If you don’t know what Friends With Kids is all about, check out this link for all you need to know. Are you back? Okay. The latest comedy featuring all those actors and actresses you’ve seen in loads of other comedies over the past few years will seemingly seek to portray and dissect the current state of play for parents in the US, with the slightly cynical (though for some realistic?) suggestion on this latest poster that you can’t have love, happiness and kids and that one of the three will have to go. Honestly, when did we all get so jaded?

Anyway, this is not a post about parenting, contentment, and having satisfaction in life, it’s a post about a new poster, so let’s talk about that. As you can see below, it’s another one of those “look who is in it” efforts, just without bothering to assemble them all at the same time for the photo-shoot. Just cobble them all together using photo-shop and stick the result up online. It’s clumsy and cheap (something that hopefully won’t be able to be said of the film) and no one seems to want to look anyone else in the eye. They all just look off into the middle distance in a slightly endearing or ambiguous way.

Ho Hum. Not every poster can be a work of art I suppose. IMP have this one.

We got our first look at the upcoming comedy Friends With Kids last summer, which sees Kristen Wiig and Jon Hamm returning to the screen together this year after a very well-received turn opposite each other in Bridesmaids, one of the number of films gearing up for the Oscars next month.

Written and directed by Jennifer Westfeldt, who also stars, the film revolves around the lives of a couple who decide to have a kid together without being in a relationship. Along with Wiig, Hamm, and Westfeldt, the film has a great cast that includes Adam Scott, Chris O’Dowd (who was also in Bridesmaids last year, and who is one of the five 2012 Orange BAFTA Rising Star finalists), Maya Rudolph, Edward Burns, and Megan Fox.

Yahoo Movies have put up the first trailer for the film, and it looks like it has potential. It also looks like they’ve not just filled the trailer with all the film’s best and funniest moments, which is definitely a good thing – essentially, we can look forward to more than two and a half minutes of worthwhile viewing when it hits the cinemas.

Friends With Kids will be out in the States on 9th March, but we here in the UK are yet to secure a release date. With a bit of luck, we’ll be getting it in the next few months too. The film marks Westfeldt’s directorial debut, and it looks to be a good one, which could certainly put her in good stead if she wants to continue in the director’s chair. Earlier in the year, the world was treated to the awesome movie that is, Bridesmaids. If you’re a bloke and have been put off by the title of the film or the seemingly girlie subject matter, put all your masculinity aside and go and see it as it’s flippin awesome! Here we have some new images (again from the legends at The Playlist) giving us our first look at their new movie ‘Friends with Kids’ which unites Bridesmaids stars Jon Hamm and Kristen Wiig.

Friends with Kids also stars Anne Hathaway, Jennifer Westfeldt, Megan Fox, Adam Scott and is also directed by Westfeldt.

Synopsis: The project revolves around a pair of thirty something best friends who observe the toll that having kids has taken on the couples they know and resolve to bypass that stress by having a child and then date other people. What happened to this poster? Eh? I have no idea what this is meant to mean, or who it’s meant to appeal to, or what that tagline means, can anyone tell me?

And it’s a shame as the trailer didn’t do the film any harm and there’s an excellent cast in there somewhere. Oh well, book/cover/judge etc.

Yahoo have released the full theatrical trailer for The Weinstein Company’s new movie, Our Idiot Brother which has a simply fantastic cast including Paul Rudd, Elizabeth Banks, Zooey Deschanel, Emily Mortimer Rashida Jones, Hugh Dancy, Kathryn Hahn, Shirley Knight, Janet Montgomery, Adam Scott and Steve Coogan. Jesse Peretz directs the movie whcih is set for release in the US 26th August. No UK release date that I can find as yet.

An official website for new star-driven comedy My Idiot Brother has launched, featuring nine new stills.

The new stills give us our first look at the band of actresses playing the sisters of Paul Rudd‘s protagonist. They include Elizabeth Banks, Emily Mortimer and Zooey Deschanel.

My Idiot Brother is directed by Jesse Peretz and centers on an idealist (Rudd) who barges into the lives of his three sisters (Banks, Mortimer and Deschanel), bringing truth, recklessness, happiness and a sunny disposition into their lives.

On top of the stellar central cast, My Idiot Brother also features support from Rashida Jones, Adam Scott, Hugh Dancy, Kathryn Hahn, Shirley Knight and Janet Montgomery.

My Idiot Brother will premiere at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival later this month.

Mila Kunis (Date Night) and Adam Scott (Leap Year) are in talks to join the cast of Universal’s Ted.

Kunis and Scott will star opposite Mark Wahlberg and MacFarlane.

Ted centers on a man (Wahlberg) who as young boy made a Christmas wish that his Teddy Bear (MacFarlane) would come to life and be his best friend forever. Twenty-five years later, the bear is still at his side, but has now evolved into a cursing, smoking, delinquent that is preventing the man from maturing.

According to THR, Kunis will play Wahlberg’s girlfriend and Scott will play her boss.

Kunis will next be seen in Darren Aronofsky’s highly-acclaimed psychological ballet thriller Black Swan, while Scott has a part in the upcoming comedy My Idiot Brother, which is set to debut at the Sundance Film Festival in January.

Megan Fox has released four new images from her movie, Friends with Kids which is currently filming in New York City. The images were taken and released on Monday via Fox’s Facebook fanpage and were taken by Hayley Sparks.

Friends with Kids is based around a group of friends who decide to have children and then date other people and also stars Adam Scott, Jon Hamm and Kristen Wiig and is written and directed by Jennifer Westfeld. According to IMDb, we can expect it some time in 2012.

Megan Fox has been cast in Jennifer Westfeldt’s new ensemble comedy Friends With Benefits, THR are reporting.

Fox will star opposite Jon Hamm, Kristen Wiig, Adam Scott and Westfeldt herself.

Friends With Benefits revolves around a pair of thirtysomething best friends who observe the toll that having kids has taken on the couples they know and resolve to bypass that stress by having a child and then date other people.

Hamm will produce alongside real-life partner Westfeldt, with Mike Nichols and Jake Kasdan on board to executive produce.

Kasdan said of the film:

“Jen wrote one of the funniest and most original scripts I’ve read in a long time, the rare great generational character comedy.”

Piranha 3D swam into theaters this weekend and with it came a return to campy gore-fests and schlock.  These things, however, didn’t turn people away.  Pulling in $10 million so far in only three days it seems there are quite a few people who wanted to see it.  I must say, those that turned out, got quite an eye full.

The movie starts in the quiet town of Lake Victoria.  The town is about to be over run by college students looking for drunken debauchery during spring break.  Just prior to being overrun by scantily clad female co-eds and shirtless beer bonging boys, an earthquake strikes the middle of the lake, causing a rift to open.  This rift unleashes the deadly prehistoric man…and women eaters all over those crazy kids partying away on the lake.

Now this is normally where I would go into my “I don’t like to give spoilers in my reviews” spiel, but honestly with Piranha 3D there really isn’t much to spoil.  The most surprising thing about Piranha 3D was the cast.  Richard Dreyfuss, Elizabeth Shue, Adam Scott, Ving Rhames, Christopher Lloyd, and Jerry O’Connell all play a part.  There’s even a nice little cameo by Eli Roth.  I won’t say they star, because only Elizabeth Shue and Adam Scott have the, shall I say, meatiest parts. But still, that’s quite a list.  Piranha 3D was directed by Alexander Aja who has previous experience with all things horror with having directed the remake of The Hills Have Eyes as well as High Tension and Mirrors previously.  While I wouldn’t call his latest a horror film, it definitely has moments of shock and awe.  However, I wouldn’t say that Piranha 3D is shockingly awful.

Fresh Catch
One of the positives that Piranha 3D has going for it, is that you don’t go into this movie thinking it’s going to be a revelation on quality film making.  It’s purely a guilty pleasure.  The cast plays all of their parts in an over zealous manner.  Jerry O’Connell especially.  If character personalities were able to be shown in 3D, his would have out shone all of the other 3D effects.

This film doesn’t pretend to be something it’s not and I find that incredibly refreshing.  At no time did it take itself seriously.  Could this have been something that was shown on the SyFy network on a Saturday afternoon?  Absolutely.  Albeit censored to death, but still, it’s that type of movie.  Was it a hoot to watch?  You bet.  I laughed harder at this film than I have at most comedies as of late.  It even provided a few parts that I actually jumped at.  That’s rare for me.  I can normally get through the scariest of movies without the slightest startle, but for some reason this one caught me off guard.  The few candy pieces I had in my hand at the time, actually ended up on the floor.

The one part that I loved the most came at the very beginning with Richard Dreyfuss.  It’s a throwback to Jaws and that alone was enough to make me happy.  Those who know Jaws well enough will be able to pick it out right away.

Dead Fish
For me this films biggest downfall actually had to do more with the 3D and the way it was filmed.  I found that the underwater scenes were muddled and a bit hard to see. I haven’t talked to anyone else about it so it could have been just me.  Colors are muted the minute you put those glasses on and this factor detracts from the underwater scenes.  It took my eyes a while to adjust to the 3D as well.

The CGI isn’t the greatest, but that didn’t really bother me as much as it does in other films.  Perhaps I’m giving this one a pass or not judging it as harshly and I would other films.  You don’t go into this film expecting to be served lobster.  You go in expecting fish sticks.  Keep that in mind and there’s really not much to be disappointed about.

To be honest I can’t really fault the film for anything else.  Sure, it could have been higher quality in regards to story, acting, and execution, but like I said before, that’s not what this film is all about.  If you go for anything other than blood, boobs or body parts, you’ve gone to the wrong movie.

Reeling it in
Taking all of these factors into consideration, I have to say I was pretty pleased overall with Piranha 3D.  If you’re looking for ridiculous escapist fun with loads of blood, floating appendages and college kids being torn apart, then this is the movie for you.

Even though it wasn’t screened for press prior to it’s release, it still seems to have done pretty decently this weekend.  It will be interesting to see how it holds up next weekend now that word of mouth will be making the rounds.  If it holds up, I wouldn’t be surprised to see more of these types of films in the queue.  I could be wrong, but only time will tell.

If you’re on the fence about catching this one my advice to you is to just go with it.  Don’t expect anything groundbreaking, just go for fun and you might be surprised.  If you have seen it, let us know if you thought it was a nice tasty morsel or if it was just rotten.

I know it’s probably going to be one of the worst movies of the year but I cannot wait to see Elizabeth Shue and Christopher Lloyd battling against deadly, prehistoric fish in Piranha 3d! To my knowledge, this is the first time the pair will have acted together since Back to the Future: Part III and it’s great to see them both back on the big screen!

Piranha 3d also stars Eli Roth, Dina Meyer, Adam Scott, Ving Rhames, Richard Dreyfuss and Kelly Brook It’s directed by Alexandre Aja and is scheduled for release this Friday, 20th August.

I can’t really explain why but one of the movies that I’m looking forward to seeing this summer is Piranha 3d!! It looks like it’s going to be all sorts of terrible but I am intrigued to see it! It stars Eli Roth, Dina Meyer, Adam Scott, Ving Rhames, Richard Dreyfuss, Elisabeth Shue and Kelly Brook, is directed by Alexandre Aja

Bloody Disgusting have released the first TV spot which you can see below. It’s released in the UK 20th August.

Dimension Films have posted a new UK poster for their upcoming 3D horror film, effectively titled, Piranha 3D. The film is a remake of the 1978 comedy horror film, Piranha.

Synopsis: After a sudden underwater tremor sets free scores of the prehistoric man-eating fish, an unlikely group of strangers must band together to stop themselves from becoming fish food for the area’s new razor-toothed residents.

Piranha 3D was directed by Alexandre Aja, from a script penned by Pete Goldfinger, Grégory Levasseur, Alexandre Aja and Josh Stolberg, and stars Christopher Lloyd, Kelly Brook, Richard Dreyfuss, Adam Scott, Elisabeth Shue, Jerry O’Connell, Ving Rhames, Paul Scheer, Dina Meyer and Ricardo Chavira.

Despite concerns that the film is a cheap money-making dud, the marketing campaign up to now has been solid. Combine that with a decent supporting cast and a studio who know the material and target audience, Piranha 3D could end up surprising a lot of people. From the trailer, it certainly looks like it could be a hugely enjoyable B-movie.

Not that we haven’t already seen what the Piranhas look like but EW has the first official image of these massive and deadly looking creatures from the upcoming film Piranha 3D.

In case you have no idea what this awesomely bloody film is about I have posted the official plot synopsis below.

Coogan fans out there who bemoan the fact that the great comedian has yet to make that progression to big Hollywood star (his first lead feature Hamlet 2 failed to make a dent) will be happy to learn Deadline have reported that he has landed a role in the upcoming comedy My Idiot Brother.

With a cast line-up that reads ‘quirky’ and ‘talented’ (Paul Rudd, Elizabeth Banks, Zooey Deschanel, Emily Mortimer and Adam Scott), the film focuses on Rudd’s laidback idealist, who disrupts the lives of his three sisters when he comes to stay at each of their houses.

The film is directed by Jesse Peretz (whose biggest film to date was the Zach Braff comedy The Ex), while his sister Evgenia, is on scriptwriting duties.

Remember a couple of weeks ago I put up that French poster for Piranha 3d? Well, today Dimension Films have released pretty much the same one except this time with a fair few more Piranhas bearing as many teeth as they possible dare!

Piranha 3d looks like it could quite possibly be terrible but I’m still looking forward to it! It stars Eli Roth, Dina Meyer, Adam Scott, Ving Rhames, Richard Dreyfuss, Elisabeth Shue, Brook, is directed by Alexandre Aja and is released 20th August in the UK.

Piranha 3d isn’t a million miles away now with a UK release date of 20th August. French film website, Ecranlarge has a brand new poster for the movie which give us a description of the movie as: “Sea, Sex and Blood” – what more could you want!?

One of the craziest movies this summer has to be Piranha 3d which looks like a modern day Jaws but will probably be slightly less classic! The movie stars the women I wanted to marry when I was growing up, Elizabeth Shue, alongside Eli Roth, Dina Meyer, Jerry O’Connell, Christopher Lloyd, Richard Dreyfuss, Ving Rhames, Adam Scott, Kelly Brook and is directed by Alexandre Aja. In fact, is this the first time that Lloyd and Shue have reunited since Back to the Future III?

The 1978 film Piranha, produced by Roger Corman and directed by Joe Dante, is set to be released on DVD and Blu-Ray on the 3rd of August this year, the same month the remake of the film hits theatres. I am looking forward to the home theatre release of the original a lot more than I am the theatrical release of the remake.

Predictably this new Piranha film,directed by Alexandre Aja, is being released theatrically in 3D. Although it has hard to have high hopes for this remake the film  looks truly terrible based on the teaser below. Although I am a fan of schlocky B movies I wonder if Piranha 3-D actually has anything new or interesting to offer. Check out the teaser and see what you think.
