Lionsgate have released the U.K. poster for Joss Whedon’s long-delayed horror-thriller The Cabin in the Woods.

Directed by Drew Goddard, The Cabin in the Woods stars Jodelle Ferland, Chris Hemsworth, Amy Acker, Jesse Williams, Fran Kranz, Kristen Connolly and Bradley Whitford.

Five friends go to a remote cabin in the woods. Bad things happen.

After a worldwide premiered at the South by Southwest film festival, The Cabin in the Woods will open – as the poster clearly states – on Friday, April 13. It promises to be chock full of twists, turns and wicked treats.

Coming at you like a geeky avalanche The Avengers looks set to be the first big winner in the movie season I’m going to call Superhero Summer (for this post at least).

Hyperbole aside it is looking pretty great, certainly Joss Whedon is the man to bring together the disparate heroic elements and here’s a new look at our new friends looking very determined.

If you’re a Marvel fan then you’ll have seen the teaser for this teaser already with some new footage of our heroes fighting intergalatic nasties and now here’s the whole thing.

The whole gang is here with Iron Man (Robert Downey, Jr), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Captain America (Chris Evans), the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo, of whom we get a better look here), Hawkeye (new Bourne man Jeremy Renner), Black Widow (Scarlett Johannson), the eyepatched Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), Agent Coulson (Clark Cregg), Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow), and Loki (Tom Hiddleston).

Whichever way you look at it there’s a pretty fine cast there and it’ll take a director with an eye for the ensemble to tame it. Step forward Joss Whedon.

After getting three great new images from the film just yesterday, we’ve now got another new image from the upcoming Snow White and the Huntsman to share with you tonight. The film is the darker of the two Snow White films due to come out this year, and everything we’ve seen so far has been beyond promising.

Led by Kristen Stewart in the lead as Snow White, the film also stars Charlize Theron, Chris Hemsworth, Sam Claflin, Nick Frost, Eddie Marsan, Ray Winstone, Ian McShane, Toby Jones, Lily Cole, and Bob Hoskins.

Rupert Sanders is making what looks to be a very impressive directorial debut, with a script co-written by newcomer Evan Daugherty and Oscar-nominated Hossein Amini, who wrote the screenplay for last year’s Drive.

This new image, courtesy of the film’s Facebook page, gives us a close-up of Theron looking fearfully at her own reflection before the mirror, no doubt with concern for her fading looks, and it comes with the following quotation:

“It once pained me to know I am the cause of such despair. – The Queen”

Theron’s performance looks remarkable judging by that immense first trailer that was put out towards the end of last year, and I can’t wait to see how things play out when she and Stewart are pitted against each other in the film, with Hemsworth fast on the heels of Stewart’s Joan of Arc-esque heroine.

Snow White and the Huntsman will be with us on 1^st June this year, both in the UK and the US, and is set to light a fire at the box office to kick-off the summer blockbusters in style. I can’t wait. More promotional artwork has been released for Marvel’s The Avengers this week, which includes a brilliant 3D poster.

The Avengers, which is set to be released on 27th April, begins when Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), Director of the international peacekeeping agency known as SHIELD, finds himself in need of a team after an unexpected enemy threatens global safety. Following on from Marvel’s big-screen adventures that began with Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger, The Avengers unites the superhero team starring Chris Evans as Captain America, Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Mark Ruffalo as The Incredible Hulk, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye.

Everything that we’ve seen so far for the darker of the two upcoming Snow White films, Snow White and the Huntsman, has been absolutely fantastic. If ever you were a little sceptical that this would be good, or that Kristen Stewart could pull off a Joan of Arc-like Snow White heroine, all you have to do is watch the first trailer we got at the end of last year to get a feel for how immense this should be.

The film marks the directorial debut of Rupert Sanders, and it looks like a fantastic first feature from him. The script has been co-written by Evan Daugherty, who also makes his debut on this, and Hossein Amini, who wrote the screenplay for Drive, by far one of my favourite films of 2011.

Along with Stewart, Theron, and Claflin, the film also stars Chris Hemsworth in one of the leading roles as The Huntsman, and a fantastic supporting cast that includes Nick Frost, Ray Winstone, Ian McShane, Toby Jones, Eddie Marsan (who you may recognize from being in everything at the moment), Lily Cole, and Bob Hoskins.

You might recognise the images of Stewart and Theron from a moment in the trailer and an earlier magazine scan, respectively, but I think this is the first time we’re getting them officially as images and at hi-res. And they look awesome. I’m a big fan of both Stewart and Theron, and I can’t wait to see them opposite each other in this. And Claflin will no doubt set many hearts a-swooning as the film’s Prince Charming, shown here with a suitably deep-in-thought expression cast on his face before the firelight.

Snow White and the Huntsman will be with us here in the UK on 1^st June, which means we’ve got less than five months before we get to watch this awesome film unfold before us on the big screen. Last week, we heard that Joss Whedon, Tom Hiddleston, and Clark Gregg would be hosting a Global Twitter Chat for Marvel’s upcoming The Avengers tonight. We also heard that with the chat, we’d be getting a teaser for the film’s upcoming TV spot at this weekend’s Superbowl, and we now have that awesome video to share with you!

The TV spot itself is set to be a thirty-second video, and this ten-second tease (seventeen seconds all in, technically) is just so damn good, with some brilliant new footage that we didn’t get in the ridiculously awesome first trailer at the end of last year.

Jackson also took part in, over at The Avengers’ Twitter, with writer-director Joss Whedon answering questions there, and Clark Gregg, Tom Hiddleston, and Samuel L. The official Facebook channel for Universal Studios’ new movie,  Snow White and the Huntsman has released an awesome new image of the dwarves with Chris Hemsworth. Love the way that they’ve all be shrunk down to their dwarf size but also great to see the likes of Ian McShane and Bob Hoskins leading the gang from the front. If you look to the back, you can see Nick Frost looking like he’s tired from marching through the forest!

Becoming an increasingly well-known name both here and across the Atlantic, Tom Hiddleston will soon be returning to the big screen to reprise his role as Loki from Thor in Joss Whedon’s upcoming The Avengers.

Hiddleston has been speaking to the Belfast Telegraph, via ComicBookMovie, and has said that the sequel to last year’s Thor will be going before cameras a little earlier than expected, and will start shooting this spring rather than the summer.

Just after Christmas, we heard that Marvel had finally found its director in Alan Taylor, best known for his work handling directing duties on Game of Thrones, and it looks like they’ll be ready to press on with the film very soon.

“There is a Thor 2. It’s been green-lit, and I think it will start shooting in London in the spring. Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman are coming back. I haven’t seen the script. This is where I feel the Marvel snipers are waiting and watching across the street…”

Excellent news. Though the search for the director has been a complicated one, with Patty Jenkins exiting from the job over creative differences late last year, the project is clearly well underway with Taylor now on board, and it sounds like things should be starting up here in the UK very soon. If you’re living in London, keep your eyes peeled for catching Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, or Tom Hiddleston walking down the street. You’ll be able to spot Hemsworth especially on account of the awesome hammer he’ll be wielding.

The project is one of two that have been officially announced as in development, with the other of course being Robert Downey, Jr.’s return in Iron Man 3. The third in the Iron Man arc will be out on 3^rd May next year, with Thor 2 following a few months later on 15^th November.

And before all that, we can of course look forward to seeing the whole Marvel superhero cast together in one epic film in the form of The Avengers in just a few months’ time. The marketing campaign is well and truly underway for Joss Whedon’s upcoming The Avengers, which brings together all of the awesome characters we’ve loved watching over the past few years in their separate movies for one epic superhero blockbuster.

Just last night, we put up some great images and specs of Tony Stark’s $9m. car that’s on display at Sundance to promote the film, and today we’ve got more brilliant stills to share with you. Marvel have released five hi-res stills, with thanks to ComicBookMovie.com for the tip-off, three of which we’ve seen before just a few days ago, but only as scans from Empire Magazine.

We also heard talk yesterday about the possibility of Captain America 2 going into production this year following Iron Man 3 and Thor 2, as well as the S.H.I.E.L.D. movie potentially following those three. Marvel are certainly firing on all cylinders, and doing one hell of a job at it too.

And Jeremy Renner’s veins look a little bit like they’re about to explode in the fourth shot. Awesome stuff.

A quick word of warning before things get too spoilery in here: should you wish to watch The Avengers with fresh eyes, this news really isn’t for you.

Really. I’m being serious. This is (potentially) massive and (if confirmed) it can never be unseen.

We ready? Good.

In a recent interview with The Radio Times, Jenny Agutter made a throwaway remark which has hurled the internet into a frenzy of speculation (via Total Film).

Having just admitted that she was only allowed to see a copy of the script once on set, having been sworn to secrecy (better luck next time, Marvel), the actress, who plays a council woman in the upcoming movie, passingly alluded to two nearby Winnebagos, one belonging to Iron Man and the other to…Spider-man.

“But”, I hear you ask, “huh”? While in the comic books Spider-man has been known to work with The Avengers, even joining their number in The New Avengers series, it was presumed that he wouldn’t be featuring in the cinematic series any time soon, not least because the big screen rights to the character currently sit with Sony.

Should there be more to Agutter’s claims than a simple slip of the tongue or a harmless confusion of her superheroes, this revelati0n would mean some sort of agreement has been reached between Sony and Marvel allowing the crossover cameo to take place, furthering Marvel’s mission to have all of their superheroes living in the same universe (until the next reboot, anyway) and presumably providing Sony with some free publicity before their The Amazing Spider-man reaches screens in July.

What might at first glance seem like quite an exciting possibility, providing of course Joss Whedon can find room to do justice to another iconic character, however, soon raises more questions. Would Sony really want their suited and booted Spider-man revealed prior to the release of their own origin story? Who would portray the character? When exactly would the cross over take place, in either franchise’s timelines?

Marvel will no doubt be quick to either confirm or deny this sizeable leak of information, but in the meantime it’s certainly a juicy prospect, particularly if Whedon can pull it off. What do you think? It was only a few days ago that we got to see some brilliant new promo images for The Avengers released in celebration of the Chinese New Year. We’ve now got some more excellent images of the Marvel superheroes as four of them grace the cover of Empire, in a four-cover issue, giving you a choice of Iron Man, Thor, Black Widow, and Captain America to add to your collection.

Not only that, but there are some great scans from inside the issue, which is released this Thursday, coming via ComingSoon.net and Collider, as well as snippets from their interview with Kevin Feige, Marvel’s President of Production, and Tom Hiddleston, who will play Loki, on some of the things we can and can’t expect from writer-director Joss Whedon’s upcoming superhero blockbuster.

Hiddleston said of his impending villainous role,

“He knows who he is now, and what his powers are. In order for The Avengers to come together, Loki has to be more menacing, and all of his malevolence is founded in a completely delusional dream.”

And when Feige was asked about Loki’s army,

“Who said they were aliens?… It’s not Skrulls, I’ve been clear about that. Beyond that, we want to hide it. The identity of the alien race is not impactful. It exists in the comic books, but we’re not setting up the Kree-Skrull war or anything like that.”

And for some time now, rumours have been circling that Red Skull, played by Hugo Weaving in Captain America: The First Avenger, would be returning in Whedon’s film, but Feige seems to clearly put that rumour to bed:

“Was [Red] Skull vaporised at the end of [Captain America: The First Avengers], or thrust into another realm? That remains to be seen. It would be fun to see Skull in future, but he’s not in this one.”

Marvel have shown that they’re clearly invested in continuing this recent slate of superhero films, with Iron Man 3, Thor 2, and hopefully The Avengers 2, all currently on the line-up, so there’ll be plenty of room for Weaving to reprise his role in the near future.

Joss Whedon’s upcoming The Avengers is by far one of the most highly anticipated films of 2012. We’ve been seeing plenty of great things from the project in recent months, with the mind-blowing first trailer arriving back in October last year. For six days starting tomorrow, these red envelopes (which Wikipedia tells me are also known as hóngbāo, Ang Pao, Lai See, Sae Bae Don, and Lì Xì in a variety of Asian languages) will be given out to cinemagoers in a handful of Asian theatres, in celebration of the Chinese New Year.

This iteration of the classic fairytale looks to be a much darker version than the family film, Mirror Mirror, which should also be great, but is by its nature largely aimed at different audiences. And I just happen to fall into Snow White and the Huntsman’s audience that little bit more.

Everything that we’ve seen for the film so far (all of which you can catch up on right here) has been pitch perfect, and I can’t wait to see how it all turns out this summer. Snow White and the Huntsman will be with us on 1st June, which gives us four and a half months to wait in anticipation for its awesomeness. It’s going to be such a good kick-start to the summer. Truly, it made the film look even more incredible than we all knew it would be.

Earlier this month, we saw some new footage from the film when the German trailer came online, and we’ve now got a bit more to see with the Russian trailer that MSN Russia have put up, via ComingSoon.net. Like the German trailer, it’s very similar to the English language one, but with a few added moments of awesomeness to soak up ahead of its release next spring.

Whedon is directing from a script he’s co-written with Zak Penn (X-Men: The Last Stand, The Incredible Hulk), and all of our favourite superhero cast from the Marvel Universe will be reprising their roles from recent years, including Iron Man (Robert Downey, Jr., with Paul Bettany returning as JARVIS), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Captain America (Chris Evans), the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo, taking over from Edward Norton), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Black Widow (Scarlet Johannson), Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), Agent Coulson (Clark Cregg), Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow), and Loki (Tom Hiddleston).

No matter how many times I see Downey, Jr. cut away in mid-air with an instant change of direction in the Iron Man suit, I still love it, and can’t wait to see it once more on the big screen. The Avengers will be with us in 3D on 27^th April next year, which means we’ve got less than four months to prepare ourselves for its awesomeness. Yesterday was a pretty big day for some of next year’s biggest and most anticipated films. We got two great teaser trailers for Ridley Scott’s Prometheus, the first trailer for Wrath of the Titans, an exclusive image from Steven Soderbergh’s Haywire, as well as the first full-length trailer for The Dark Knight Rises (which was, expectedly, epic).

And last but by far not least, we also got some new footage from Joss Whedon’s upcoming The Avengers in the film’s German trailer, and following on from that, Marvel have put out two awesome new images that we’ve got to share with you, via ComingSoon.net.

Given what director and co-writer Joss Whedon did with a modest budget of just under $40m. on Serenity, one of my favourite action sci-fi films of all time, I cannot wait to see his vision for The Avengers with its budget north of $200m. Along with everybody else, I’m expecting it to be one of the best films we can look forward to next year.

As you’re no doubt all aware, the film will be bringing together all of our favourite characters from the Marvel Universe that we’ve been seeing in all of their films in recent years, including Iron Man (Robert Downey, Jr., with Paul Bettany returning as JARVIS), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Captain America (Chris Evans), the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Black Widow (Scarlet Johannson), Nick Fury (Samuel L. We got the incredible first trailer for The Avengers back in October, and have seen plenty of other great stuff from the film before and after, all of which you can catch up on right here. The film will be hitting the big screen on 27^th April next year, so if you haven’t already committed the date to memory, I highly recommend you do so now. No sign of a Dark Knight Rising, but who needs it when there’s a little bit more of The Avengers ala Joss Whedon in the offing today as a new German trailer is released.

It is similar to the trailer we’ve seen already but there is a little new footage in there which makes this a must-see for Whedonites and Marvel fans alike.

The cast of the new movie includes Samuel L. Jackson, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo, Tom Hiddleston, Jenny Agutter, Gwyneth Paltrow, Paul Bettany and Robert Downey J which, when you think about it, is a pretty fine cast.

Marvel have just sent us these nice new banners for The Avengers. Yes they very similar to the US ones that we saw a month or two ago but this time we have lost the big A on the posts so we can see the characters in all their glory! So we’re all sitting here waiting for a new trailer for The Dark Knight rises which as yet has failed to materialise but fear  not as we have this new international trailer for Snow White and the Huntmans from Universal Pictures via their Mexico office. It’s pretty much the same one that we saw recently with a little more footage added but it have to warn you, you’re going to need to brush up on your Spanish if you want to know what they’re saying!
