Star Trek Into Darkness is just weeks away from arriving on the big screen, and there’s understandably a lot of anticipation surrounding J.J. Abrams’ return to the universe for the upcoming sequel.
We were treated to a rather awesome new international trailer yesterday, within which was hidden the location of the brilliant new poster. And following on from what we saw, Abrams’ Bad Robot have tweeted an ever-so-slightly extended version of this latest Star Trek Into Darkness international trailer.
When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis.
With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction.
As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.
Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, Benedict Cumberbatch, Zoe Saldana, John Cho, Anton Yelchin, Alice Eve, Bruce Greenwood, and Noel Clarke make up a very promising leading cast.
Abrams is directing from a script penned by co-writers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman (Star Trek, Transformers) and Damon Lindelof (Prometheus).
Star Trek Into Darkness will be released in 3D and IMAX 3D on 9th May here in the UK, and has its US release date set for the following week on May 17th. For now, here’s the (slightly) extended international trailer in all its glory. Cumberbatch is definitely going to be one of the villains to beat in this year’s blockbusters, along with Michael Shannon’s Zod in Man of Steel.
