Star-Trek-Into-Darkness-Teaser-PosterJ.J. Abrams’ Star Trek Into Darkness looks set to be one of the biggest blockbusters of the year, and we’re now officially less than two months out from its arrival on our shores.

We heard late last week that the film’s UK release date has been brought forward a week, which can only be good news.

Ben has already been treated to a thirty-minute preview of Star Trek Into Darkness! And you can read his spoiler-free footage report here.

Attached to screenings of Oz the Great and Powerful over this weekend is this new trailer, giving a slightly more family-friendly, light-hearted feel than the first announcement trailer and the teaser trailer we saw at the end of last year.

When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis.

With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction.

As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.

Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, Cumberbatch, Zoe Saldana, John Cho, Anton Yelchin, Alice Eve, Bruce Greenwood, and Noel Clarke take the lead for an awesome ensemble.

Abrams is directing from a script penned by co-writers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman (Star Trek, Transformers) and Damon Lindelof (Prometheus).

Star Trek Into Darkness will be released in 3D and IMAX 3D on 9th May here in the UK, with its US release date still set for 17th May. Whilst we wait, here’s the new teaser trailer to get you excited. The full-length trailer is set to be attached to G.I. Joe: Retaliation at the end of the month, and we’re looking forward to when it hits.
