New International Poster for Spring Breakers with Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens & James Franco

Spring-Breakers-International-PosterHarmony Korine’s Spring Breakers is sure to be one of the most divisive films of the year. Two things, at least, are almost certain: It will be seen by a lot of people, and it will become a cult film not soon to be forgotten.

The film debuted at Venice last year, and went on to TIFF a few days later – you can read our review from Toronto here. I was lucky enough to see the film in Toronto back in September, and especially after letting it sink in, thought it was pretty brilliant.

A lot of that has to do with the performances and the actors behind them – truly, this is a career-defining role for Vanessa Hudgens, and a brilliant performance from Selena Gomez, breaking away from the image so typically associated with her.

And with a few months to go before its arrival on the big screen, a great new international poster has debuted online.

“Brit, Candy, Cotty, and Faith have been best friends since grade school. They live together in a boring college dorm and are hungry for adventure. All they have to do is save enough money for spring break to get their shot at having some real fun. A serendipitous encounter with rapper “Alien” promises to provide the girls with all the thrill and excitement they could hope for. With the encouragement of their new friend, it soon becomes unclear how far the girls are willing to go to experience a spring break they will never forget.”

James Franco, Ashley Benson, Rachel Korine, and Heather Morrison complete the cast nicely, with everyone giving nothing but stellar and memorable performances here.

Korine is directing from his own script, with Skrillex and Cliff Martinez (Contagion, Drive) composing the score.

The opening scene, set to Skrillex’s Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites, is going to have everyone talking when the film hits.

Spring Breakers hasn’t had a firm release date announced, but is set to hit theatres in the US this spring. No word on a UK distributor, but here’s to hoping that that will change. Given the anticipation surrounding it, not to mention the cast, I’d imagine that it will. For now, here’s the new international poster, which you can click through to enlarge.
