A big heads up to fans of the fantasy romance morality tale genre, because we’ve got three new high resolution pictures and a new international trailer for Beastly to feast your eyes upon.

Based on Alex Flinn’s 2007 novel of the same name, Beastly is a teen romance all about false surfaces and inner beauty. Telling the story of high school jerk Kyle Kingson (Alex Pettyfer), the film shows how his shallow view of looks is challenged after he shuns school goth, Kendra (Mary-Kate Olsen), prompting her to put a spell on him that warps his pretty boy appearance. The only cure, Kendra tells him, is to find somebody that will love him as he is, but will Kyle ever be able to put his personal development ahead of physical appearance?

Add a blind tutor played by Neil Patrick Harris and a love interest played by Vanessa Hudgens and you’ve got a modern retelling of the classic Beauty And The Beast story. Written and directed by Daniel Barnz, the film is due for release in America on March 18th and in the UK on April 15th.

In an attempt to capitalize on the success of the teen-centric Twilight Saga, a 23 second teaser trailer for Beastly has been released and, even though it is exceptionally short, it is quite possibly one of the worst film promos I have ever seen. It’s the kind of bad where you laugh unintentionally at the voice-over. The teaser actually makes this big budget theatrical release look more like a TV movie or even a TV series.

Adapted from Alex Flinn’s 2007 novel of the same, Beastly is a re-imagining of the classic fairytale Beauty and the Beast set in modern day New York (which by the way has previously been done in the Beauty and the Beast TV series starring Ron Perlman). Written and directed by Daniel Barnz, Beastly stars Alex Pettyfer (Stormbreaker) in the lead role (who apparently only needs to shave his head, sport some odd tattoos, and get a few facial scars and prosthetics to become the beast), Vanessa Hudgens (High School Musical) as the love interest, and Mary-Kate Olsen (New York Minute) as the girl who is responsible for transforming a cruel young man into the beast.
