We got our first official look at Steven Soderbergh’s upcoming Magic Mike just before the end of last year, which saw a topless and patriotic Matthew McConaughey on the stripping stage alongside Channing Tatum and Alex Pettyfer.

The film is based on Tatum’s own experiences, and will also star Matt Bomer, Joe Manganiello, Olivia Munn, Adam Rodriguez, Riley Keough, Cody Horn, and Kevin Nash (professional wrestler/actor), and marks the writing debut of Reid Carolin.

We’ve now got two new images from the film to share, courtesy of EW via Collider, which show Tatum, Pettyfer, and Bomer suited (and presumably booted), but somewhat lacking in the shirt area. So essentially, collars and (bow)ties, and then nothing ’til the waist area.

It’s the second time in a row that the rising young actor will be working with Soderbergh, and we’ll be getting to see their first pairing on Haywire in exactly one week, with that film hitting the UK cinemas on 18th January.

“Set in the world of male strippers, “Magic Mike” is directed by Steven Soderbergh and stars Channing Tatum (“Dear John,” “Step Up”) in a story inspired by his real life. The film follows Mike (Tatum) as he takes a young dancer called The Kid (Pettyfer) under his wing and schools him in the fine arts of partying, picking up women, and making easy money.”

Magic Mike is set to be released in the US on 29th June, but it’s yet to get a UK release scheduled. I’d imagine that it’s just a matter of time though, and hopefully we’ll be able to bring you news of its UK release soon. I think this is going to be great.

And to top things off, if you’re a fan of either/both Tatum and Soderbergh, you’ll also be pleased to know that news surfaced just yesterday that the actor is close to closing talks to star on the next film Soderbergh’s directing, The Side Effects, alongside Blake Lively and Jude Law.

Oscar-winning writer-director Steven Soderbergh has potentially four films left for us to look forward to before he takes an early retirement – what will hopefully prove to be a temporary hiatus. We’ll be getting the first of those, Haywire, in January, and then we can look forward to seeing the world of male strippers on the big screen in the summer when the second of his four upcoming films is released, Magic Mike, both of which have the rising star Channing Tatum.

As far as I’m concerned, a Soderbergh film is always going to be something that you take a trip to the cinema to see, and Haywire is going to be amazing next month. Looking beyond that, we’ve now got the first image that’s been released for his second film of the new year, via Collider, and it gives us a look at the tank top-clad Tatum and the shirtless Matthew McConaughey, right in the middle of the male-stripping act.

The film’s been written by Reid Carolin, who worked with Tatum on his last film, Ten Year, and is based on Tatum’s own past experiences, focusing on a young male stripper (Alex Pettyfer) who learns the ropes from a vertern (Tatum).

Along with Tatum, McConaughey, and Pettyfer, the film also stars Matt Bomer, Joe Manganiello, Olivia Munn, Adam Rodriguez, Riley Keough, Cody Horn, and Kevin Nash (the actor/professional wrestler).

Soderbergh fans will be pleased to know that although he’s officially exited The Man From U.N.C.L.E. for Warner Bros., he’s set to re-team with his Contagion writer Scott Z. Burns for his next film, shooting in the spring, titled The Bitter Pill.

Magic Mike is just one of (at least) five films that we’ll be seeing Tatum in next year, so 2012 is definitely set to be a busy one, with Haywire being the first off the bat on 18^th January. We’ll then be seeing him in The Vow in February,21 Jump Street in March (which looks like a lot of fun), G.I. Joe: Retaliation in June, and then hopefully Magic Mike in June as well. The film’s yet to get aUK release date scheduled, but with a bit of luck, that’ll just be a matter of time. Karl Urban (Star Trek), Ben Barnes (Stardust) and Emilia Clarke (Games of Thrones) are in talks to star in action pic Overdrive.

Overdrive centres on two adventurous siblings who find more trouble than they are looking for in the South of France.

Antonio Negret (Seconds Apart) is attached to direct from a script by screenwriters Derek Haas and Michael Brandt.

Filming is set to begin in Marseilles on October 29.

Overdrive has been in development since 2009, ever since scribes Haas and Brandt took a trip overseas in November 2008. Several actors, including Matthew Goode, Alex Pettyfer and Garrett Hedlund, have been attached at various points.

Twentieth Century Fox have given us these brand new images of Writer / Director Andrew Niccol on the set of his new movie, In Time which sees Justin Timberlake fighting to stay alive by gaining extra time. I love these new images as they really show you what being on the set was like. What I don’t like seeing so much is the smashed up E-Type Jaguar in the background of one of the images!

We got our first official look at Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried in Andrew Niccol’s latest film, In Time, back in July, and it was absolutely fantastic.

A number of trailers and brilliant posters have since been released (if you’ve missed them, you can catch up on everything we’ve seen so far here), but since I’m planning on going into this film fairly blind, I’m staying trailer-free until its release date.

Deadline are now reporting, however, that that release date may now have to be delayed, because author and screenwriter Harlan Ellison has filed a lawsuit (and you can read the filed suit here) against New Regency and writer-director Andrew Niccol.

Niccol is a fantastic writer and director whose brilliance gained much attention back in 1999 when he was nominated for Best Original Screenplay for The Truman Show. He’d previously made his debut with the awesome Gattaca (if you haven’t seen it, I cannot recommend it enough), and has since added to his credits S1m0ne, Lord of War, and The Terminal. His latest film, In Time, is one of the films I’ve most been looking forward to this year, and I really hate the possibility that its release might have to be pushed back.

The short story Ellison claims has been copied is titled, “Repent, Harlequin!” Said the Ticktockman, and having not read any of Ellison’s work, I personally can’t say either way how much of a leg he has to stand on with his suit. This isn’t the first time that Ellison has sued a film for copying his work, receiving an acknowledgement credit on The Terminator after taking legal action against James Cameron and co. by claiming they had copied two episodes of The Outer Limits.

I am of course no lawyer, but having a brief read of the suit he’s filed, Ellison is trying to block the release of the film altogether, wanting Niccol and New Regency to be,

“ordered to impound and dispose of all infringing materials.”

I sincerely hope that that doesn’t happen. Because, no offence intended to Ellison, but I want to see this film so much regardless of who wrote it and whether or not it was based on an as-yet-uncredited short story. It’s not often we get to see new films from Niccol, and this is set to be brilliant, with a fantastic cast that includes Justin Timberlake, Amanda Seyfried, Olivia Wilde, Cillian Murphy, and Alex Pettyfer.

The suit states that in or around November 2010 – after In Time, previously titled Now and I’m Mortal, had begun filming – Ellison and an unnamed third party agreed to work on a screenplay that adapts his short story into a feature length film. As such, I imagine, he wants the film blocked completely because he wants to make his own film instead.

Even if he were to make an adaptation of his short story, I’d still much, much rather see Andrew Niccol’s In Time, because you just know how ridiculously awesome it’s going to be – and it’s ready for viewing right now! I really do hope that nothing will come of the lawsuit, because the scheduled 1st November release date is fast approaching, and I want the film to meet that date. I can’t wait to see it, and am hoping pretty damn hard that nothing will stop that from happening. More news on this as we get it.

Cody Horn (Flipped) has been added to the cast of low-budget male stripper film Magic Mike.

Horn will star as the female lead alongside Channing Tatum (The Eagle), Alex Pettyfer (I am Number Four), Matthew McConaughey (The Lincoln Lawyer), Matt Bomer (Flightplan), Joe Manganiello (Spider-Man) and Riley Keough (The Runaways).

Magic Mike centers on an experienced stripper (Tatum) who teaches a younger dancer (Pettyfer) how to hustle his wares on and off stage at the exotic club Xquisite, run by Dallas (McConaughey).

Steven Soderbergh (Traffic) is attached to direct, with filming scheduled to begin next month.

Horn will next be seen in Geoffrey Fletcher’s Violet & Diary opposite Saoirse Ronan, Alexis Bledel and Danny Trejo.

This weekend, we were completely immersed in all things Big Screen at the O2 for the Empire Big Screen event which, if you missed, can catch up on here. We got to see loads of great footage from upcoming movies along with a few new stills. This new still however I found in the ‘Hollywood Boulevard’ which was the exhibition section of the event. There wasn’t particularly anything to see that was brand new (other than the Star Wars stand that Fox and Panasonic had) and this brand new UK poster for In Time. To my knowledge, we’ve not see this poster anywhere before so it’s a little debut that we’ll take on!It’s a photo which I’ve cropped and the top and button are slightly rounded which is why it doesn’t look completely square.

OK, so the first trailer wasn’t strictly trailer and was given the title, sizzle reel but effectively, this is the third trailer (second here) for In Time which, if you watch in total is now 10 minutes of footage. Seems very odd to be releasing so much of the movie online but I guess that is modern marketing.

I love the storyline for In Time and am hoping for good things. It’s directed by Andrew Niccol and stars Justin Timberlake, Amanda Seyfried, Cillian Murphy, Vincent Kartheiser, Alex Pettyfer, Johnny Galecki and Olivia Wilde who seems to be in everything at the moment!

Having seen the four minute Comic-Con sizzle reel on the big screen I’ve been spoiled for this one, and it’s a shame because this new trailer is far more a tease and don’t give all of its story up on the first date.

I’m a big fan of director Andrew Niccol’s work and when I heard he was on board for a little Logan’s Run with In Time, a story about a future society in which everyone lives to twenty five and then has to earn time to live on for as long as they can, I was interested. However, from the look of this trailer it’s a little more Fifth Element than Gattaca.

What I am looking forward to is Cillian Murphy’s Timecop, as he seems to be taking the whole thing very seriously indeed which, in a yarn like this, is always a bonus.

Here’s the new trailer, which was on Access Hollywood, so blame them for the quality.

Only an hour ago we posted the first look posters for Andrew Niccol’s In Time, a film which our man at Comic-Con called a “Modern day Robin Hood where Justin Timberlake steals time and gives it to the poor!” which is a neat summation of the premise of director Andrew Niccol’s film.

In a future where life can be bought and the rich live forever Justin Timberlake takes wealthy person Amanda Seyfried hostage when he is accused of murder. In the film time is a commodity to be bought and sold so everyone, if rich enough, can live forever as long as they get their ‘time injections’ – sort of like temporal vampires. Thus everyone looks 25 no matter how old they are giving a decent visual gimmick and just as with his previous sci-fi effort Gattaca there’s bound to be larger moral and ethical questions asked here.

Not that this footage suggests that. It looks like a sci-fi thriller which instead of a briefcase of money has a Logan’s Run type time indicator on each person’s arm. Also, it gives quite a lot away, but it’s still good to see how the conceit is used in small details.

Still looking forward to this one, though perhaps slightly less so now. It’s with us November 1st in the UK.

News is coming thick and fast from Comic-Con and earlier today we saw another look at Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried in Andrew Niccol’s In Time (which is not half the catchy title I’m.Mortal was) and now we have the first look at the film’s posters and a new viral website.

If you point your browser towards www.therichcanliveforever.com you’ll see the posters and logo, as well as the promise of the Comic-Con footage which will be up as soon as it’s finished playing to the San Diego crowds.

I’m a fan of Niccol’s films, his sci-fi in particular, and we’ve been following this one for a long time, and now that we can see how Fox are marketing this one there’s little suprise that they are trading heavily on the good looks of their two stars, with the joint poster looking a touch too much like a perfume ad, and the familiar writing-over-the-faces is back in force on the other two. Still, it looks sharp and all we need now is a smattering of footage.

Writer-director Andrew Niccol’s In Time is one of the films I am most looking forward to being released at the end of the year, and now the first official images of the film showing Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried have surfaced, Collider report.

Set to be released on 1st November this year, In Time sounds like an absolutely brilliant sci-fi/thriller, set in a future in which the ageing gene has been turned off, and people trade in time in order to pay for the things they want.

Niccol, who has written and directed the film, has a stellar track record in both his writing and directing career. He made his debut back in 1997 with Gattaca, then followed this up writing the Oscar-nominated The Truman Show, which earned him a nomination for Best Screenplay, and has since made S1m0ne and the brilliant Lord of War. So it’s not difficult to see why this is a film to look forward to. His debut with Gattaca was utterly impressive, creating an incredible world in his first foray into film, and I can’t wait to see the world he creates with In Time.

Not only does the film have an excellent writer-director, it’s also supported by a really talented young cast, including Timberlake, Seyfried, Olivia Wilde, Cillian Murphy, and Alex Pettyfer. The first two official images show Timberlake and Seyfried on the run, with the second photo looking like it has the potential to be some sort of prison break, seeing the walled building and floodlights in the distance behind them.

In Time will see Timberlake and Seyfried returning to work together, after both starring in 2006’s Alpha Dog, a film I highly recommend if you haven’t seen it. Both actors have seen their fame rising in recent years, with more and more people recognising their talent, and it will be really interesting to see Timberlake lead a sci-fi/thriller film like this, that sounds like it necessitates a strong leading character. He really looks the part in these first two images, looking pretty smart suited up in the first shot.

With just over three months left until In Time is released, we can no doubt look forward to more images surfacing in the near future, and we’ll hopefully soon get a look at Wilde as well as Murphy’s character, who plays the antagonist, Timekeeper Leon. Alex Pettyfer’s recent dismissive and derogatory comments about the town which keeps him in employment appear not to have had a negative effect on his career. The I Am Number Four star with not one, but two high-profile projects in the works.

First up is the lead in Steven Soderbergh’s (thought he was retiring?) comedy drama about a young, struggling actor who moonlights as a stripper to make ends meet, whilst he pursues his career (based on the real-life exploits of co-star Channing Tatum no less!).

He’s also being lined-up to appear alongside Matthew Goode (Watchmen) in action adventure Overdrive, where the two will play brothers who specialise in thieving cars, and embark on a mission which takes them to the South of France. With scripting duties by Michael Brandt and Derek Haas (Wanted, 3-10 to Yuma), the film will be produced by Taken helmer, Pierre Morel

In light of that now infamous interview with VMAN (where amongst other industry disses and tawdry personal details, he remarks that Hollywood is a “shit-hole”), Pettyfer seems impervious to the effects of self-induced career suicide, which would suggest that in the land of showbiz you can’t keep a good ego down, regardless to how grotesque it presents itself.

Julianne Moore has been cast in Warner Bros. Pictures’ The Seventh Son.

Moore will star opposite Jeff Bridges (Tron: Legacy) in the adaptation of Joseph Delaney’s The Spook’s Apprentice, the first story in the fantasy-adventure series The Wardstone Chronicles.

The plot is centred around a 13-year-old farm boy named Tom who lives in the countryside of The County. As Tom is the seventh son of a seventh son he is able to see things others cannot, such as boggarts, ghasts, ghosts and others, which is traditional in The County.

Previous talk was of Alex Pettyfer (I Am Number Four) and Jennifer Lawrence (Winter’s Bone) filling the roles of Tom and Alice respectively. But with Lawrence’s recent casting in The Hunger Games, and Pettyfer’s star rising, it seems likely the roles will go to another two up-and-coming stars.

Sergei Bodrov (Mongol) will direct from a screenplay by Max Borenstein.

Production is expected to begin in Vancouver this September.

Academy Award nominee Jennifer Lawrence (Winter’s Bone) has landed the lead female role in The Hunger Games.

Lawrence triumphed over fellow actresses Chloe Moretz (Let Me In), Lyndsy Fonseca (Kick-Ass), Saoirse Ronan (Atonement), Emma Roberts (Scream 4), Kaya Scodelario (Moon) and Emily Browning (Sucker Punch), who were all reported to be under consideration.

The Hunger Games, an adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ young-adult science fiction novel, centers on a young girl (Lawrence) who joins a survival contest in order to save her community in a dystopian future.

Gary Ross (Seabiscuit) is attached to direct the film, which is scheduled to hit cinema screens on March 23, 2012.

Alex Pettyfer (I Am Number Four), Josh Hutcherson (The Kids Are All Right) and Hunter Parish (Weeds) are all said to be under consideration for the role of Peeta Mellark.

Lawrence will next be seen in X-Men: First Class and The Beaver, both scheduled to open in the UK over the lucrative Summer period.

Paramount have just sent us the brand new UK poster, trailer, and an awesome batch of new images from their new movie, Beastly which stars Vanessa Hudgens, Alex Pettyfer, Mary-Kate Olsen and Neil Patrick Harris and is directed by Daniel Barnz.

The movie is released in the UK 22nd April.

Synopsis: Seventeen year old Kyle (Alex Pettyfer) is the spoiled, shallow and incredibly popular prince of his high school kingdom. Entirely captivated and empowered by his own physical appearance, Kyle foolishly chooses Kendra (Mary-Kate Olsen), a witch masquerading as a high school student, as his latest target for humiliation. Beastly is released in the US this coming Friday and to coincide, Apple have released this new clip of the film which shows just why Alex Pettyfer’s character ends up being turned into something, well, Beastly!

I caught up with both Alex and his Co-Star Dianna Agron in San Francisco, where we discussed the movie, football and working with their director D. J. Caruso.
