer Damon Lindelof joining them this time around, I think it’s a safe bet that fans will be happy with whatever they’ve got in store for us.

Though I’ve not seen him in much, I thought Weller was brilliant in season five of 24, and he’s clearly still on top of his game in joining the cast for the sequel. Filming is scheduled to begin next month, and is currently set to be released in 3D on 17th May, 2013.

We got our first look at McG’s next directed feature, This Means War, last month with the film’s first trailer, and it’s set to be a lot of fun when it comes out next year. As an action/comedy/romance film, it shouldn’t be taking itself too seriously, and when you’ve got Tom Hardy, Reese Witherspoon, and Chris Pine in the leads, you should be on to a winner.

We’ve now got a new poster to share with you that gives us a look at the leading men suited and booted, gun in hand, and Witherspoon standing between them looking better than ever.

“The world’s deadliest CIA operatives are inseparable partners and best friends until they fall for the same woman. Having once helped bring down entire enemy nations, they are now employing their incomparable skills and an endless array of high-tech gadgetry against their greatest nemesis ever – each other.”

Witherspoon seems to be one of those actresses capable of suppressing the ageing process, looking as young here as she did back in 1999 in Cruel Intentions. The tagline, ‘It’s Spy Against Spy’, seems a bit flat to me, but I’m naturally not going to let it put me off the film.

McG’s last offering in the director’s chair was Terminator Salvation, which I thought was pretty great, so I’ve got high hopes for his follow-up. This Means War will be with us on 17th February next year, and until then, I leave you with the new poster to enjoy. As usual, click to enlarge.

So limited in fact, that even though you could purchase a ticket at the box office, some of the staff at the cinema had no idea it was playing in their own theater.

If you happened to follow William Shatner’s twitter, you’d most likely have heard of this special event.

The Star Trek centered film follows Shatner as he interviews fellow Trek actors, reflecting on the life of Trek, from the perspective of the working actor.

For fans of Star Trek, this is a rare look at the life of the actors, who each played captains in different series. Patrick Stewart (TNG), Avery Brooks (DS9), Kate Mulgrew (Voyager), Scott Bakula (Enterprise), and Chris Pine (Star Trek). With guest appearances from Christopher Plummer, Jonathan Frakes, Nana Visitor.

It’s an eye-opening look at each actors personal life. The insecurities, and stress of balancing personal lives with work was extremely taxing, while working on the set of their respective series.

There are certainly some amusing moments, but it’s the honesty from the actors during their interviews that shines light on their life in show business. Shatner has a certain way of conducting his conversational interviews, and if you’ve seen Shatner’s Raw Nerve — The Captains is basically the same.

Leave it to Shatner to not only share the spotlight, but to find opportunities to talk about himself and his career. A Shatner production indeed. Overall, the documentary succeeds in shining light on the actors. If you’re a fan of Trek, this is one is for the Trekkies.

It has a great collection of A-listers in the cast including Tom Hardy, Chris Pine and Reese Witherspoon and when you see the synopsis, you may wonder why. It looks a little bit like Mr. and Mrs. Smith which starred Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie in the way the story unfolds and I guess it was a chance for the leads to unwind and make a fun silly movie, especially for Tom Hardy who has done a lot of serious roles recently.

When the trailer started, I thought it looks pretty bad but by the end, I was willing to go with it and enjoy it for what it is so here’s hoping it lives up to the idea and is a lot of fun. It’s out President’s Day in the US which (after looking that up) is the 17th February which is actually the same day we’ll get it here in the UK.

Or II. Whatever it’s going to be called, he’s directing it.

Despite the phenomenal success of 2009’s critically acclaimed reboot the Star Trek sequel has faced a number of delays, not least of which was the fact that Abrams was himself committed to directing this summer’s Super 8 as well as producing the forthcoming Mission: Impossible: Ghost Protocol. On top of that, co-writer Alex Kurtzman has been working on his own directorial debut, Welcome to People, meaning that Star Trek’s so-called ‘supreme court’ has been stretched pretty thin of late – so much so, in fact, that Paramount had previously confirmed that the film would not meet its already announced release date of June 29th 2012, a spot that has now been taken by G.I Joe 2: Retaliation.

Still, the stars are finally aligning for the new crew of the Starship Enterprise; work on the long in development script will reportedly be complete by the end of this month with shooting beginning sometime during the winter (most signs suggest a January stardate – I mean start date; sorry). The studio has already exercised its options on the cast, meaning that Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, Zoe Saldana, Simon Pegg, John Cho and Anton Yelchin will all be returning to the roles they first played in the 2009 film.

Look for the Star Trek sequel to warp into cinemas anywhere from Christmas 2012 to summer 2013.

Reese Witherspoon will be starring in upcoming Disney comedy, Wish List, as a career-driven woman whose childhood dreams are granted twenty-five years late, Deadline report.

Witherspoon’s career has been a mixture of serious and light-hearted roles, and she can play both very well, and Wish List looks set to be one of the latter.

The film will see,

“an overly imaginative little girl who makes ten wishes at a wishing well. They don’t come true because her coin never reached the bottom and eventually she loses her inner child and becomes a full grown and ambitious career woman. Some 25 years later, the coin is dislodged, falls to the bottom and she has to deal with the ramifications of 10 kid wishes coming true all at once.”

Though Witherspoon is an actress who might get overlooked when thinking of stellar talent, don’t forget that she won herself a well deserved Best Actress Oscar back in 2005 for her portrayal of June Carter in Walk The Line, beating both Dame Judi Dench and Charlize Theron for the award. I thought she was excellent in this year’s Water for Elephants, proving she’s certainly still on top of her game. She’ll also be starring in the McG-directed, This Means War, due out in February next year, alongside Tom Hardy and Chris Pine, who play two CIA agents that vie for her love and consequentially wage an epic war against each other.

Wish List is to be written by Randi Mayem Singer, who wrote the classic Mrs. Doubtfire in the early ’90s and the Dwayne Johnson-starrer, Tooth Fairy, both of which were very successful at the box office. It will be produced by Mark Ciardi and Gordon Gray, who have frequently collaborated with Disney on a handful of previous films, including Invincible, The Game Plan, and last year’s Secretariat.

A young child’s dreams being realized for her future serious adult self certainly has the potential to make for a good film. Perhaps not an amazing film, but a nice uplifting Disney film nonetheless, and Witherspoon sounds like a great choice to lead the cast. No names are being mentioned about directing yet, so more news as and when we get it.

With Paramount originally gearing up to get their previously lucrative Jack Ryan franchise back on track, two obstacles have now set things back.

Deadline is reporting that the studio are more focused on ensuring that their intended lead Chris Pine (who would be the forth actor to play the character) will be ready to fit into his Starfleet uniform later in the year for the second instalment of the Star Trek reboot, beforehand.

The new Ryan script is taking much longer than anticipated (original writer Steve Zaillian recently leaving on the project) and Paramount are keen to start production on Star Trek this autumn.

This would appear to be the more logical (sorry!) plan for the studio, although it remains a mystery why Paramount is even intent on resurrecting Jack Ryan. The last film (2002’s The Sum of All Fears) hardly reached giddy box-office heights, and the pervious features did far from Bond-like numbers.

They must be confident that a post-Star Trek Pine can really deliver on this now (arguably) outdated character.

From the look of them, Pine and Hardy are getting stuck into each other nicely and given how well they have both handled action and fight sequences in the past, a dust up between them should be plenty of fun.

This Means War is due for release in 2011, possibly during what is already looking like a pretty crowded summer schedule.

Our review is also up and can be seen here. And if that’s not enough, we have a competition for you to win merchandise from the movie here!

Unstoppable is directed by Tony Scott and marks his fifth collaboration with Washington. The movie also stars Chris Pine and Rosario Dawson and we think you’ll rather like it!

Synopsis: Inspired by actual events, “Unstoppable” is an adrenaline rush fueled by director Tony Scott’s signature mark of propulsive action rooted in the reality of ordinary people placed in extraordinary circumstances. A veteran train engineer (Denzel Washington) and a young conductor (Chris Pine) race the clock to stop an unmanned runaway train – effectively a missile the size of a skyscraper — and prevent disaster in a heavily populated area.

Unstoppable is the latest movie to reunite Tony Scott and Denzel Washington in what turns out to be their fifth movie together. The previous outings including Crimson Tide, Man on Fire, Deja Vu and more recently, The Taking of Pelham 123 and as you might notice, they all have a similar formula – action! I’m a big fan of both Tony Scott and Denzel Washington so when I got the chance to see this movie, I was very much looking forward to seeing it.

Unstoppable is based on a true story about a runaway train which is unmanned and under power thundering through the towns across Ohio with hazardous chemicals on board and a train load of kids heading straight for it. With the train smashing through everything in it’s path, two men (Chris Pine and Denzel Washington) decide to take it upon themselves to try and stop it be devising an ambitious plan that if successful, could stop the train in it’s tracks – quite literally! This goes against all their orders from the men in suits back at head office, more interested in saving money and saving face than saving lives. Denzel and Chris do have one allie however in the form of Rosario Dawson who plays Connie, and is in charge of mission control back at the train depot. She’s able to help them with the details on where the train is at any given moment and is really well cast in the movie.

Let’s face it, watching a train pootle along a track at speed for 90 minutes is never going to be that exciting but when Tony Scott adds the multitudes of helicopters, loads of police cars, children on another train in imminent danger and a horse on the track, it’s always going to make it that little bit more interesting! He even manages to get an explosion in there in true Tony Scott style! By using loads of close up shots of the characters and the train, it really feels like the train is out of control and you do actually begin to care about what happens to the people involved (can you see I’m still thinking about my Skyline review!). I was never overwhelmed by the chemistry between Pine and Washington and Pine’s back story was a little lame. It basically focuses around a messy court case around the access to his daughter and ends in a rather silly fashion where they all live happily ever after by the time the credits roll! I guess it is a film and it had to have this backstory for you to want Pine’s character of Will to suceed.

Overall though, I’m pleased to report I did very much enjoy this movie. I always think of myself as a very mainstream kind of movie goer. I love all that over hyped over done action genre and Unstoppable is exactly that! Denzel is back on form, running over trains and the sound was excellent, especially in the Fox screening room where the floor shakes when the train comes roaring at you head on!

If you’re a fan of all things Denzel Washington and Tony Scott, then this one is yet another to add to the collection and I’d definitely buy it on DVD when it’s released next year.

Unstoppable is released in UK cinemas next Wednesday, 24th November and if you haven’t already entered, click here to win merchandise from the movie.
